Howdy all, It's less than 24 hrs. 'til I fly and the chaos continues. So, let's recap: * cleaning is done as much as it wants to be (sorry Jules) * one medium suitcase packed (full) * one large suitcase open on the floor, awaiting goodies I had a whole list of things in my head that I told myself that I HAD to bring. But ask me now... can I remember? All I want to do is take a nap. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... But hey, it's not like I'm going to a third-world country or anything. What I forget to bring... I will replace ten-fold! (hence the almost empty LARGE suitcase) The author takes a short break to de-stress and reconvenes at 9:30 pm I AM DONE!!!! Pat on the back for me! All suitcases filled; the ... read more

Ho hum... Yes, I've still got a MILLION things to do but I always operate better under stress! The hammering Dave part worked though... all his bits are done (Good job! Pat, pat, pat) and all that's left for me to do is book accommodation for the latter part of our trip. A cinch for a Party Princess. No pics yet (because this place still looks like Beirut) but I promise the wait will be worth it. Thanks to my pre-planning, I have several 1G memory cards for the digital camera. Look out! Still haven't figured out how to operate the camcorder. But that's what long plane rides are for, isn't it? So three more sleeps and I'm off on my little adventure. I can't wait!!! Tomorrow I'll start the to-do's for sure... Current weather check ... read more

UGH - where to start???... the countdown is ON!! I leave Toronto on Friday and I'm STRESSED to put it mildly, but in a good way. I'm totally excited and can't wait to hit the beach (minus the shark biting - no thanks!), feed the kangaroos, pat the koalas, and just chill out. Being a meeting planner, my A-type personality has reared its ugly head and now Dave, my Oz host and sidekick for this roadtrip, is paying for it. Note to Dave: there are SEVERAL blanks left to be filled in on the infamous spreadsheet so you'd better get on it!!! Party Princesses need to know ahead of time... you should know better by now... Things left to do on checklist: * pack... I'm usually a last-minute packer kinda girl, but 6 weeks is a ... read more

Ahhhhhhh, how frustrating! So, everything was going smoothly, we had a lot of time to check in, go through customs and drop off our luggage. An hour before it is scheduled to leave, it get's cancelled (freezing rain apparently, however we saw other flights leaving). Everything about our experience with Air Canada has been frustrating. Being sent to one line, to wait an hour to get to a phone, to only wait another 20 minutes to get an agent on the phone, then having to get an actual ticket printed out, etc, etc. The one saving grace about this whole experience is that we did get travel insurance (if anyone is questioning getting travel insurance and have a detailed itinerary don't question it, they have been the only good thing out of this situation). They covered ... read more

Our travels began in a less than ideal fashion. Leaving the house, the temperature was bitterly cold. The coldest day of Toronto's winter thus far. The roads were sloppy with snow and ice. We checked in around 6:00 pm. and were told that the flight was on-time for a 10:30 p.m. departure. We had an entertaining farewell dinner with family and returned to the airport. By the time we got to the gate the flight had already been pushed back to 1:00 a.m. The incoming flight was evidently delayed. At about 2:00 in the morning the plane arrived. Around 3:30 a.m. they started to board the flight. We were treated to a steller safety demonstration and pushed back from the gate expecting to depart after de-icing. About an hour later, the captain announced that the weather ... read more

Hi everyone, Well, we are on our way and, with the help of our friend Happy Pat, we are getting this blog up and running! (Actually, we are in the Checker Cab Limousine heading to the Toronto airport while Pat actually inputs this entry for us! The weather is turning nasty in London/Toronto, so we are more than happy to be getting out of here! Stay tuned for more entries after we get off the very lengthy flight and don our summer clothes for 2 weeks of bliss!) (Editor's note: if you are looking for something to read as we wait for Sandi and Wilda to actually arrive in Bali and start inputting their own blog stories, you can always go to my website at www.patmussieux.com and read my travel blog about my recent trip around ... read more

Hello One & All, First off, unfortunately we can't connect to the usb ports of the computers, that means for now we can't upload photos. Hopefully some of the hostels on our travels will but until then it's just text. When you read that somewhere is -10 degrees C and you should take another 10 degrees C off for wind chill it's hard to believe... Until now, wow it's cold. The hostel's fine, we've had a quad room with two bunk beds. We've only had to share for two nights with an Ozzy called Nathan who was friendly, (he was on his way back to London). I got a top bunk (yey!) with Debbie sleeping below me. We've been eating very healthy breakfasts of pancakes & maple syrup (our excuse is it's free). The nice thing ... read more

Hello from Canada! Oh my goodness it's sooooo cold here but at the same time it's so beautiful, there's snow and everything. Well we arrived into Toronto on friday after a short and smoothe flight, well smoothe by our standards anyway. We were then greeted by some very friendly faces, those from the Tancock family will know them as the relatives from Canada. The last time I saw Kim I must have only been a teenager and now seeing her with her family is amazing, even Nathan, Kim's cousin which I think makes him one of mine was there to greet us too which was really nice, along with Kim's children Rebecca and Ryan. Once Ryan had stopped crying after the shock of seeing us strangers we headed back to Kim and Mike's to set up ... read more

So this week-end was a write-off as I had my work “going-away” on Friday night and we got together with friends on Saturday night for one last raucous night out. Friday night was a blast! It was lovely to see so many people that I’d worked with through my 10 years and 6 positions with the bank show up to say their farewells. It’s always fun to see your normally serious fellow co-workers on the dance floor with their hands up in the air, rocking out to Sean Paul. My work friends were way too generous (led by Nardine and Mimi I am sure) and got me the loveliest necklace from our little friend Tiffany. (What girl can resist that little blue box, and all those lovely baubles?). I plan to wear it on my first ... read more
