A woman was one day walking with her son, who was slowing her down and was continuously looking behind him. She turned and said to him, Look not where you have been, but rather where you are going. So, over the next 6-10 months (budget pending), I will attempt to do this myself...as hard as it will be to forget cleaning golf shoes for the past 6 months and cleaning toilets...I will try my best. I got dropped off at Pearson by my old lady and after a round of coffees which I couldnt even drink, we said our goodbyes...no tears or anything...which is kind of weird since my mom will start balling while watching someone come down with a case of the hiccups on Grey's Anatomy. So, after having to pour out ever threating chemical ... read more

Yes folks, welcome to the last entry in our Travel Blog, or is it? Before we say our farewells, best that we fill you in on our last week here in Canada. We have had a pretty quiet week by our standards. We did quite a bit of walking around Toronto. Joy you'd be pleased with us as we averaged over 5miles most days. On Monday we went out for drinks with Tom, whom we met last Friday, and his good lady Bridget, ending up listening to a good band in a nearby pub. After another long walk on Wednesday we had a bit of a pub crawl again ending up listening to a really good band in a small bar. Wonderful for Ken, cos the lead singer was a combination look alike of a young ... read more

Yes, folks, although it just seems like yesterday that we were saying our goodbyes, we will be arriving back in good old Blighty next Sunday, The more astute among you will have worked out that our 'year' away will have lasted only 51 weeks. The shortage due to wishing to help Linda's sister Gillian celebrate her birthday on November 1 We are now in the centre of Toronto and it must be said that it is one terrific city. OK, the weather might leave a bit to be desired but the place itself is terrific. It boasts a great transport system (although we have tended to walk everywhere) it has a hugely cosmopolitan air about the place; there are separate Italian, Greek, Chinese, Indian and other districts. Unlike the UK, these districts attract and welcome people ... read more

Day 100..... Entering Quebec, the only walled city in North America, it felt as if we had been transported to another continent. We were amazed at how Eurpoean the city is. Angela particularly enjoyed the many art galleries and artisan-filled streets, and together we enjoyed lots of great food and wine. Our penultimate city, Montreal, felt very familiar. Perhaps it was the cloudy skies and persistent drizzle, but it really reminded us of London. Due to the weather we spent quite a lot of time exploring the Underground City, a modern network of shopping malls & restaurants. During a break in the clouds, we took the opportunity to stroll around the cobbled streets of the more cultural Old Town and along the Waterfront. Having dropped-off our car in Montreal, we hopped on a train bound for ... read more

So the long awaited first blog. Spent 4 pretty drunken days in Toronto due to our hostel being one of the most crazy places I've ever stayed in. It's called the Global Village Backpacker's Hostel on King Street West if any of you want to give your liver a good seeing to. Anyway, most days were spent wandering around seeing the sights. CN Tower was awesome, especially the glass floor. Feels really strange when you first stand on it hovering above the ground over 300 metres away, after you get used to it it's fine though, even had myself a wee lie down. Got some cool pics so hope they turn out alright. Went to the Skydome (baseball/football) and Air Canada Centre(ice hockey/basketball), would like to say we did the tours of the stadiums etc. but ... read more

Well howdy folks how are you all dooin? Sorry we haven't been in touch for a while but we have been on the road quite a lot and as we have mentioned before the internet facilities in the US have not been that great and rather expensive. We've had to travel to Canada for a decent internet service. Yes we are now on our last legs and arrived in Toronto last evening - good flights and nice hotel with free internet facilities yippee! But now let's take you back to where we have been and what we have done for the past week or more since San Diego. The drive from there to Flagstaff was much longer than anticipated so we stopped overnight at a Best Western in a place called Wickenburg having driven through a ... read more

We were a bit sad to leave Chicago and we had to get to the airport early. Flight was fine although weather not brilliant, some rain so therefore some turbulence. Arrived in Toronto and got to hotel OK, aain the subway here is really easy. Getting used to packs now as well so it is a lot easier. Stayed in a B&B again. It is in the Yonge and Bloor neighbourhood which is really nice (pretty posh), lovely old house. The owner Ruth is really nice and really looked after us. On arrival we were starving so she walked us round to a nice pub to show us where it was. It was a real local pub but really friendly and we had a burger with salad which was a real home made burger, the best ... read more

It's almost time! Two more days in Ontario and then i'm off to Alberta for at least 6 months (porbably 8 or 9). For those who don't know I have excepted a job at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Lake Louise, Alberta. I'll be washing dishes to start off but hopefully i'll move up in the ranks after being there a couple months. I'll be updating the blog again every so often so that everyone can see what i'm up to. I'll obviously behave myself and stay away from bears. For everyone that stopped by thank you for the good luck wishes and for ones I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to i'll be seeing you next year at some point. Keep in touch all. ... read more

Returno to Toronto. Yes, I’d like to do that again someday. It’s a very pleasant, fun and interesting city to stay at. It’s large within many attractions to explore and not get bored, has a tall beautiful skyline that can take your breath away, viewed from many different angles. It has many different ethnic neighborhoods for variety, and has a very safe small town feel to it. It’s Chinatown is huge, and nearby are also various ethnic shops and business like a Little Portugal. All over sprinkled through the city are East Indian and West Indies Restaurants, which is a novelty for me even though I come from a racially diverse part of the country. Century old architecture still survives among the mostly modern buildings such as the heavily British influenced Legislature Building, Casa Loma and ... read more
