Arrived here this morning ..gosh it's a cool 18 degrees but should warm up a bit later. Been shopping and had a leisurely coffee. We sail for Lisbon this afternoon which is our last port before Southampton on Saturday. It's been a fantastic holiday , one we will certainly remember for a long time. We have enjoyed the cruising just as much as the ports of call. The photograph is me not very elegantly enjoying a fresh coconut juice in Recfie in Brazil. ... read more

Hello from a warm sunny Tenerife. It actually took 18 hours to cruise here from Madeira, longer than we expected. I think it's about a days sailing that is equivalent to a one hour flight. This is our first 'shorts day'. It's 24 degrees with a slight breeze. There are petunias flowering everywhere along with all the lovely trees. We are sailing toCape Verde tonight and will arrive in 3 days time....so will report from there. My phone contract does not allow international calls so if you need to contact us please email... or send comment on this blog. Hope you all got yesterday's e mail. I just couldn't get this website to work. Last night we went to a musical ....world music. It was very lively and extremely energetic. There are some very good dancers ... read more

Hi, I am coming to Carnies for the first time since 1970, still backpacking, I need to know local transportation, cheapest way to get from island to island. It will be a shot to my system, to see all the changes. In La Palmer, I hiked into and lived in the Caldera, on a ranch. Does anyone know anything today about the Caldera, for that matter where best to go for a backpacker. Tim... read more

Southampton to Tenerife We left Southampton with clear skies and great fireworks before heading out into the English Channel. By 3am on the Tuesday we were heading into the first storm, we awoke in the morning in the grip of a Force 8 gale. Not too much walking on deck then!! As we cruised further South it has become warmer and we docked in Santa Cruz with sunshine and temperatures of 22 plus. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the Canaries and... read more

Sunday January 10th, 2016. Las Palmas, Gran Canaria Las Palmas is the capital of the island of Grand Canaria, and Spain's 7th largest city. The island is in the Atlantic Ocean about 100 miles off the coast of north-west Africa. As such it is the largest city in the European Union lying outside the European Continent. Founded in 1478 by Juan Rejon, the city's original name was 'Real de Las Palmas'. Rejon was head of the invading Castillian army, before engaging in war with the locals. In 1492, Christopher Columbus anchored in the Port of Las Palmas and spent time on the island on his first trip to the Americas and on hs way back to Spain. The Casa de Colon Museum in the city is named after him. Francis Drake tried but failed to plunder ... read more

Las Palmas is the largest city in the Canary Islands and the 5th largest in Spain. One problem I had on this tour was our guide. As we commenced our tour, I asked Mare why our guide was not speaking English. She informed me that he was. This provides some indication that undoubtedly missed some information on the tour. I caught about one word in twenty and Mare about one in ten. One stop was a winery. Unlike other wineries we have previously visited, the wineries grew multiple crops including coffee beans which they roasted. The coffee plants were positioned along the walkways next to the walls which had trellis's which had grape vines growing up and over the walkways providing the shade the coffee plants require. We tried 3 of the white wines which were ... read more

Napisaliśmy do M., żeby przyszła, bo może jednak będz... read more

On pyta "do you want to eat?", a ona na to "if you want to surf I'll wait". ... read more
