Berlin Wall with mural of Tranent car coming through it Wake up to the news that Peter, man in scooter has had a bad fall during the night and is in hospital. Starts the day off with a real downer. No details yet, other than he has badly injured his back and may need an operation.
Kari Anne stays back to help Lynne at the hospital, and Alex only knows that he has hurt his back somehow. Feel bad as their room was just beside ours and we didn't hear anything during the night.
Hmm, the tour of Berlin goes on, quietly. Drive around the streets getting info on how Berlin was rebuilt after the war. Some amazing architecture been introduced here. Lots of people lining up to walk up the dome of the parliament or one of those buildings, guide advises us not to bother as the queues are horrific, and you have to go through a passport control before they will even let you in.
Back to the hotel before we go on the next tour, East Berlin and the wall, etc. We hop on the bus to go and Lynne is there filling a few in on Peter's situation. Everyone wishes the, well, and we

Berlin Wall mural find out he has broken 2 vertebrae in his neck. Ouch.
Off we go again and this tour takes us around to the wall where all the murals were drawn after it was opened up. Ken joins us, the passport is under control, at a cost of €150 plus only valid for 7 months - bugger. He has to go back at 1500 to pick it up.
We visit a park which is a monument to the soviet soldiers killed during WW2. A pretty place now with a huge monument on the top of an artificial hill built for this area.
On to the wall. Graffiti has taken over most of these murals which doesn't make the locals happy. Still lots of original stuff visible though. Get out and do pics then onto the checkpoint Charlie museum. This is where the USA crossing was during the Cold War. The museum is tiny, hot and stuffy. We get a guided tour of the pics on the walls, and then a bit of time to see the rest of this museum. Lots of stories about the escape methods, displays of cars that were modified and used. Time up, and

Soviet memorial park with statue on top of the hill we walk past the border point and get a pic with the 3 amigos, John, Ken (lost passport) and me.
Free time now, we go for a walk to the Berlin mall, huge..... Get lunch, then shop. I buy some more jocks and socks, washing getting tight and these are lighter versions so will hand wash And dry much quicker than the others I have.... Do the streets, find the Lego attraction with the giant giraffe out the front, decide not to go in, cost outweighs the attraction factor if we don't have Charlie to share it with.
Wander around the Sony Centre. This place has an incredible roof structure. Sort of flag like roof with a centre support that is like a huge ice cream. All held together with huge cables. Meet John and Jane at 1830 for dinner.
All of a sudden the single from last night appears - oh dear. Looks like we have a guest for dinner again.... Off we go, to the Sony centre where we had seen a few interesting food places. It is raining a little so we get some umbrellas from reception. Find a place and sit outside that

3 amigos (John, Steve and Ken) at checkpoint Charlie. has umbrellas with heaters in them, and yes it has been a bit chilly today. They also have rugs on the chairs. Not too long before the rugs are being used by some. Start eating when another couple turn up so we grow from 5 to 7 quickly.
Finish dinner and back to the hotel for a relatively early night. Lynne is there again and fills us in with more details of how Peter is now. Decision tomorrow whether to operate or send him home.
