We arrived i Chiang Mai this morning after an overnight journey from Bangkok on the train. Dominic and I then did a little Wat hopping, before having an afternoon swim. Tonight we were picked up and taken to the Chiang Mai cultural centre for a Khantoke dinner, which was fantastic, although there was sooooo much food there. We were then treated to traditional Thai music and dancing, before moving outside for some traditional hilltribe music, dancing and games, it was fantastic, and really something that I came here for, to experience this wonderful culture in such a way.... read more

Yesterday Dominic and I arrived at the very beatiful Ao Nang beech at Krabi. Today we headed out on an Island speedboat tour, stopping at four different Islands for sightseeing. We ate lunch on the beech at one of the Islands, with a little time for snorkling before heading to the Island with a room, or inner lagoon, Hong Island, before finallystopping for some snorkling, which was really lovely. Tonight we returned to a lovely resteraunt by the sea where we ate last night, here we had the same two people singing, and they really are great, the also remembered us from last night, the girl kept calling hello to Dominic which was really lovely. Tomorrow we will fly to Bangkok to catch the overnight train to Chiang Mai.... read more

Today Dominic and I headed out on a ferry trip to Phi Phi Island, where we first circled some of the Islands before settling and disembalking for some snorkling. We stopped about 100 metres from shore which was quite scary for a first timer like myself, and even scarier for a seven year old like Dominic, however after eventually realising that the life jacket would support hime he relaxed into it a little more, and we all swam in to monkey beech, where monkeys were every where clibing all over the beech. After snorkling we then headed for the main Island where we ate lunch and then spent the afternoon swimming before heading back to Phuket.... read more

Today Dominic and I took a day tour of Phi Phi Island which despite it being overcast was fantastic. We took a long boat firstly to James Bond Island where we then walked around, and took photos, before heading off to a depot in the sea where we then transfered into blow up sea canoes for a trip around one of the Islands, moving in and out of caves, it was absolutely stunning, it felt so tranquil floating around on the ocean in our little sea canoes, Dominic absolutely lovede it, and to me it was absolutely amazing. We then head off to a floating sea village for lunch, by this time the heavy rain had started, so our trip back to land was very wet and quite rough, and continued raining right through our ox ... read more

Today we arrived in the beautiful Phuket, at Karon beech. We did an overnight bus from Bankok, after a day visiting the grand palace which was quite stunning, and very ornate, a place that I could say that I definetely over did the photos. We then spent the afternoon attempting to get to Wat Pho, getting dragged from Taylor to jeweler and back again, until we said enough is enough, but we eventually made it. The bus to Phucket was long, but I met some lovely people that helped pass the time. After arriving in Phuket we found that Mum and Dad had checked in yesterday at Patong, so after setling ourselves and heading out for a swim we head off to Patong to meet them for dinner, eventually arriving at their bungalow, Mum and Dad ... read more

Well we arrived in Thailand yesterday, whilst Mum and Dad opted to fly, not Dominic and I we had to experience it all the proper way (yeah right!!!) we set off in a taxi at 6am and was at the Thai border by 9:30 after a crazy ride in which we passed everything in sight in clouds of dust, not seeing what was in front of us we just missed trucks, almost missed detours, the road was dirt and full of pot holes, but we made it, eventually. When we got to the border we were told to buy our tickets to Bangkok, and the bus would leave within half an hour of us getting to the other side, which was a big joke, when we got to the other side we were then told that ... read more

Ok we have been in Siem Reap a few days now, we have visit the land mines museum, and two orphanges. Yesterday we head to the temples of Angkor, which truely were amazing, although the 5am pick up was a little harsh after only a few hours sleep, I had been out the previous night with a group of people I met at our guesthouse, which was a great night, with lots of fun had by all, but I think I had barely been asleep a couple of hours and it was time to get up again. Angkor Wat was amazing, almost inconcievable that something of that magnitude could have ever been concieved by man so long ago. Dominic was however sick yesterday and still today with the bug that we had a few days ago. ... read more

Today I woke up very sick, I thought I was going to die, but I wasn't alone Mum also woke up unwell, with a tour and only one day here we decided to push ahead. First was a very rough trip out to the killing fields, not good for an upset stomach to say the least, by the time we walked around what to me seems one of the saddest eerie places that I have been, walking over fragments of bone, teeth and clothing, and getting up close and personal with the skulls, reality of the total devistation that occered here really was felt by every-one, with a guide reliving his bad experiences having lived through the regime, and having been there when the graves were opened, graves that held the remains of much of his ... read more

Well today was definetely an experience to take away with us, and one that we all saw in completely different lights. The day began quite well, we were picked up in a comfortable mini van to head towards the Cambodian border, then we had a flat tyre, this caused us to have three stops, then we got to the border, which was quite chaotic, with a quite large wait. We finally crossed the border where a bus was supposed to be waiting on the other side not dis similar to the one that we had just got off, we wrong, and WELCOME to Cambodia. Our new bus was ancient, it had holes in the roof and no airconditioning, and as if it werent cramped enough seats popped up down the aisle, where we all sqeezed in, ... read more

Today we got up early to head out of the city and to the Mekong Delta, something that I had been looking forward to quite a lot. We began with a boat ride to our first Island, where we transfered into smaller paddled boats through some of the smaller canals, which was fantastic, and so so serene, all that was to be heard was the lady paddling. After lunch we headed down a slightly bigger canal on our ferry stopping along the way to see a coconut candy factory (which was quite tasty), and then for a musical performance, and if you so desired the opportunity to hold a snake or some bees, and opportunity that I was glad to miss.... read more
