It's Monday, I've been here 3 days now and I'm finally finding the rhythm of life. So this is what travelling is all about? Expecting the unexpected, dealing with the crap, talking endlessly about the meaning of life, gaining confidence, seeing things you've never seen before, dealing with situations on your own, being comfortable in your own skin, smelling like crap, looking like crap, drinking good beer, and being in unqiue and different company! I've just used up all my time faffing around emailing you lot to tell you to read this and now I've ran out of time to actually write anything in here! Ahhhh...I'll sit down soon and write a nice little story for you all soon so please visit again soon and I promise I'll make you all smile! :-) Oh and guys...do ... read more

Well my trip to Europe has officially started ! I am currently writing this while I am at Toronto airport. Day got off to a good start, Got to the airport quiet early. We weren't sure if we needed to check in Domestic or International, but it was Domestic, which ment I was about FOUR hours early ! Oh my. Well the lady said there was stilll tons of room on the 7:00 flight to Toronto and I was going to have to wait it out anyways, so I may as well do it in Toronto ! The flight was good, we actaully arrived half an hour early, which just ment more waiting time for me ! Grabbed a quick bite to eat, should have stretched it out over my 4 hour lay over, but I ... read more

Well here goes nothing. T-minus 7 hours till take-off. I hope the plane isn't delayed at all because of the big wind storm we're having here in Southern Ontario at the moment. That or the cold snap thats moving in. Or the random snow storms that are dumping an inch of snow in 30 minutes and then dissolve into brilliant sunshine. Or the usual crap that delays every single Air Canada flight. Boy I'm being negative. I really don't want to miss my connecting flight to Edinburgh tomorrow morning. I'm going to be picked up by the owner of the hostel at the airport and then we're going to drive the hour journey into the highlands. I can't say I'm jumping with excitment at the moment. Probably when I reach the airport and I realize that ... read more

Welcome. Right now I'm sitting in my downtown apartment in Toronto waiting to go on a trip to the Scottish Highlands for 5 weeks. I can't wait. I've been trapped in Ontario for the past 3 years living in 3 different places while finishing up 2 degrees, working at 2 different thatres while attempting to break into the TV production industry. I've somewhat succeeded having just finished up 2 different shows, and now's my chance, while on a break, to get back to the UK. That's right, back to the UK. I sorta kinda used to live there for a year. Had the time of my life. It was supposed to be on a university exchange, but I sure didn't spend much time in class. I was in Leeds, the biggest student town in the UK ... read more

Well it's just 4 days to until our adventure and today is my (Bryan's) last day at work. We're all packed and ready to go - this time next week things are going to look a lot sunnier, dustier and interesting. The nerves haven't hit yet as I am pretty sure that I have no idea what we're in for - I am at the quiet excitement stage at the moment - which to outsiders looks a lot like my hyper/tense stage. Angela would say that I have one expression for all occasions. Anyway, expect a lot more of these blogs from us - providing that our email service doesn't include a 1920's era telephone, some copper wire, tinfoil and a rhino. Thanks to all that came out to our party this past Saturday - it ... read more

Wow...what a way to start the trip! As soon as i stepped off the plane, i was greated with a tremendous blanket of white everywhere. But lets go from the start. The plane journey was fine, we got through customs very quickly after a sad goodbye to the mothers. After slugging around and doing nothing, we went to board the flight...it was delayed, so a nice start. Then when we were just about to board, this family were late and the dad started up a fuss about not being booked onto the flight before me and Andy. I said he could go infront, but he just got moody and got on with it. Me and andy joked that we would be sitting next to all these little kids.....and guess what.....we were!!!! Andy was surrounded by ALL ... read more

Hi I'm writing from the lobby of the Strathcona Hotel in downtown Toronto. I'm wearing a jumper and thinking of discarding it (I just have). 10 feet away - on the other side of the plate-glass window- it,s minus ?? and there is lots of grey and white but hardly fresh snow. Rewind!! - I arrived at the bus/train station in Vancouver on Sunday and elected to take the "Canadien" train across country rather than the bus (perhaps I'll get a refund?). It was a good choice :- 2,500 miles, 80 hours, great food, great scenery (subjective), great staff, extreme enui , and EXCELLENT COMPANY. Amongst my (without exception) splendid co- passengers (and train crew) were 5 Canadian travel writers. Notwithstanding that they were enjoying a "freebee" - they were all fun, gracious and interesting and ... read more

Toronto is bitter cold with snow flurries expected. Probably wouldn't be here if work had not required it. The flight was just shy of four hours with a light load which I was thankful for...I'm still dealing with a bug of some sort I picked up in Nicaragua. I KNOW I'm not supposed to drink the water, but I didn't know I was drinking the water until it was too late. Enoe kept filling my glass with this delicious fruit juice every morning and for some reason I kept drinking it thinking it was PURE fruit juice. Anyway...that's been fun. So...I wanted to give everyone an update. By now you've probably guessed I'm home and back to work. I could do that trip with just five days off and still feel like I've vacationed. I've also ... read more
