Mijn laatste blog is al weer een tijdje geleden, shame on me. Sorry, nogal druk geweest met alles en nog wat. Even in mijn geheugen graven hoor.. Afgelopen weekend heb ik niet zo heel veel bijzonders gedaan, aardig wat gestudeerd, boodschappen gedaan (wat zoals al eerder verteld een hele onderneming is), wat praktische dingetjes geshopt, bijgepraat met wat mensen, en gesport. Da's wel erg relaxed, de uni fitness is zo dichtbij en een stuk beter dan in R’dam, dus ik ga hier aardig regelmatig sporten. niet uren lang, gewoon wat cardio, maar toch. Zaterdagavond eerste houseparty, in een appartement waar een Duits meisje en drie Canadese meisjes wonen. Super gezellig, en lekker dicht bij huis, nog dichterbij dan de Den ;). Zondag heeft Michaela, een Oostenrijks meisje Kaiserschmarren voor ons gemaakt, echt geniaal. Zij kookt echt ... read more

So, first of all, it's time for a change of language ;). No, seriously, I decided to try and write my blogs in English. Not while I want all of you to see how many mistakes I still make in my English ;), but since that way also non Dutch people can understand a bit of my blog. That way the people I hang out with over here can be sure I'm not telling any mean stuff about them or so :p. Well, yesterday we've been to a Hitmen game.. That's a hockey team in Calgary, not as good as the Flames (- not premier league or so..), but better then the Dino's, the UCA team. Hey, Just starting this thing up...So i managed to see everyone in the fam and i must say it has been way too dam long. The visit was awesome and i am looking forward to seeing everyone again in March, but until then i guess i will just have to put up with living in a tropical jungle for 3-4 weeks, surfing every break possible, relaxing (with beers in hand) on beautiful beaches and meeting amazing people. After about two years of travelling to various places around the world, i finally decide to make a travelblog. It would have been great to have found this place earlier, but oh well. Anyways, this is just the first entry into what will be many. In 24 hours I'm about to head off on a short 3-4 week backpacking trip to the middle of Canada. I've already travelled through most of Canada before, but I'm heading on this little *vacation* for a couple reasons. Chief amongst them is spending some time with long lost friends whom I havent seen in a long time. It seemed that this trip was so damned far away that it would be forever till it came and here it is in less than a week! Less than a week away… busy photocopying all the documents… been through a few trial runs of packing and generally running around with my head chopped off trying to get stuff together… not to mention getting things ready at home. I’ve had the luggage out for a few weeks now and on the first day, Sugar (my cat) freaked but I haven’t left yet so I think she forgot that luggage means going away. I finally received my vaccinations from almost every disease imaginable. Polio, Hepatitis A, Typhoid and I'll be mixing up a fizzy pouch of powder with San Pellegrino to prevent Cholera. The Hep A shot reallllly hurt. Felt like a knife slowly penetrating my upper arm. I was also given a prescription for malaria, but Galib said they make people go craaaaazzzy. So now I have to decide if I want to go craaaaazzzy or somehow avoid the 'squitos as much as possible. Maybe I'll add a 'squito net to my wardrobe. Bottom line: I advise everyone travelling to far away places to get the recommended shots. It's painful, but worth the effort.... read more

What a start! I've bought my ticket and am waiting for it in the mail!! About a week and a half ago I found out that my passport was expiring while I would be on my travels (June to be exact!), this I'm sure would have given me quite a few problems when I would have landed in India! I wonder how often this happens? I'm sure there's other guys like me out there without a care for such bureaucratic procedures! This ofcourse started a mad crazy rush to get my passport renewed. One would think that the shocks would end there.....but noooo....not at all. While Daniel was checking my application forms, he saw that my Alberta driver's license had expired on my birthday (April 10, 2005). So that means that I've been driving on ... read more

Zo, het is onderhand al weer bijna een week geleden dat ik hier wat geplaatst heb. Ten eerste omdat ik nogal busy ben de hele tijd, maar ook omdat ik niet zo heel veel boeiende verhalen heb. Niet dat ik geen leuke dingetjes gedaan heb, integendeel, maar ik begin hier ook een beetje in een vast ritme te komen. Wat ik zoal gedaan heb afgelopen week? Colleges gevolgd, natuurlijk, en zelfs wat huiswerk gedaan. Geshopt, op zoek naar sneakers, overigens nog niet geslaagd. Naar de film geweest, gefitnesst, gezwommen, met wat mensen samen gegeten.. Woensdag Den, donderdag Cowboys again :), waarvan ik een paar foto's zal plaatsen, met dank aan Mat (een jongen uit Berlijn). En vandaag ben ik lid geworden van de rodeo club, jippie ;)...
