My lobster at the Ale House
I already ate the tossed salad that came with it. (Wednesday) - No excuses....first thing to put on this morning are your walking boots. We are on a new regime. Life will no longer begin from the couch. The potato has been removed. Our motivator, Sandy, is prancing in place to get us moving. Onward we march. "Up, 2,3,4....Up, 2,3,4".
Still not able to do the full, entire trek that Sandy does.....exhaustion, weakness and pain start to set in so I drop out on the last lap. Gotta work into this, you know. During this past year, I was satisfied just walking around the inside of our house....seemed like a hike going from our living room couch to the kitchen. It was a major journey when we walked up to our back field where our critter feeding station is located. Really liked our golf cart and used it a lot. No more! Getting back in shape: slowly. Now we can only push our golf cart around when we are home.
Oh, Happy Day.....another trip to Walmart....just down the pike from us. I love it! Plus the hiking through this mega store adds more steps to our new walking program. Likening it? I sure am. More stores yet to go....yippee.
Sam & his new magnifying glasses
One on his chest, one in his hand. Into Target, Walgreens, Sam's Club, CVS, and Publix we go. Wow....had to have been at least 23 miles walking through all these shops. I bet you are pooped like me. Cory is like the Energizer Bunny...he just keeps going and going and going without whining.
Back in time to gather up Sam & Sandy and head off to one our most favorite restaurants: The Ale House. Hallelujah.....they still have their lobster on the menu. Each year, it gets a tad more pricey but oh, so worth it! Snap, crack and devour.....Sandy and I put these sea creatures away with no difficulty. The guys stuck with meat.
Over the years, we have observed, on occasion, when Sam has struggled to read the menu. He would borrow Sandy's reading glasses.....sometimes he had his own. If not, Sandy would read it to him. Before we left Shongo, Cory found the perfect gift in my store for Sam. It is a huge magnifying glass you wear around your neck and it rests against your chest so you are hands free when using it. We waited for Sam to struggle....he didn't! Rats! I said to Sam....here read the menu....can you? Yup...he could. Rats!
Too funny
You add the caption! Try the small print. Finally, Cory did the presentation to Sam. He quickly tried it on and liked it. We also gave him a little round reading glass to go with it...more is better. Of course, it is much larger than a "Life Alert" button but maybe it will protect Sam's chest if he gets punched. It was a fun time in the old town last night.
We restored our normal routine of going together back to our RV. I serve chocolate candy so that is a good draw. So much to catch up on.....our lips were weak when done. Now, it is today (Thursday). Cory was up at the crack of dawn to go play golf with the golfing group arranged by Donnie (works here). A very fine fella. The men golf every Thursday at various golf courses.
I got up a while later and headed to the lobby to drink coffee with friends. Whoa....where's Sam & Sandy? Not here. Rats! I visited with the friends present. Missing my hiking team, I forced myself to go alone. Up and down and all around. Whew! No pain, no gain. I must be gaining a lot....hope it's not weight,
Dinner at the Ale House
Good Ships, Wood Ships, Best Ships are Friendships! though. Passing by the Foreman's RV, I spied Sam outside. Sandy came to the door. We found out how we missed each other. They walked to Denny's and ate breakfast. I stayed in the park and starved. We have to go with them!! Something is wrong with our picture.
Hey, it's Jeff's birthday today He's Lulu's boyfriend. He runs this park! Judy (his wife) is our Activity Director. She's great. Jeff is the Mayor here. He's great, too. Lulu thinks he's the Cat's Meow. All in unison now: ??? Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday, Dear Jeff, Happy Birthday to yooooooou!????........And we love you, too!
Now, I'm back at the RV doing chores: the wash, my blog, my handwritten diary (a lot of documentation going on here) and other little items that need doing. I can see the sunbathers over at the pool from our RV. What a great life. More weeks of walking and I'll be there....Cory loves the pool. Of course, he hasn't had to have spots and dots lobbed off his skin like me. My years of toasting my skin to a dark brown color is now giving me my "just
deserves": payback time. Sunning does cause skin cancer...just like they warn you. You just have to heed this warning early on....otherwise you have to be chopped up. Lulu is very careful....she's doesn't have a lot of skin. My issues are mainly around my face and neck. She does have that.....that's all she has!
Cory returned from golf @ 3:30 PM. He enjoyed himself. Sandy & Sam came over for dinner....but first, Sandy suggested we take another hike. Oookay. March, march, march, we go in unison. Whew....I'm sure I'm wasting away. Can't see any changes yet but something has to be happening with all this high stepping!
Sat outside for awhile and guess who showed up? The disgusting teenie no-see-um bugs. Rats! Bite, bite, bite....they are chewing me up. I raced inside the RV and donned my defense suit. Aaah....much better. It works. I'm good to go and can stay outside forever. Thank you, Lory, for giving me this perfect suit. It's way too big for Lulu so she'll just stay inside. She doesn't want any itchy bites....no hands to scratch them with.
We ate inside the motorhome. Cozy. Sandy brought over warm, home made chocolate chip cookies.
Forget the meal, we just want to eat cookies! They were delicious. I wish you could have had one but we ate them all. Sorry. Maybe next time....maybe.
Our neighbor, Mike, joined us later for snacks and talk. I had to take a 1/2 hour pause from the conversations to watch my most favorite TV show: The Big Bang Theory. I Love ❤❤ this show. I wait all week for this show to come on. Thursday nights are my favorite time of the week.
As the Foreman's left, Sandy reminded us we would be walking in the morning. You heard her....so be sure you have your walking shoes on. You are allowed to use a walking stick if it helps. See you on the hiking trail!
