LANZAROTE We have just spent a glorious week in Lanzarote visiting our friends, Sue and Jim who have visited the country many times and often stay during the cold UK months to get some winter sunshine. We flew into the capital Arrecife from our local Bournemouth airport and the flight was only three and half hours so we were soon enjoying the warm sunshine too. We had visited the island once before a few years ago and had grown to love this scenic Island. There are eight main islands forming the Canary Islands, which are an archipelago and autonomous community of Spain located on the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Morocco and the Western Sahara. The largest is Tenerife which we visited many years ago and did not have a very good impression of ... read more

In order to escape the bitter winter and cold of Europe I decided to have an experience going to lanzarote which is one of the 7 islands of the Canaries. I landed by night and so I had to sleep for a few hours in the airport. As a first place to stay I discovered that, there was a camping site just on the beach. El Papagayo coastline is really remote and is perfect to relax on the beach and going exploring the surroundings. But to get up here I had to walk along the rugged coast for about 4.5 km which I enjoyed since it was breezy and not too much hot. Plenty of sailing boats dotted the sea and it was spectacular. There are also nudist beaches here. To me it seemed like to be ... read more

Today we are travelling from London Gatwick to Tenerife South on Easyjet. As we are not restricted to the normal two hour check in restriction with Easyjet, we have treated ourselves to a lounge. We are pleasantly surprised by what they have on offer. They even had warm bacon baps. Progress from the lounge through to the gate and onto the plane was smooth and in no time at all, we were back in Tenerife. Another great holiday has sadly come to an end Farewell till next time folks on our next scheduled travel. It is being prepared right now.... read more

Europe » Spain » Canary Islands » Fuerteventura May 28th 2016

From last blog... Malaga - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria - Fuerteventura - Lanzarote - Barcelona - Frankfurt (Germany) We have wanted to go to the Canaries for a long time. They are a pretty remote group of islands in the Atlantic just off the coast of Western Africa and owned by Spain so we were excited about that - an island chain in the middle of nowhere with some Spanish flare - sweet, so back towards the Moroccon coast we flew! Landing in Gran Canaria, we arrived at our hotel, kicked off our bags and booked it to the beach, no Spanish flare in sight. With no intent on staying in touristy Las Palmas (Gran Canaria), we spent just one night there hopping on the ferry early the next morning for the more desolate, less ... read more

...but everyone likes a sun set!! Distance travelled from Cape Town: 4,544 nautical miles On leaving Dakar we now had another two days at sea before our next Port of call, Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. Surprisingly there were two trivia sessions on our first of the two days. Not surprisingly, Roisin and I won both (with a little help from Don and Yonkers Dave) in the evening. This is even with me talking Roisin out of a correct answer on both occasions. ‘What is the fastest breed of dog?' Immediately we both said the greyhound. However, I then had a brainwave that this seems too obvious and perhaps the right answer was ‘Whippet' Yes, I'm sure it was. In fact I convinced myself that I'd heard this question before and the answer is definitely whippet. The ... read more

Got away for Easter to Lanzarote. Went diving and on a submarine. Came back home to storm damage to the garden. Fence and pot plants damaged but not too bad. I started a new job with NHS England over seeing the whole of London. Other than that not much happening.... read more

MałaEm jak zaczynała mowić, nazwała ja w ubiegłym roku 'Małi ... read more

Co wpis, to z Teneryfy. Muszę coś z tym zrobić. Ale jeszcze nie teraz. Teraz mamy 10 dni wiosno-lata, ośmiornic i wina afrutado. Zaopatrzeni w smażonego kurczaczka, książki z naklejkami, kredki i kolorowanki plus kupną ryanową Lavazzę całkiem przyzwoicie przeżyliśmy. Czwartek i piątek to tutaj największe wielkanocne... read more
