Well at the moment we are waiting before we head to the bus station for a 40hr journey to El Calafate in Southern Argentina where we will visit the glacier, in which we are quite excited about. Today we began with a long walk into the micro centre of the city to collect our bus tickets and and make reservations for a bus to Chille later in the week, we then managed to catch a local bus to Recoleta one of the cities richest areas, here we spent a couple of hours walking around the famous Recoleta Cemetery, which was absolutely amazing, inside the gates is what could almost be mistaken for a miniature city, with the most amazing tombs you could imagine, most of which are huge and lavishly decorated, within the confines of the ... read more

Today we started with a trip to San Telmo, one of the oldest areas of the city, and also the home of Tango, the Sunday antiques market lined the streets, with street performers every where, playing music, dancing the tango, using magic etc, the ambiance was amazing, cobble stonned streets, beautiful architecture, cafes, and artists, it was totally alive. This afternoon we took a city bus tour, taking in the main sights of this beautiful city, much of the cities architecture reflecting on its European routes, you could almost mistake yourself as being in Europe somewhere, we also expericed the extremes of BA from the opulant and exclusive Recoleta to the slums, we visit the colourful La Boca, which was definetely a highlight, in one of the cities poorest neighbourhoods where it is certainly advised to ... read more

Well what a day, we left home at 5am after a virtually sleepless night on my behalf I was exhausted with a sore throat before I even reached the airport, our flight from Melbourne to Sydney flowed smoothly until we had to wait 20 minutes for a bus that is supposed to leave every ten minutes from domestic to international, by the time we had reached immigration our plane was boarding, so after a relatively quick immigration we ran to our terminal arriving just in time for a final boarding call, with little time to spare before take off as we sat down. Suprisingly I of whom doesnt sleep on planes was sound asleep by the time they brought around the hot towels and kits, suprisingly I slept quite comfortably on and off for the entire ... read more

Well we have now reached our last week, and with mixed feelings, whilst it will be nice to get home I have really enjoyed the last few weeks of India, and would love to keep exploring this amazing country. Last time I had time to write we were in Mumbai, which was a very scary day, but we made it out safely and have such a story to tell now. After Mumbai we caught an overnight train to Bangalore and after a night there an early morning train to Mysore. Mysore was a really lovely place, not too busy and not overly effected by western society, which was nice, whilst there we explored the amazing palace, which was my reason for going there, the palace was amazing and with an audio guide we got a lot ... read more

The day we arrived in Mumbai is a day that I will never forget, we arrived in Mumbai after an overnight train from Jodphur, upon arrival at Banda station we caught a taxi along with a French lady, thee first observation we made was that there was no traffic on what what supposed to be a busy day in Mumbai, on arrival at CST we deposited our bags at the luggage counter, ready for a day of sight seeing, however we had to check on our tickets to Bangalore, while we were at the tourist reservation counter we learnt of the terror attacks, the siege still taking place in Colaba, and the attacks that happend at the station just hours earlier, once being told I went cold, it was a feeling that is indescribable, especially being ... read more

Dominic and I took a train to Jaipur from Dehli on the 21st of November, and although Jaipur seemed like a nice place it to was a place full of scams, we had just one day for sightseeing here, and spent more time looking at jewelery and textiles than the sights we had wanted to see, on a positive note however it is wedding season here, and we were able to witness many weddings and fireworks whilst in town. We then head further into the desert to Jaisalmer, where we visit the amazing fort, the oldest living fort in the world, with some 20,000 people living there. We also visit the city palace within the fort area which was also amazing. Jaisalmer was definetely a highlight of our trip here, quite laid back, and lovely just ... read more

Dominic and I along, with a fried from the states travelled by overnight train from Varanasi to Agra, Agra itself is quite dirty, and an old city, however we stayed within the green zone 100mtrs from the gate to the Taj Mahal, in what we saw as a little oasis in a crazy city. Day one here we took a rickshaw, although we say the mini taj and a few other sights including the back of the Taj, we had a driver that really wasnt so great and spent most of his time crying and trying to make us feel sorry for him, day 2 we saw the amazing Taj Mahal, and it was amazing and everything that I wanted it to be, although my only disappointment was the polluted skies surrounding. The three of us ... read more

We have arrived safely in Varanasi, after an amazing few days in Chitwan, Day two in Chitwan was so much fun, and absolutely amazing, we began the day with an elephant safari through the park, where we were able to see three rhinos, firstly a mother and baby, which was amazing, we also saw wild deer, monkeys, birds and a crocodile. In the afternoon we took a somewhat scary canoe ride down the river, which was a dug out canoe, from here we saw several crocodiles, and although they were at least a metre away it was quite scary. We then followed this with a walk through the elephant breeding centre, where we saw many mothers and young elephants, including the highlight, 6 day old twins, they were so adorable, and very rare, it is ... read more

We are in Pokhara, recovering after our 4 day trek, we arrived in Pokhara last Wednesday, and after Kathmandu it was definetely a nice change, it is so much more layed back here, and we are right on a lake, it is quieter, and surrounded by snow capped mountains, it really is beautiful here, and the food is great, and I am loving the Nepali staple Dhal Bhat. We started our trek on Thursday morning, with a 2 hour bus ride to the starting point, from here we walked for 4 hours, with a stop at a village for lunch. The treks here are very touristy, so we often passed other trekkers along the way. We stayed at a tea house over night, in a small village, tea houses are basic accomodation with resteraunts, very cheap, ... read more

Dominic and I finally arrived in Singapore yesterday evening, finding our hostel remarkablly well, the weather is not too hot but quite humid, my hair is so fluffy today, this morning Dominic and I took the train to see the Merlion, the symbol of singapore, and then walked to raffles hotel. We will be meeting Judy, one of the ladies that used to walk in the factory for lunch in China town later today, and tomorrow morning it is off to Nepal, so a very early start, which shouldnt be too hard, as Dominic is still on Australian time and was up at 3am, although I made him lye in bed until 7am, which he was very restless by. Must be off now, but will up date on Tuesday, hopefully with some pics.... read more
