Well what a fantastic way to start the month. Today we decided to take an all day tour, and while it was quite good it was not what we paid for. It all began when we had to climb over the seats from the back of the van, as the side door was broken, then our fourwheel drive trip turned into a 3hr trek, as the vehicle was not working. The trek was not the easiest especially when unprepared in a skirt and sandles, it was quite steep, and very slippery and muddy from the nights rain. But you kind of got over it as the scenery in the jungle was so amazing, although my six year old son found it quite difficult, he did however enjoy a swim in the waterfall. We then headed for ... read more

Well I must say our decision was a good one, I decided this morning that the cameron highlands were our destination, so after a long bus journey, in which we were turfed out at some station due to steering problems, and thrown on the next and very over crowded bus we finally arrived. The scenery here is breathe taking, surrounded by jungle, tea plantations and other forms of farming, I knew I had made the right decision. It was kind of wierd, we had changed our plans a few times along the way, however this is the first time I have just turned up somewhere without accomodation. We were quick to find accomodation however at Daniel's guesthouse, which was great, although the accomodation it self may not even be 2star, the people here are great, and ... read more

Today I decided to let Dominic sleep in a little I think all the late nights, sleepless travel, moving around and busy days are catching up on him, although he has done really well. When he finally woke up we headed for China town, where we spent so much time browsing through the countless market stalls, and sampling the most delicious foods and sweets. China town comes alive after 10-11am, although the earlier you are the better as it is believed to be bad luck for the rest of the day if you let the first sale walk away you may get many bargains, taking away items for a fraction of the original asking price, it is often best to begin to walk away as this is when they will really try the hard sell and ... read more

To say goodbuy to the majestical Phuket was sad, not only were we farwelling Puket and this beautiful paradice, we were also saying goodbye to Thailand, somewhere that I truely love, and all the people that we had met there, and contributed so much to the fantastic time we have had, it was also sad because it means our adventure will soon be over. We began the day quite early with abeautiful buffet breakfast by the sea, before heading for a final swim. The beach at Karon is absolutely stunning, the waters so clear, and warm, although the undertow is a little strong, so you have to watch yourself a little. We then headed back to the bungalo where we were picked up to go to the airport. After a smooth flight we arrived back in ... read more

Today I decided that we wanted to do two main things, firstly I wanted to visit an orphanage, and secondally I wanted to visit a monestry at Kamala that the Australians helped to rebuild, so off I went to the travel agent, where I hired a car for 6hrs for 700bht. After yet another dress fitting, and a milkshake that took half an hour to make we were picked up for our afternoon of touring. The driver began by taking us to a fantastic temple, that really was quite beautiful, followed by a trip to a jewlery factory, a shopping centre that I really could have and should have given a miss, we then headed for a sea shell museum, and then a light house, so it was this point that I asked when we would ... read more

Well after what seemed like the longest journey in a mini bus from Koh Samui we have arrived in the beautiful Phuket, and the weather here is much nicer than it was in Koh Samui. During our trip we met a French guy of whom we decided to go halves in a Bungalo with, at Karon beech, which while still touristy is quieter and far more layed back than it is in Patong, although don't get me wrong the night life and markets in Patong are great, but Karon is certainly more relaxing, and the beech here is stunning. It is almost impossible to see the devistation that the Tsunami left behind, these people are quite remarkable the way they have rebuilt their buisnesses and lives. The bungalo is nice, and reasonably priced when sharing with ... read more

Well after two overnight bus rides, the first to Bangkok from Chiang Mai, and the second from Bangkok to Koh Samui, I am a little tired especially after last night, Dominic however slept like a baby which was good, last night I spent the night talking to a lovely British guy, Dan, from the moment I met him in the hostel in Bangkok, when I picked up some luggage I met I knew he was an amazing guy, and I felt that we could just talk and talk, it was a little sad though as he had to go to a different Island than me, although we will catch up when he comes to Australia. When we arrived in Koh Samui we did an afternoon tour, which was ok, although our half hour elephant ride didn't ... read more

This morning we all slept in a little, before getting up for breakfast, after breakfast the village women and children set up ther handicraft market, where we had time to browse, and buy at our leisure, I bought something off each of them, and some of the most amazing jewlery, most of which was handmade. We then bid farwell to the village and walked for a couple of hours to a road in which we were picked up to travel to a rafting camp where we had lunch, before bamboo rafting, the rafting was so much fun, with every-one ending up absolutely soaking, with people jumping from raft to raft, and splashing, and just having fun, it was great. After this we travelled back to Chiang Mai, where we shifted to a hotel where much of ... read more

The four of us today decided to take a two day trek, we left at around 9am with 8 other people, from all corners of the globe, travelling by this little truck to see a waterfall, before arriving at a village for lunch, in which as soon as we had eaten we were bombarded by villagers trying to sell us handycrafts, and of whom some followed us with persistance. It was also here that our trek began, we hiked for a couple of hours through villages and jungles, before arriving at the elephant camp, where we boarded elephants for our two hour trek further into the mountains, it was so amazing being up there, on the back of this gentle giant. After several hours we arrived out our destination, a village of Burmese refuggees that had ... read more

Well last night was certainly an adventure, we left the hostel, with another girl, of whom had coincidently booked the same sleeper train as the one we were going on, on arrival at the station she swapped tickets so that we were in the same compartment. On sitting down I realised that my ticket had became misplaced, which was a night mare all I could do was visualise my son and I being booted off somewhere in the middle of the night, however it eventually reappeared, so with this relief we decided to head down for a beer, half way down the train we were greeted by one of the workers, who said that she would bring our beers down, so we returned to our seats, when she arrived she arrived with two beers, and three ... read more
