Some questions about the process~

I am interested in traveling/moving for a long period of time (a year or two), and teaching English to support myself while doing so. It would more than likely be somewhere in Asia; maybe Japan, South Korea, or Indonesia.

I have yet to take it, but know about the TOEFL Test.
Are there any sites for this, as in, letting you know where you could go with certain credentials, and that sort of thing?

This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, and now that my college schooling is over after the next year, this is when I feel would be the best time to do it.

Any help/opinions/advice received are greatly appreciated.

Hi Kerri

Firstly, I would suggest you go to TEFL.com and esl cafe

Both of these are very popular sites for teaching English.

In addition, there are several blogs on here by English teachers in Korea and Japan. Just use the search function for 'teaching English' or browse the Asia blogs.

This blog Teaching English in Japan - a Guide is excellent information.

The TOEFL test is for non-native speakers. I assume you are confusing it with a TESOL/TEFL course. These are one month intensive courses with assessed teaching practice. The best ones are the CELTA and the Trinity courses. However, for Japan and Korea you don't need one. You need to be a native speaker of English with a Bachelor degree. Look at the JET programme and companies like AEON for Japan. A lot of these are advertised on the websites I mentioned above.

Hope this helps.
