Alright, I am getting a lil excited now. I spent 2 hours at MEC today, attempting to get another 3 inches... OUT OF MY BACKPACK. I have had to make the had decision that I am not going to be able to pack my stove and pots for our trip to the Colca Canyon. It was advised by my new friend Marco, from MEC, that we should rent that crap. So, begrudgingly i have decided not to bring my stove and pots. The really funny thing is that, I am trying to conserve room and my lil travel mate puts on facebook she is bringing a STRAIGHTER!!! Seriously.. A STRAIGHTER!!! OMG!!!! One thing that I have noticed is that traveling is somewhat of a contagious thing I think that is the wrong word. But it seems ... read more

Okay... so I am not really on my trip yet but I decided to give you something the read about. Well I am about 85% packed, I would be 100% however being the nice guy I am loaned some important items to other people who backpacked Europe and oddly enough have not had them returned... Natalia you wouldn't know where my stuff sack is do you??? Bit(h. The last week I have been doing some trip preparation: 1. Went on a refresher dive in the NAIT pool.... MMMHHHH one of my favorite things to do, go underwater and be able to see and touch hair that should not be there and see floaties that look like amoeb. 2. Shopping for a underwater camera-only to find if I would have planned ahead and purchased the same one ... read more

Spent yesterday in Mainz with Nicky, doing some shopping. Picked up an extra bag to put some of my stuff in so that it wouldn't get lost if AC f'd up again (in all honesty, I haven't had too many bad experiences with Air Canada, unlike some people, but they have managed to lose my bags once, and they've also managed to destroy one of my backpacks, so...), and some really nifty shoes... Today it was off to the airport - bus into Mainz HBF, train from Mainz to Frankfurt airport. 10-hour flight from Frankfurt to Calgary, then a short hop from Calgary back up to Edmonton. My parents met me at the airport and took me to dinner, which was lovely. I'm not sure how I feel about being home. No, that's a lie, I'm ... read more

Wanderust - a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about So made it home safe and sound for a pre-planned visit. Stayed in Alberta to squeeze the friends and family a couple of times. Actually it was 6 days. A few days to love up Natalie our precious grandbaby, get rid of the things we didn't use the last leg of this journey and add the things we think we might need for the legs of the journey to come. We truly have great family and friends here in Alberta (in Ontario too. I'll rave about them in another couple of weeks) It was so wonderful to hang out with the kids. They are such great hosts. Offering us anything we need and allowing us to just make ourselves at home in their homes. Stayed ... read more

Tomorrow, July 27th at 7:00 am, we will be departing the Acreage in the truck heading for Edmonton International Airport, where Shauna's dad, will chuck both of us and our luggage out, with a "hope it all works out" smile on his face as we head for the departure area at the airport. At 10:00 am, Shauna and I will be boarding flights bound for San Francisco and Vancouver on West Jet Airlines. Shauna will be arriving at 10:45 am, meeting up with Kate and heading for the Vancouver Consulate to pick up her Passport with Official Teaching Visa. She will then spend one night in Vancouver and be flying out to Seoul on Wednesday. Landing her in Seoul sometime on Thursday! I, will be arriving at Noon, grabbing the shuttle service to the nearest hotel, ... read more

The simplest way to put this is Shauna and I, haven't thrown in the towel just yet but are very close to giving up all together on this "South Korea or Bust..." Idea. Neither of us are in the right of mind currently as we sit in our fourth coffee shop in six-days; emailing, researching and thinking about our plans if "Bust" becomes our new adventure! Currently, we both have begun to shoot off resumes to various companies both in Canada and Abroad. We are searching for an answer to the "waiting game, the Korean Consulate of Vancouver has instilled in both of us." We are sitting on day twenty-one, of what was suppose to be a three-day transition between Calgary and Seoul. Our "melancholy-ness" has exceeded it's grace period, thirteen fold now! The only thing ... read more

I took it upon myself this morning to ask Shauna's dad, several times if he'd like my help building shelves in the barn, or putting things into the new workshop or mowing the lawn or just doing anything more handy then lounging around the house and playing Bocce Ball with Shauna for the fifth day in a row? He said simply, no but thanks for the offer. "Are you sure, you don't need some help out there?" Again he responded, that he didn't need the help. "Are you super sure, you don't need some help out there? Yet again the reply was that he didn't need my help! Shauna eventually told me he just likes to do things himself and that I should find something else to do. But that her dad would in his own ... read more
