We got up at 4:00am after not even 2hours sleep to get changed, throw (and by throw I mean literally) the rest of our stuff in our cases and be out the front of the hotel by 4:30am for our shuttle to La Guardia Airport. We checked in for our 8:35am flight with Spirit Airways to Chicago then got some food before boarding. I fell asleep very quickly due to the serious lack of sleep and woke up just before landing in Chicago just under 2 hours later. After collecting our bags we jumped in a cab to the hotel but sat in bumper to bumper traffic for quite a while. We finally arrived at Howard Johnson’s Inn Downtown on N Laselle St, checked-in and then walked to meet up with my friend Joey. I met ... read more

We woke up later today as we were feeling pretty seedy. I was still in my clothes from the night before; apparently Marnee had told me several times to change but I didn’t. We made our way on the subway down to Grand Central station to take some photos and show Nick around. It’s still breathtakingly beautiful no matter how many times you see it. From there we jumped back on the subway to E23rd/Broadway station to go and take some photos of the Flatiron Building. This was built in 1902 and because of its shape is considered to be a ground breaking skyscraper. As with numerous other wedge-shaped buildings, the name "Flatiron" derives from its resemblance to a cast-iron clothes iron. After some photos we jumped back on the subway to 16th St Station to ... read more

Not too of an early start this morning. We had done a little googling and found a place close by that you’re your washing for you; as if we have time to do it in this fantastic city. So we walked down to Sam Hop Laundry at 251 West 91stSt, dropped off our full plastic bags, paid our $8 each and left in the hope we’d at least get some of the clothes back in one piece. From there we went to a Diner we’d walked past called Big Daddy’s Diner for some breakfast. What a fantastic American style diner. American paraphernalia everywhere; Grease posters, Route 66 signs, gumball machines; you could even buy t-shirts from this place. Marnee and I both ordered the pancakes and we got a side of potato gems to share. To ... read more

Nick was being lazy this morning then in the evening had planned to meet up with his mate Kurt in New Jersey so Marnee and I had a day to be ladies of leisure. We got up and ready then headed round the corner to McDonalds for a quick breakfast. Then we jumped on the subway; my plan was to go and pick up my camera from the repair shop while Marnee ran round trying to find us tickets to a Broadway show for tonight. We were on the train when I realised I’d forgotten the slip for the camera shop so got off at the next stop and went to get that while Marnee continued in the direction of times square. I went back to the hotel, collect the stub and got back on the ... read more

Today we were up just after 8:00am as I needed to drop off my point and shoot camera to be fixed at a place I had found on W 34th Street called Chrysler Camera Repair. As we were on that street anyway, we called in and had breakfast at the Tick Tock Diner at the New Yorker Hotel on the corner of 8th Avenue and W 34th St; the meals were great. From there we jumped on the subway to head down to the South Ferry terminal for our Statue of Liberty Cruise. Luckily Marnee had prebooked our tickets online because the lines were huge. We were able to skip past most people and to board only took about 30mins as compared to the hours I'd have imagined it would take if she hadn't have booked. ... read more

We didn’t start today too early. We got ready and jumped on the train down to Café Gitane at the Jane Hotel in the West Village. I’d seen food photos from this café on the internet so had been wanting to go. It was a really cool café in a very quiet part of town. There was lovely furniture from many different eras but it all worked together. I got waffles with bananas, strawberries and blueberries, Nick got the organic beef, mashed potatoes cheese and salad and we shared a breakfast smoothie. Marnee got vegemite toast with a breakfast smoothie. From there we had about an hour to fill in so explored more of the West Village and into Greenwich Village. We walked up Jane St and onto Hudson St and stopped off (for Nick to ... read more

Happy 30th Birthday to Me! Marnee and I woke up really rough after only a short sleep. Nick had the first shower packed up his stuff and went to the lobby to order us breakfast while we finished packing. Nick had egg tacos, Marnee didn’t eat and I had birthday waffles with banana and chocolate sauce. We jumped in a cab bound for Miami International Airport for Delta Airways flight to New York. Our flight was at 1:00pm so we grabbed some Subway for lunch on the plane as we knew it would be nearly dinner time by the time we arrived. On the plane we slept for a bit then checked out the photos and videos on our phones and cameras from the night before. Most of them were quite amusing. On arriving into La ... read more

Everyone had got a pretty good sleep, but I wanted everyone to get up and enjoy my last day of being 29. We went downstairs and had breakfast at a restaurant called Maxine that was also attached to our hotel. Before getting down there though, there must have been a huge storm (that we had somehow missed) as the roads were all flooded; just another Florida downpour. At Maxine's I had a giant chicken and bacon sandwich which came with chips, Nick got a burger and Marnee got Bacon and eggs; all the meals were huge. From there we went for a walk in search of South Beach. We found it and it was beautiful. Huge area of white sand and lovely cool water to swim in. We sunbaked, explored and swam for hours. We headed ... read more

We woke up pretty early today as we had a bus to catch. Nick finished packing while Marnee and I headed down to breakfast. Marnee had Mickey waffles to finish off what had been a wonderful adventure with Disney over the last few days. We got our pre-organised cab with Lily and she dropped us off in Downtown Orlando. Where she dropped us looked like a dodgy car park but that’s where we were meeting the low budget bus company called MegaBus. Marnee and I sat with the bags while Nick went and got a few things from a 7 Eleven (he wasn’t feeling the best from the previous night’s adventures at Dick’s). Our double decker MegaBus bus to Miami eventually arrived (which had cost us only $10.50 for all three of us) and it even ... read more

Another early start for us as today we were heading to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Nick went down to breakfast and prepared our table with cutlery and drinks as he had the last few mornings, then Marnee and I headed down once we’d finished getting ready. Buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant again this morning. The concierge suggested the easiest way to get to the studios was to get a cab to one of the Disney Hotels and from there we jumped on a boat which took us up the river to the entrance of the park. Our driver to that park was lovely, her name was Lily and we made arrangements with her to pick us up tomorrow when we needed to go downtown to get the bus to Miami. Upon entrance we headed in the ... read more
