Bas en mijn familie hier hebben mij goed opgevangen. Mijn kamertje in Zwolle past wel 2 keer in de kamer die ik nu bewoon, dus dat is boffen. In de eerste 2 weken verkende ik downtown Calgary en heb ik wat zakelijke dingetjes geregeld. De stad is opgedeeld in een kwadrant: North-East, South-East, South-West en North-West. Er zijn Avenue’s (die van oost naar west lopen) en Streets (die noord naar zuid van lopen); beiden zijn genummerd, dus is het makkelijk uitzoeken waar je bent/moet zijn. We got up early to get to Jasper at a reasonable time, foregoing breakfast. In the car we had some fruit and vegemite on bread. While the scenery in Canada has been amazing so far, it went to a whole new level today. There were virtually no cars on the road, and those that were over took me quickly. We made a few stops to take photos of massive mountains and frozen lakes. Mt Robson is the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies (at nearly 4000 metres), and was the only one with some cloud around it. Hopefully the photos still turn out alright. There were road signs threatening sightings of moose, but there wasn't any today unfortunately. We made it home just before a major blizzard hit. Thank you, Belinda, for giving us a heads-up and meeting us half way with Tuck. It was so refreshing to feel the wind-blown snow on my face. I don't know how many times over the last month I had been dreaming of the sensation, given the dry 90+ heat of SE Asia. Last night was the Snow Moon. There was enough snow on the ground that the light reflecting from the sun on the full moon bouncing off the snow made interesting shadows of the bare branches.
