Welcome to our travel blog. Just wanted to say a quick hi to everyone before we go, and make sure this whole travel blog thing works. Please let us know if you don't want to be bugged by our spam. In a couple of days, we should be sitting on a sun drenched beach with pina coladas and bad sunburns. The warm weather will be a nice change from all the cold here. Although, we have been using our time to take some nice hikes and ski trips. We'll miss you, and expect our next entry from New Zealand or Fiji. -Dave and Rebekah... read more

Oh my goodness......it has been a few days full of "roller coaster" emotions and feelings etc etc. Driving from San Fran to Salt Lake City was beautiful...through lake tahoe, reno and all of Nevada. Salt Lake City is an interesting and naturally stunning destination. Surronded by snow capped mountains, the mormon capital of the world, and the University of Utah...Salt Lake has lots to do and see..and i didnt even make it to park city, alta/snowbird/redford's places. Then on to Vail Colorado....!! I have to confess and agree with the idea that people who have not skiied in the rockies/out west have never 'truly' skiied. I can't say enough about the town of vail, the beauty, the skiing, the scene, etc etc. Lleno de argentinos, australians, and south africans....didn't see jime or guy smiley but had ... read more

Boulder to Ft Collins to Northwood, ND We visited Mike in Boulder on Saturday and watched some football games with him and his friends. After that, we went to Fort Collins to stay with the Sagstad family - Heidi and Eivind and Bjorn - for two nights. We did some shopping, had an accordion show, played playdough, and hung out at their new house. Bjorn has some fun games and songs that he's made up, so we played those with him. From Fort Collins we drove to North Dakota, stopping along the way at the World's only Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. Nothing other than hunting was going on in SD. We arrived in ND on Tuesday and left on Wednesday for Duluth. In Duluth we visited Kenrea and Mike, classmates of mine from NDSU. We ... read more

Family members traveled anywhere from Seattle to New York and India to get to this family reunion at Scott's Boulder Mountain House. We barbequed chicken in the rain and caught passing clouds in glass jars. The landscape is breathtaking in this part of the world. If you get a chance to spend time in the mountains there - we both recommend doing so!... read more

Well, I'm outta here! Left the house at 19:20, Friday evening, trailer in tow. Gave my Ventura six string to my neighbor, Bradley(12). Said my goodbyes. Sad, and gut renching to see Abby wanting to go too. Just visualize the dog in her spot there in the yard. Yes, it was tougher on me to leave Abby. She won't understand, where Shari does. So, I'm on the road for 3 hrs and I did ask myself, "What the hell am I doing?"....after reminding self of what is ahead, I put an abrupt end to the questioning. South out of Colorado, thru Oklahoma, into TEXAS! Was going to fire up that big cigar to celebrate, but... Took a turn, still headed south, but west of main 87, decided change of scenery was in order. Yep, definitely a ... read more

Colroado Part 2 The next morning we went to explore Denver. We had 3 jobs to do first though - pick up more supplies from Camping World, get maps from the AAA and go to the bank. These 3 tasks proved to be more difficult than we thought and 2 hours later (after getting lost for the first time in the US) we had only managed to get to Camping World! Thankfully we did manage to get to the AAA (2 minutes before closing). The bank, we later found out had no branches in the state of Colorado so that was the end of that. As a city we didn’t hugely like Denver, it was a bit drab, though the mountains in the background were beautiful. We decided to hightail out of Denver and head to ... read more

May 19-Day 5-Bryce Cyn, Capitol Reef, Glen Cyn, Natural Bridges, Mexican Hat Woke up this morning feeling tired because I didn't sleep well due to the 8,000 foot altitude. Just carrying the luggage to our room was a chore with lots of huffing and puffing. Let's face it, I'm not built like an athlete and even an athelete would have a little trouble in this place. The Best Western Ruby Inn is a very big hotel with a pretty nice restaurant and many opportunities for shopping. It's located just a few miles from the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park. It's a beautiful morning at 7am as we drive into the park with temperatures in the low 60's with promises of a much warmer afternoon. A beautiful blue sky has ominious thunderhead clouds to the east ... read more

Until a little over a month ago, I couldn't imagine a better city to call home. Everyone here is so friendly. The mountains are beautiful and humbling, the sun is always shining, and the air is so dry you can run several miles without accumulating a drop of sweat. Everyone eats healthy and stays active-- as opposed to my hometown in Massachusetts where no one would be caught dead on a bike and if you eat a food that even slightly resembles health food, people will roll their eyes at you. My school, Naropa University, is a collection of "the weird kid" from high schools across the country. It is not unusual for people to gather spontaneously into a drum circle, and there's often a guitar or two around to join in. People may raise the ... read more
