- Lodging demand is heaviest, and prices highest, during March and May to September in the northern part of the state, and October to April in the southern part
- Theme parks are most crowded in March, June to August, late November, and late December. They are least crowded in early November, early December, January, and early February
- Except near Miami, budget hotels are ubiquitous
- The state has good transport connections, although a car is useful for rural areas
- Sun protection is required year round
- Mosquitoes are merciless outside major cities
