I am extremely delinquent in writing this final blog entry but decided the year-end would be a perfect time to sum up my travels and update you on where I am and what my plans are. My last entry was just upon my return to the United States in March. As most of you know, I had put all of my belongings in storage prior to my 6-month RTW trip. Upon returning, I had to make a decision as to where I wanted to live and that wasn't an obvious decision for me. Many of my friends in Stamford had moved on, or just moved. Fortunately for me, many of them moved to great locations that allowed me to visit them during my travels (Singapore, Melbourne, Cincinnati (ok..not exciting, but nice :)). I spent almost 2 ... read more

Dear Friends and Family, It's been awhile since I've written. In some ways I'm sorry for that, in others - you're welcome for me not loading up your inboxes ;) To some, I just added you in order to provide a long-overdue update that I've promised multiple times. Feel free to remove yourselves and to hate me for violating your privacy ;) These 2 months have been fascinating, despite my imprisonment in my own boredom and frustrations with feeling like I've grown down and not up... the fact of the matter is, I'm not bored thanks to working literally 7 days a week and having this elaborate schedule that spans over 5 different jobs that I am working. And the truth is that, by returning to my roots and starting over, I've made one of the ... read more

Okay ya'll... Just cuz I'm in school doesn't mean I don't get out. This summer was amazing, and the climbing endless. In Boulder, there are thousands of climbs within 10 minutes of your doorstep. In August, Duncan and Karl came out for a 4 day climb trip, and soon I'll be headed to Mexico to see them again. Boulder - to anyone that hasn't been here - is one big happy bubble. Once you come, you don't ever want to leave. There are so many people who come here to visit, and just decide that this is it for them. Here, you can get everywhere you need to be on a bike. We had the opportunity this saturday of visiting the town of Boulder. It is known for its student prescence and crazy people. There is alot of colour and diversity here. Alot of us students ventured down to the local tattoo parlour to get piercings (i hear it is a common thing within the ywam denver setting). Many got their noses pierced and some got lips or ears pierced. We had Japanese for dinner - 2nd japanese place i have seen here, im sure!! (you wouldnt believe it coming from NZ right?! haha) It was good but i still must admit, its better back home. It was fun and we got to witness some pretty...interesting people around the place. There are many hippies or people just doing their own thing, alot of street performers so it did ... read more

Who says that you have to be in Europe to write a travel blog? I figured that this was a really great way to keep in touch with everyone there, so why wouldn't I keep in touch while in the US? I apologize for this not coming on a Wednesday, but I've actually found myself really busy this week. For one, I had two tasks to get to immediately: get a job and enroll in classes. My parents' condition for me living here is that I go back to school and get my educator's license. This is not a negative condition for me at all because I feel like this will be a positive step or springboard no matter what direction my life takes me in. More and more I am reconsidering a job in teaching ... read more

Peter's final day in Colorado was the 4th of July. His plane was leaving at 12:30 AM, so it gave us just enough time to watch the fireworks in Boulder, before heading to the airport to drop him off. We watched the fireworks from a hillside in the park up the street from our house. We were kind of far away, but we could see other town's fireworks in the distance all around us.... read more

Well, Beth, Mike and I have started our long-awaited journey to our new home. Destination: Colorado. Not sure where in Colorado yet, but all in good time. Right now, we're driving from home to Lincoln, Nebraska. A pretty boring drive overall, but Blackie, Beth's car, isn't enjoying the 90 degree heat as much as we are, so all duringthe second day, that's making for some fun unscheduled stops throughout Nebraska. We finally made it into Colorado, and were pretty excited when we finally saw the Rockies!!! Our home for the next week or so is a hotel room in a Comfort Inn in Louisville, which is a town between Denver and Boulder. The hotel is real nice, but it doesn't have a pool (how annoying) so we've been sneaking over to the Courtyard Marriott across the ... read more

On her way back to the east coast, after working in San Diego for the last six months, Adrienne decided to make a stop to see us in Colorado. Although she was only here for one day, it was nice to show her the sights around town, and we hope the A will come back and visit some other time.... read more

Well. I expected the entry for today to be: Tom Tucker: What are we doing today, Ollie? Ollie: WE'RE DRIVING!! Tom Tucker: Thanks Ollie. However, that was the furthest thing from what actually happened (there might be a few people who get the Family Guy reference). We left Santa Fe this morning around 7:00am and drove to Denver where we went to a Room and Board so we could sit on couches. From there we decided, spur of the moment, to drive out to Boulder out on 119 up to 72, then 7 up to Estes Park, which could be considered one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. We ate trout. Then we left and headed out to Cheyenne, WY for the night. Here's the route we took. So, while we were expecting a ... read more
