Berlin is a huge city with so many interesting places to visit and see. We opted for Berlin for its history and to find out what it is like. I throughly enjoyed my short time we had here. From the airport the public transport is easy to navigate, if you can read and follow a London tube map you won't have any trouble in Berlin. We decided on purchasing a welcome card. It gave us a 4 day travel card for all public transport and discount on lots of museums, sightseeing tours and restaurants. The U-bahn and S-Bahn can get you pretty much everywhere in the city, I downloaded a handy app before I left which works offline and tells you easy routes via the train system, it's called Berlin subway. While the primary reason for our stop in Berlin was business, it ended up to be a very enjoyable, albeit brief, visit! We had planned to meet up with one of Ralf's friends. Sven, that he attended university with in Kiev. I always enjoy our visits with him because he speaks English a little which helps and he is a very interesting man. Anyways, we had phoned him the day before to confirm out dinner plans, he told us to meet him at his office at 4:45 and dress warm because we were going on a dinner cruise on the Spree River through Berlin. Day 8 Bella When I woke in the cabin on the mountains the clouds were below us. I had Nutella on bread for breakfast (Shira told me Nutella is the best - it is). We got ready to walk down the big mountain. We walked down the mountain and it took us an hour and then we caught the cable car for the last part. We drove to hotel zwink, back in Germany. We were staying there for one night. Then we went out again in the car. We walked up another hill . It was really hard. Then we had lunch and an ice cream. What an extraordinary time it is to visit the beautiful city of Berlin. Weather has been perfect and the days have been beautiful. Berlin offer many forms of entertainment for its visitors and locals alike one of the more interesting and enjoyable aspect of this has been an event called Summer in the City. I was not looking for the event, however, the event found me as I was walking around and enjoying the scenery. From a distance the event appeared to be dozens of tents in the plaza, which I frequent for lunch, or sometimes dinner so this captured my attention to take a further look. Big day on the bus. We head off for Berlin this morning. Pretty much all day sitting. We do morning stop, lunch and afternoon stop in Poland so we still need zloty for any purchases. This is tough as I spent all mine last night when we were trying to arrange change, tips, etc. for the table. Have been offered an interest free loan from the bank of Wozniak (Barossa couple who withdrew too much in Poland). Start the trip with a game of guess what time we will arrive at our hotel. Everyone pours over maps, driving breaks, etc. All enter our times and then I realise, stupidly that google maps could have given me the driving time, then just add breaks - doh.....
