Vandaag eerste colleges gehad. Kleine klas, goede docent, leuk onderwerp.

Today we left Banff and headed towards Jasper, approximately 200 km north. The drive is along a beautiful but sometimes treacherous road called the Icefield Parkway. It passes a number of glaciers which you can stop and view and at one spot you can even touch the toe of the glacier. In winter, this is a bit hard because everything is white and icy. You wouldn’t know where the snow finished and the glacier started! Also it we had limited daylight hours to make the drive and it was snowing on the way there. With snow falling along such a road, your goal is to spend as little time on it as possible! However, there is a small road between Banff and Lake Louise called the Bow Valley Parkway which we drove along before hitting the ... read more

January 10: I hope this adage is true and all will now fall in place. To start, we arrived at Halifax Airport a day early!!! I had given myself a day's leeway in case of snowstorm on our drive back east from Christmas in Quebec and had lost track of day and date. Better early than late. We left Shelbourne, NS as scheduled (so I thought). Tuck ignored us when we left. I guess he thought we would be back shortly as we did not put his food bin in the back of the truck and he had had enough travelling in the last few days (1500 km). Belinda says he has not tacken his eyes off the baggage we left behind since we left. In any case, we were up at 4 am and showed ... read more

Well...its coming up pretty quick. Its amazing how many things you forget when you have been planning for a year. I just realized that before I leave I have to get my hair done, legs waxed, brows trimmed and many other forms of plucking picking and pulling absolutely have to happen. Oh Yeah....and I gotta lose ten pounds. Maybe I will just borrow one of my girlfiends pills and be done with it. Today I went to try and get the jewellry for my BIG DAY. I could not decide so instead I bought two different sets. Surely you all understand that I have never bought jewellry before. Here I am making two very large purchases for this one night. Brides are freaking crazy... read more

Sunday we spent the day hiking around Sundance Canyon and Moose Marsh. The scenery was truly spectacular with the Rocky Mountains all around us. We walked about 3kms to the Canyon and then did the 2km hike up and around the Canyon. On the way back, we saw a cute little squirrel sitting on a mound of nut shells. He would run down to where his nuts were buried, dig one up and run back onto the mound where he would shell the nut and eat it. Sssooo Cute! Finally, we circled around the marsh. The whole time we were looking for wildlife but today was not our lucky day. After driving around Vermillion lakes, we headed back to our hostel for pre-dinner drinks. That night we had a delicious dinner at Giovanni's, an Italian place ... read more

We leave for India tomorrow, Monday, January 9. Accommodations are booked, save one that cancelled on us yesterday. Train travel is booked, save for two last connections that can only be done once we arrive in Mumbai. There is one train connection that is ‘wait listed. We are assured that since we are number 3 and 4 on the second wait list it is not really an issue. Yes, India Rail has at least two wait lists!! I am preparing a ‘Plan B’. The suitcases are packed and so far it looks like I have managed to keep us down to one carry-on each. Of course, we have not actually left yet so who knows. We fly through Heathrow. Our flight arrives in Mumbai Tuesday morning, 12.40 am Mumbai time. Our first taste of India will ... read more

So... this is it! I leave in three days for a flight to the other side of the world. It's a solo journey to Southeast Asia... and I'm going to be working in Ho Chi Minh City for six months. I am SO excited. I just got off the phone with a wonderful friend of mine... Kayte... and she is about to embark on her own amazing journey across Canada with her boyfriend, Jay. I wish them both the best... and lots and lots of LOVE! My trip begins out of Halifax International Airport, then a connector in London and then Malaysia Airlines to Kuala Lumpur before arriving in Ho Chi Minh City on January 12th 2006. I will be sending as many pictures as I am able to upload... (once I figure out how to ... read more

With Adam safely here and recuperated, we hired a car and headed off to the Rockies. We were meant to get a small car but ended up with a V6 Chrysler. Very Nice!!! Also good because we have tons of stuff. We drove for 2 days to get to Banff, staying overnight in Revelstoke. On our way through to Banff, we stopped in at Lake Louise to drop in on Trevor Campbell, and old friend from Berowra. He happened to be working on the front desk when we rocked up and he was suprised to say the least! After a quick chat, we looked around Lake Louise before heading into Banff. We were hoping to catch up with Trevor properly but he hasn't made it out to Banff at this stage. We arrived in Banff after ... read more
