Geo: 9.45, -84.15One of the nice things about staying at Casa Buena Vista is you are near to all of the fine restaurants in the area as well as some of the live music that goes on several nights a week.We spent the day working on stories and decided to head to Raphael's Terrazos before we ran out of days. They were happy to see us and we were almost too late for the sunset but did catch some nice shots. Rafael said in about a week or so the sunset was going to shift behind the cliffs and so we were glad we made it when we did.Nice dinner and then decided to go back to Cafe Milagro and listen to the music. Was a nice duo playing jazz. We sat at the bar and ... read more

Geo: 9.38945, -84.1347he Decided to head down to see what was happening down by the park and possibly go to the park. Had not gone into the park since the first time we visited Manuel Antonio and this day was no different. The park is closed and Monday, and today, Tuesday, the lines to get into the park were quite long so we opted for our alternative plan, the secret garden.A couple of years ago, we were staying near the park and had walked around the side streets near the park and had discovered a trail through some very lush vegetation that appeared to abut the park. On previous trips we have seen quite a few birds and had the place to ourselves so we decided this was a better option to standing in line and ... read more

Geo: 9.45, -84.15We had agreed with Big Al to meet at 8:00 am to kayak. No quite on time, but the boats were there but we had not yet made our final agreement on the price so had to wait until he got there around 9:00am. His assistant had arrived around 8:00 and we watched him get everything set up and then had him call Big Al and find our where he was. We agreed on 2 hours for $35 (he had said $25 an hour) and we felt we were getting a good deal given the condition of the kayaks.Just like our boats, these boats are very stable and we had a great paddle. Because you are in protected water most of the time, you can enjoy the scenery but don't get too close to ... read more

Geo: 9.38945, -84.1347gravel road to beach, howlers and all and then Farmer's Market, la Feria and dinner at placeOn Saturdays in Quepos, there is a Farmer's Market and we decided to take a hike down the gravel road near Casa Buena Vista to the beach, ride the bus into town and check out the Farmers Market. Took off around 7:00am and our first sighting was a group of howlers crossing the road on the electric wires overhead. They were making all kinds of vocalizations and the young ones did not seem to enjoy the crossing. A few very cute ones hanging onto their mother as they crossed and one very large male making quite the majestic crossing!Saw a group of aracari in a tree but neither of us was fast enough to get a picture before ... read more

Geo: 9.38945, -84.1347We reserved our 9 night stay at Casa Buena Vista in part because of the reports of frequent wildlife sightings by guests. We saw a great deal in our time there! Our only disappointment was we did not see a sloth. However, we did see three species of monkey, a laughing falcon, wood rail, bats, mot mot, toucan, ani, and more.... read more

Geo: 9.38945, -84.1347We both had acquired strange small blisters and raised blotchy rashes during the first couple of weeks in Costa Rica. We asked Anita, our AirBnb host at Casa Buena Vista, about a visiting doctor we had read about in Tripadvisor Forum. Farmacia EconómicaShe knew the doc mentioned on Tripadvisor Forum but also said we could talk to her favorite local pharmacist, Dr. Carlos, and have him take a look and suggest something. She said she was driving down into Quepos anyway and that we could ride with her and she would drop us off there. Since there are three pharmacies (Farmacia) in Quepos and we weren't sure which one it was, we gladly accepted her offer. The pharmacy where Dr. Carlos works , Farmacia Economica, is across the street and to the left from ... read more

Geo: 9.38945, -84.1347 Sadly, our time at Birds Watching AirBnB has come to an end and we are starting a new adventure at Casa Buena Vista. Got our final packing done, bags upstairs and Thierry gave us a ride over to meet Anita, our new hostShowed us our room, and gave us a tour of the rest of the property. Our room has a private staircase down to the room which is nice. We have a small refrigerator in the room and a great view of the coastline. There are no curtains on the windows looking out to the ocean but Anita said the sun sets in the other direction. We do have curtains on the sides facing the rest of the property. The commons area in the teak house is nice. Big covered porch with chairs, ... read more

Geo: 9.45, -84.15Finding Casa Buena Vista and sunset at Runaway GrilleLow key morning doing some work on stories and catching up on expenses log. After lunch decided to go and see if we really did know where Casa Buena Vista was and then walk over to Marina Pez Vela and enjoy the sunset at Runaway Grille. Caught the bus down into town and then the bus that travels down the hill in Manuel Antonio. You can catch the bus for 345 colones from Birds Watching, take a collectivo(private car acting as a taxi)for 500 colones and the same for a real taxi. The bus that runs from the bus station in Quepos down the hill and back is 310 colones each way.Got off the Manuel Antonio bus where we were 99% sure we were supposed to ... read more

Geo: 9.45, -84.15/Finally made it out the door early for a morning hike on the trails found on the Tennis Club Quepos property. We had been told we could hike there as long as there was not a group that was using the trails for their zip line adventure. It was shady and did not seem very hot as we walked along. It seemed much easier this year to go up and down the trails and we only had to backtrack once. We were not seeing too many birds but did see quite a few of the tiny green and black frogs.Came out at the back side of the now named TiTi Resort. Last year when we were here, it did not look like it was open but there is new life being put into the place. ... read more

Geo: 9.45, -84.15/Got everything packed up the day before and the morning we left after going and enjoying the sunrise from the upper area. Eduardo was on time, loaded the luggage and we were off! We met him last year when we stayed in Tambor at his family's cabinas. He has a shuttle/tour business and we decided to go with him since we did not stay in Tambor this year. (http://www.tamboradventure.com/transfers.html)Had a very pleasant discussion about how the family business is doing and what his hopes and plans are for the coming year. Discussed the United States election year politics and he is very informed; more so than many US citizens I believe.Got to the ferry landing early enough we were able to roll our luggage to the front staircase so it will be easier to ... read more
