Ok I got one roll back, turns out I am officially still an amateur photographer with little to some skill. Well they aren't anything special but gives you a little walk through of where I stayed, some things I saw. Also I'm including 2 of the kitties from Simone's house (Dutch friend whose farm I stayed on)...one of which is named Roxy AFTER ME! Simone said she's been a little explorer since she was born, traveling the grounds, alone!!! She is so cute too by the way. She'd probably take a better photo for the GARDA too. ;) so here's a few more photos........ read more

I've got my little stamp on my passport from the 'Garda Siochana' aka 'Protectors of the Peace' aka 'National Police Service' aka, uh- 'cops'....lol! ok, I've got my stamp from them that says I'm all kool to hang out and work in Ireland until June....on my way tomorrow to get the Irish version of a SSN...now all i need is a job to finance my fairytale life here. ;) By the way they issued me an ID card and it was literally so horrible I actually cried...not exaggerating, picture this...me, outside of the GARDA--police building doubled over looking at how horrible I look in my ID picture and crying...and to those who say I'm vain....maybe you're right. Actually I think it was in part due to the hell of a day I had...right Bri? Thanks for ... read more

Well I am happy today because I move into a nice, clean house where I will have my own room and not have to suffer through anymore restless nights of hostel living...where men fart in their sleep and snore like hogs! I'm not like high maintenance or anything but I'm not in that backpacker mode in which you're likely to find people who are staying at a hostel. Dormitory life...except much more crammed-- and coed! I lived on a boat, for fuck's sake, sharing with 36 women...but jeez! Anyway, I'm starting to sound like I'm complaining or unhappy...that couldn't be further from how I'm feeling! Actually I am feeling quite elated now that I've made it to Cork. Dublin was making me a bit mad, especially after coming from the relaxed, serene atmostphere of a farm! ... read more

Hello my fellow Americans.... it saddens me to inform you, on this tragic day in February, I am still homeless in Ireland....lol. I am actively looking for a place so I can move out of the hostel! I am going to look at a place tonight, it's got a fireplace! yay! By the way, you can delete yourself off this list if I'm annoying you with my geeky travel diary...I did, however, think it was a splendid way to keep in contact with everyone! I don't want you to go and think I've fallen off the planet...NOPE---I'm still here! and I will annoy you to death....blah, blah, blah...sometimes nonsense, sometimes something worthwhile... I will be uploading photos just as soon as I get them to a photo store! I haven't had much time to play photographer...as ... read more

AHHHH, this is much more of what I was looking for....Cork is a bit more relaxed, not all the chaos of the big city...Dublin was much like any other city, honestly....busy, crowded, expensive! I enjoyed it, but coming down here to Cork was what I needed...I feel more at peace, plus I've got loads of different geographies to explore....the coast, the mountains, the city, countryside...can't wait to get a bike and take off for the day!!! I'm a bit tired, I've been lugging my GInormous bag around Ireland...My butt and thighs are going to be diesel after this...lol...but it's been a day of travel and exploration so I'm going to bed! I've spent the day on a bus for 4.5 hours and then orienting myself around Cork....Hope you are all well...I am thinking of every one ... read more

Happy Valentines' Day! I can't avoid the invasion...flower shops, restaurants, people on the street...they're all in love, it seems. lol. This city is quite neat...the typical Irish pubs adorn most streets...just how I had imagined it....well, so far...I've only been walking around for a few hours. I will take plenty of photos.... I am thinking of you all and hope you are all doing well. And, yes I will drink a guinness for everyone! yum, yum! Once I get a journal I'll write more interesting stuff on here, so I can copy it out...rather than thinking on the spot in an internet cafe...lol. ok, be in touch. LOVE YOU ALL... read more

After being on a plane for 15 hours, I finally stepped off the plane to my first view of Ireland. I almost cried it was so beautiful. Any native would look at me like I was crazy. But that view was my first of complete independence and the beginning of life abroad. One day I quit my depressing job and decided to move away and live somewhere else. It had always been a dream and all I could think was someday, when I had kids of my own, I never wanted to look back with regret at the chances I never took. So through a lot of sticky situations, I made the decision to move to Ireland by myself and live there for 4 months (or that was the plan at the time). I stayed in ... read more

Let me tell you how amazing my trip was! I went all over with the Southern half of the country and had my own personal tour guide. It was a whirl wind of a trip though! I stepped off the airplane and had a cup of tea at Andy's house. Then it was off for a three hour car ride to Galway. When stayed at Jury's hotel and once everything was setteled we went on a hunt for food. Little did I know that was going to be my last meal for 24 hours!! Then we went to a little college pubb and I had good ole heineken! Then we woke up and got in the car and headed to Youghal (another 3 hour drive!). We got lost because the road signs in Ireland are horrible(and ... read more

reunited Well it had been only a few weeks since me and BiBi left each other at Calgary airport after a night sleeping in the airport lounge. I got to Dublin airport and needless to say was a little bit excited bout seein Bi again. As usual there was a slight muddle up in communications ending with me panicking that i'd got the date wrong for going to Dublin/ wither that or something terrible had happened to Bi. Anyways we finally found one another and headed into the city to meet our hosts for the next few days. We thought it was only right that we stopped in past the temple bar area for a catch up drink first though. We it wasn't long before our hosts Lisa Sally and Micheal took us out into the ... read more

We arrived in Dublin from London’s Stansted Airport around 3pm Sunday (28th Nov) afternoon although by the time we reached our hostel (Paddy’s Palace, Dublin) it was already dark. After dumping our backpacks in our room (just a room with one bunk bed), Adam & I headed off to the famous Temple Bar district for a pint of Guinness. We visited the Temple Bar itself and then moved on to a pub called The Arlington Hotel, where we listened to live Irish music and ate a roast dinner (well I did anyway). We sat at the table with a young couple from Norway, who only in town for the weekend. After discovering we were Australian, the bloke revealed his passion for Rugby...although it turns out the game he was actually referring to was Aussie Rules. Back ... read more
