10/2 Today was designated as a rest and organising day. We have been so busy for a week now (and more in the weeks leading up) that we needed to catch our breath. For me today is also my first homesick day. The weather here is terrific (14 degrees), but there's not much to do today as we are organising our finances and travel for the next two weeks. I think it's also because it's Saturday at home which is my favourite day. On a lighter note I was appointed to a job starting at St Clere's teaching Maths from March 9th which is only ten minutes from where we are staying at Kez and Rod's. Bit surreal having a phone interview in Canada, and the other end of the phone is in the UK. 11/2 ... read more

Things have slowed down alot since last entry in terms of craziness, and for that I'm glad to have a bit of time off to explore and do my own thing. While I love hanging out 24/7 with people, hitting bars and acting like I was back in university, I also appreciate striking off on my own, forging my own path through the urban wilderness. Maybe I'm getting old and senile. Well senile for sure. I spent two more days in Toronto before heading back to Ottawa where I'm currently typing this entry for the world to enjoy. Those last days in Toronto were of course fun filled days spending time with friends both old and new and taking lots of pictures. I shall miss the lovely people at the Canadiana Backpackers Inn and have always ... read more

An uneventful trip from Bangkok to Vancouver. It has re-enforced my my belief that it is the most beautiful city in Canada, though I have no desire to live here again. The view from the plane as we came in for landing was spectacular with the bays, farmland, mountains and the mighty Fraser River as a backdrop. We have spent 4 days here wandering the downtown. We discovered a walking/bike trail that follows the Skytrain from at least the Metrotown to Broadway Skytrain stations. A relief from walking the sidewalks along the main streets. We leave today for Halifax and then on to Shelbourne tomorrow to pick up Tuck. It has been a wonderful trip, one of our most enjoyable. ... read more

Got up early and finished last minute packing. Ryan and i went out for a really nice breakfast in a restaurant situated beside the golf course. It was really cosy sitting by the fireplace. It was hard to believe my holiday had come to an end. Ryan dropped me off to the bus station and we said our goodbyes. I was really sad to go but know its a place i will always go back to. The drive to Vancouver takes two hours and is one of the most scenic drives ive ever experienced. I was just staring out the window the whole time astounded by its beauty. Again it was another blue sky day which reflected on the water, making it the bluest water ive seen. It just looked stunning with the white mountains in ... read more

So, now it's already weekend again. Time really flies by.. I just don't want to count how many time is still left, it's just too little.. This week was just like most weeks, classes, sports (Actually, I also started playing squash here now, which is a lot of fun!! Ok, after the first time I had such sore muscles that I could barely walk the next day, but it's getting better :)), etc. The movie this Monday was a lot better than the last one, we've seen Kiss kiss bang bang, which I found really great. Wednesday we've been to the Battle of the Bands in Whiskey's, it was really nice to see some live music for a change, and most of the bands weren't bad at all! Thursday the Den, of course after standing in ... read more

Phil lent us his cell phone to use as an alarm as we are still travelling without a watch. We got up at 6.15, and Phil's best friend and colleague Paul picked us up a bit after seven. He was meeting some other Australian friends at Whistler so we were lucky to get a free trip up there. Some of the sights on the way up to Whistler were amazing, with bright blue sky as far as the eye could see. There was some roadside construction being conducted in preparation for the next Winter Olympics at Whistler in 2010. On arrival we bidded Paul goodbye and thanked him before heading to the information centre to work out what we were going to do. We decided to go on the gondola up Whistler Mountain (yes, another gondola) ... read more

Woke up and thankfully my ankle was feeling better. The swelling had come down a lot and thank god as it was my last day riding. Decided to go up Blackcomb. All my mates were working so unfortunately was riding on my own. But up there you just end up making friends with anyone. So i had been talking to this 20 year old kid who seemed to have fallen in love with me on the chairlift. He was just wierd, saying the most random things. Anyway i did one run with him and tried to lose him but i couldn't. Plan B - half an hour later i had to lie and say i was meeting a friend at the rendezvous restaurant, but that didn't work either as he just hung around. After something to ... read more

Wer will sich da beschweren?
