After sitting on a plane for 9hours and 40minutes we were very happy to finally make it to Beijing, China. Thinking we were now halfway there we boarded another flight almost immediately from the international terminal to head to Melbourne... or so we thought. Turns out that no, we still had to go to Shanghai to then get the rest of the flight home. We were devistated. Another hour and a bit of flying then we were in Shanghai then boarded another flight bound for Melbourne. Flying home is so painful, just the anticipation of getting there is worse then at the start of your trip I think. We flew another 12 or so hours and landed in chilly Melbourne where we collected our bags and made our way through duty free and customs then walked ... read more

Our last day in Europe. We were up in time for breakfast and to check-out. As ourflight wasn't until tonight we left our bags in storage and jumped on the tube out to Spitalfields Markets. The markets we're quite good, the only thing was that it started to rain while we were there and we kind of got stuck. When I say rain, it was bucketing down. We ending up buying these silk and satin scarves for 1pound to at least hold over our heads while we bolted back to the tube station. They didn't really work though and by the time we reach the station we were pretty drenched. Soldiering on, we jumped on the tube to head out to meet up with my friend Jackie near Harrods. Jackie is a cop in London, she ... read more

We didn't sleep in too much today as we had to be up again to have our breakfast and make our way to Leicester Square for the third day running to get the last of our half price tickets; for tonight show of Wicked. After this we jumped back on the tube to Kings Cross Station to meet up with Carl. He was good enough to come into London again to hang with us some more before we returned back to Australia. When we found him we jumped back on the tube to St Johns Wood station where we got off, stole a piece of paper from a news stand (it was an old advertisment) and wrote on the back of it so we could hold it up to the Abbey Road camera. We made our ... read more

We weren't up too late today, we had our included breakfast, got ready and headed back to Leicester Square to get some more half price tickets,; tonight for The Wizard of Oz. After we got those, we jumped on the tube to head over to St Pauls Cathedral. We took some photos, found a hot cop to get a photo with and then moved on to head toward Tower Bridge. Along the way we came across The Monument to the Great Fire of London. It stands at 61.57m tall. It stands at the junction of Monument Street and Fish Street Hill, 202 ft (61.57 metres) from where the Great Fire of London started in 1666. We didn't know at the time that you can go up to the top of it. We continued on our way ... read more

Today was the day... La Tomatina 2011!! We were up early and ready for breakfast at 6:00am. Whos silly idea was it to go out on the town before a day of thowing tomatos at each other in the heat...blah. We were struggling but made it out and on the bus by 7:15am where we drove the hour or so to Buñol, Spain. La Tomatina has been held here since (officially) 1954. Its not 100% known how or why it all came about. Some believe it started that in 1945, during a parade of gigantes y cabezudos, young men who wanted to participate in the event staged a brawl in town's main square, the Plaza del Pueblo. Since there was a vegetable stand nearby, they picked up tomatoes and used them as weapons. The police had ... read more

Today we got a little bit of a sleep-in before we had to check out of the hotel we were in and check-in to the one next door. As it turned out, the one we were in for the La Tomatina Tour had an identical one next door, just with a slightly different name. No big deal. We checked-in our stuff then had a brief meeting with the tour manager to give us all our bits and bobs for the festival and to tell us about the party tonight that was organised by the tour company. After, we then decided to have a walk around the shops in the area only to discover well, nothing much at all. So we chucked on our bathers and jumped in a cab and asked him to take us to ... read more

We got up at 9:00am after a really good sleep in. We sat by the pool for about 2 hours with the sun coming and going and I was able to call home on Viber using the hotels internet. We got ready and checked out by midday leaving our stuff at the hotel and making our way to La Rambla. We were just heading back to get lunch at the market but got distracted by the shop Zara. We have hit up at least one Zara store in almost every city we've been to, its rediculous but the stuff is stunning and so cheap here. Before we knew it we were heading down to the market at like 1:30pm and we still had to have lunch (which we did, and it was lovely) and get back ... read more

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!! We didn't drag our butts out of bed until midday, even then we still only got 5 hours sleep. We thought we'd better do something today so we walked around the corner and got a souvalaki to share for brunch. We then caught a cab back to La Rambla where we planned on hitting up the produce market only to find that Sunday is the only day of the week it isn't open. Shattered. So we walked to KFC as Mary was feeling peckish still. Even the smell of the place made me feel like i wanted to vomit. We walked round the corner to the pub we started at last night to catch up with the boys from last night but only found a few of them so then we started to ... read more

Our train arrived in to Barcelona at 9:00am. We slept in our clothes as we were too lazy and tired to get changed so we stayed in those to get off the train too. We jumped in a cab to head to the hotel. As it was only like 9:20am by that time we weren't able to check-in yet so we grabbed some clothes out of our cases, got changed in the toilets and headed out to do a hop-on hop-off tour of Barcelona. We went up past the Spanish Village and past all the arenas etc used for the 1996 Olympics then headed down toward the port where we not much later got off at La Rambla. This is the main shopping strip in Barcelona. We walked down for a little bit then found a ... read more
