I had the privalige of my friend coming over from Oklahoma to see our Beautiful Country. As I'm not working at the moment I was able to take him around a few places. First of all we went to a place called Waitomo. This is where you can go deep within the caves and witness one of the most breathtaking things I have seen in my life. Creatures called glow worms. As well as seeing all the rocks and formations in the cave you get onto a boat and take a ride where as you look up into the blackness of the caves roof you see all these tiny little lights, much like a sky full of stars on a clear night. It is absolutely stunning. If you take a trip there it is about 3 ... read more

Oceania » New Zealand » North Island » Hamilton April 4th 2009

So as you all know, I have returned to New Zealandia. My friend Sandy and I decided on beautiful Saturday morning that we wanted to explore a bit of our own country spur of the moment and headed on down to the magnificent...city of Hamilton. I cant diss it too much because my Father actually was born and raised there so in that sense, it is indeed great. We made our way to the Hamilton Gardens which I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting Hamilton. They are so beautiful and amazing...the best part is for everyone is that they are...FREE!!! Man, who could ask for anything more, and I know that alot of people reading this who would visit them, need to save as much as they can because travelling isnt a cheap excursion so I ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London » London City March 14th 2009

Today was my last day in the Motherland. I am due to fly out of here tonight and return to my home. New Zealand. Aotearoa. Land of the Long White Cloud. Heaven. My aunt and i had a lazy day heading to the cafe with my uncle and after that we ventured down on the bus to take a visit to the Tower of London (of course we didnt go inside because we are poor!!) and walk along the river to witness some more sights such as the Tower Bridge (SPECTACULAR) and the London Bridge (NOT SO SPECTACULAR!!!). As we were walking along the thames I saw the place where Shakespears plays were performed in that dome thingy. It was a beautiful sight, take a trip down there if you are in London because it just ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Dorset » Swanage February 24th 2009

After the six hour flight from New York to London i arrived to the Motherland. I spent a few days in Fulham, London-which i thoroughly enjoyed and will return to in a week-and now my sister and i both took the underground and bus to Swanage, Dorset. This quiant little town by the seaside is a little gem. I had the chance to look around the centre of town today which is dotted with a few second hand stores, some cafes and pubs and other shops which served me a relaxing afternoon. Although the weather wasnt the best today, the beach was still enchanting and reminded me of home. I will definately go there again tomorrow for some time with just myself and God as this time of year it isnt packed with the many tourists ... read more

North America » Mexico » Estado de Mexico » Teotihuacán January 8th 2009

Hola! Today we got the chance to go to the pyramids in Teotihiacan. They were to say the least AMAZING, we took a bus from Pachuca (we are staying with another base here) and headed over to take a look at some history. The ride was about an hour and a half and was only 34 pesos (about $3USD) and then paid the 51 pesos to get into the site. There are alot of people selling things for tourist and you can barter them down which is fun, We climbed to the top of the sun pyramid and the moon pyramid we got to about half way because the rest was roped off. We also walked around looking at all the old ruins and where péople lived. Something we read said there once was a population ... read more

North America » Mexico » Distrito Federal » Mexico City December 22nd 2008

Hola!! We arrived in Mexico City last night around 12am and were greeted by the pastor of the church we are staying with and his son David also another man from the church. It was fun and we got onto the roads where i got to experience some crazy mexican driving (if any of you have been ot mexico im sure that you know what i am talking about!) They dont really even have lines on the road to show which lane you are in. There were plenty of cops out, which im sure is necessary with 20,000,000+ people in the Mexico City region ;) We spent the night at the pastors house and the boys are sleeping in a house that has nothing but air matresses! Our team is having a good time and the ... read more

So. One morning we were in class and our director mentioned to the girls that one of the guys small groups decided to bless us with a gift. He said we would know what it is when we saw it but not to try and find out who it was as they wanted to remain anonymous. We were all wondering what it could possibly be and later on that day we roamed back up to our lodge and infact there was a suprise. The most amazing, loving thing which blessed us unconditionally was plastered up in our bathroom. It was beautiful. On the window were things the guys had written for us and around the mirror was everyones names and the meanings - it spoke so much to us. In sharing it i hope you are ... read more

North America » United States » Colorado » Boulder October 18th 2008

We had the opportunity this saturday of visiting the town of Boulder. It is known for its student prescence and crazy people. There is alot of colour and diversity here. Alot of us students ventured down to the local tattoo parlour to get piercings (i hear it is a common thing within the ywam denver setting). Many got their noses pierced and some got lips or ears pierced. We had Japanese for dinner - 2nd japanese place i have seen here, im sure!! (you wouldnt believe it coming from NZ right?! haha) It was good but i still must admit, its better back home. It was fun and we got to witness some pretty...interesting people around the place. There are many hippies or people just doing their own thing, alot of street performers so it did ... read more

So i got to do some fun things with some local colorado-ans...It is a pretty crazy story and i think God is pretty funny when he does stuff you dont expect. Especially when it is out of the blue and far beyond co-incidence. So as i mentioned earlier, i stayed with a couple called Kenny and Sue (this was as soon as i arrived). I had never met them before or even been in contact before i arrived, It had been organised through Andrew and Lisa. The first day i was staying with this couple they had to work so i ended up just taking it easy and walking round a bit, checking stuff out but mainly staying round the house. Sue rang me up cos the night before she had been up thinking to her ... read more

On Sunday afternoon after all the travelling i had done for the past 16 hours i arrived at my final destination. DENVER. Home of the Rockies, the Broncos and 16th street. This is my home for the next 3 months =) I arrived at the airport and had some confusion as to where i would be meeting Andrew and having no idea what he looked like or anything this proved to be difficult. So i went to the games machine which has internet and put in my $2. To my dismay the flippn mouse didnt work! That machine ATE my money!! Then i went to the one next to it and quickly wrote down Andrews number because i so Blondly didnt write it down before i left, and made my way to the phone booth. They ... read more
