Click your heels together and take a deep breath, because as any world traveller will tell you, there's no place like home. So why are we all so anxious and excited to go anywhere but? I admit. I am one of those that have a travellers soul. Hell bent on seeing every square inch of this world, carbon footprint or not. I want to see all the wonders of the world...I want to dip my toes in every single sea...I want to climb to the highest peak possible and look down...I want to eat Thai food in Thailand...drink vodka in Russia...do the deadman float in the Dead Sea...hike Machu Picchu to witness the mist eerily greet dawn...see the trees slowly reclaim Angkor Wat...marvel the pyramids in Eygpt...and figure out what the Moai are staring at on ... read more

Since I live near Vancouver, B.C., Canada I will be flying from YVR (Vancouver International Airport). I just went to their website to see stuff (mostly 'cause I was bored) when I stummbled upon a link to "Internet Access." It showed a picture of what is called an "Internet Payphone" Here's what the article had to say: TELUS Internet Payphones The airport has 22 "eMillennium" Internet access payphones at locations throughout the terminals, in addition to more than 400 voice payphones. The “eMillennium” offers high-speed Internet and e-mail connection, utilizing a small keyboard, mouse and 6.5-inch LCD screen. Access fees for "eMillennium" are 35 cents a minute, while access to Vancouver International Airport's website (www.yvr.ca) is free from the home page. Maybe while I'm at the airport I'll update this TravelBlog... P.S. Only 2 more weeks ... read more

It's 1:30am. I'll be rising to greet the frigid morning in and do the airport boogie in less time than I care to think. (Sleep is for wimps!) My boyfriend Chris, for those who may not know him, is doing the same last minute connects from his computer upstairs. We have both vowed to make our writing a much bigger part of the journey this year. This will be our second jaunt to Latin America. We backpacked the Yucatan and other southern parts of Mexico for a month last spring. This year our focus is Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador. But for our first week we will be returning to Puerto Escondido to visit friends renting a house there. How I am longing to be back on that beach again! I hope these messages will ... read more

Its kinda cold and snowing but thats the fun of it! experiencing the winter season of North America! We're so excited and we didn't even sleep on a 5-hour plane ride and as we touched down at Dorval Airport, we took a taxi to our hotel at Crowne Plaza...hmmm, nice and cozy place! Hey y'all. So I'm off in a couple hours. The amount of sleep alotted me has now been reduced to three hours. But what the hell, sleep is for wimps. If my mind were functioning a little better, I would try to wax eloquent on the subject of setting off. But I'm out of brain cells, so you're out of luck. I do hope you'll come back soon though, and I'll try to make it worth your time. zzzzzzzzzzzz... read more

Beer is,, Ale. Whiskey is,, single malt. My favorite one is 'MORTLACK'. Sake(Japanese Rice Wine)is,, Junmai-syu or pure sake before being bottled. I might like taste of yeast, because I LOVE bakery as well^_^. But recently I feel that my favorite choice with snacks; like Nachos or Poutine,, is Lager Beer!! 'Lager' Beer is the most popular drink in Canada?? Draft Kokanee Gold is so yummmmmy-! Regarding Wine, I've never tried Canadian Wine except Ice Wine, when I lived in Japan. However, it seems there are quite nice wines here in Canada. I wanna begin trying good value, quality and various wines. Which alcoholic drink has the most varieties? Whiskey is the drink I most associate with it's origin and strength of feeling. The best way to experience it is in its native land. While I ... read more

Let me ask you. What is the Capital of Canada? Toronto you may think. Wrong. The capital of Canada is Ottawa. Let's recall a little geography here. Toronto is the capital city of Ontario. Ontario is only one of the 13 provinces and territories of Canada. Ottawa is the country's capital and it is one of the cities within Ontario, which is on the east coast of Canada. Ottawa is nearing the border between Ontario and Quebec. (Quebec is another province which has the popular Montreal.) After visiting the gift shops in Montreal, we took off for Ottawa. It's approximately 3 hours down south. We left Montreal around 1pm and got in Ottawa a little late in the afternoon. It was not difficult to notice the Parliament Hill because of the three picturesque green-roofed buildings ... read more

Well we are leaving Vancouver today (sadly). However, we are heading to Hawaii which should be great. We did a fair bit here in Vancouver. The day of arrival saw us make our way to Stanley Park. We hired a couple of bikes and rode around this magnificent park. The following day we went up Grouse Mountain and met a woman, with an English accent, from Alice Springs called Jan. We stayed up there all day and watched the sunset. The day after, we went to Vancouver Aquarium and saw the Beluga Whales. They are a special sight to see. We saw many different animals and fish and it was a good experience. Then after lunch we headed to Gastown, Vancouver's historic part of town. It was OK but not anything to rave about. That night ... read more

17 more days and everyone is telling me I need to start packing my bags to ensure I don't forget anything. But I like to procrastinate and I keep putting it off. I've got some new travel books(Lonley Planet:)) and I've been loking them over. That's it for now. d.c. ... read more

We left as early as 4am that Saturday to start a grueling 5-hour drive to Montreal. They say that being in Montreal is like being in Europe. I got excited because I have never been to Europe. So after hours of driving, we arrived in Montreal at around 9am and we were able to check in to a nearby hotel where we will be staying for the night. It was not as fancy as Sandalwood but it would do for a good night's rest after gallivanting within the vicinity. It's called the Hotel Viger, along Rue Hubert or Hubert Street. Approx 60 bucks a night. Not bad for a tourist spot as popular as Montreal. A fellow guest in Sandalwood warned us about Montreal, since it will all be our first time there. He said all ... read more
