I wrote the following article in order to spread awareness on what is still occuring, not only to Tibetans, but to Uighurs, ethnic minorities, and even citizens in the People's Republic of China today. While I am not actually there now, travelling is about being there and about how you are affected by, how you affect, people from the places in which you travel. So, these people affected me a great deal. And I can try to help affect their shameful circumstances. Besides, I did kind of travel... to Toronto...just over an hour away... that's travelling. Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, an incarnate lama from Eastern Tibet, will pass yet another year in his Chinese prison cell, location unconfirmed. He’ll spend a solitary Tibetan New Year’s, or perhaps he’ll have the company of his captors, because he had ... read more

Here is the plan of my trip. So far, only the first three stays are booked in advance, the car and the plane tickets within South Africa. I also exchanged South African currency (the Rand) in advance, which is very pretty. The rate is about 5 rands to the looney. Six more hours before take-off. ... read more

Oopss... Didn't really keep my blog up to date, did I? Ok, a brief review of the last days.. Although.. Maybe I don't have that much interesting stuff to tell you.. Went out this weekend, studied a bit.. Monday I saw March of the penguins on campus, I think it is in the cinema in Holland right now.. It had heard it was supposed to be really good, but personally I found it a bit (okay, very..) boring. It's a documentary about the life of penguins, somehow dramatized, which makes it funnier, but still.. One and a half hour of penguins was just too much for me, half an hour would have been more than enough ;). Wednesday the ISC had organized a Salsa night @ the Den. Although in the end not many people I ... read more

Also perfekt fuer Eislaufen. ... read more

I am flying tomorrow and I still don't have all my stuff packed. It's amazing just how much crap you actually need that you would never be forced to thing of until you leave. About 60% of my backpack is filled with warm clothing to Antarctica. YES, I am a little paranoid about being cold. Other than that, it is my last day at work but it's a fairly realistic assumption to say that this day is useless in terms of productivity. My plane leaves tomorrow at 3:30pm and I still don't know where I am going to sleep in Santiago because I will have a one day layover before heading to the southern tip of Argentina, Ushuaia, to begin my Antarctican Cruise. My mom has bought so many pills and drugs that I feel like ... read more

Deshalb in... read more

So I'm wandering around the big city of Toronto now. The train ride from Ottawa was nice and comfy and I'm staying with my best friends in some suburb called Mississauga. The whole place is gigantic and I'm slowly learning my way around the Go train transit system. I'll be here for another day more or so then I'm heading right downtown Toronto to stay at another hostel and do some touristy stuff. Spent Saturday with Paul and Lauren at the Zoo!! The weather was amazing, like around 10 degrees and there were a ton of animals there. Shame the Orangatangs, hippos, and grizzly bears were not out, but it is winter technically. I took a ton of pictures and I'll only put up the good ones I like best here. There were also tons of ... read more

Ahhh I love it when flights go nice and easy. No little kids next to me on this flight smashing me in the legs! I arrived in late and hightailed it right to the hostel. Spent the rest of the night being lazy and chatting with the 5 other guests in the common room. We also watched a vampire movie which made my night. Sure I've seen Interview With a Vampire like 300 times before and know every line since I'm a vampire junkie, but :D For some reason the girls staying there thought I was from Scotland or Ireland because of my accent. I didn't know I had that bad of an accent, and I'm Canadian! Well us maritimers are messed up anyways ;) The hostel is great as always and I even got the ... read more
