Today started early; we were up by 7:00am, fed and waiting out the front for a cab to try and beat the kids to the park but had to wait 25mins. Today was Animal Kingdom Day. We started off in the African section of the park. First up was the Kilimanjaro Safari where we went throughout the park spotting all different types of animals including rhinoceros, hippopotamus, crocodiles, giraffes, gazelles, elephants, and zebras. Next up we took on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail where we walked through spotting various water birds, cheetahs, gorillas amongst other things. Next up we decided to go and see the Festival of the Lion King. This was really cool. It was like going to see the stage show of the Lion King. Trampolines, amazing costumes, music, dancers… the works. Then next ... read more

We woke today around 8:30am after quite a sound and well deserved sleep. We got up, showered and made our way down for breakfast. Today I went for the pancakes with raspberry sauce and whipped cream, some bacon and a cup of fruit. During breakfast we had decided to leave the parks until a bit later in the day to get some time by the pool in the sun. It was stunning until all of a sudden these dark grey clouds came across and then started the torrential downpour. Even though it was pouring it was still hot so it didn’t bother us much but eventually we filled in a little time in the room and got ready to catch our shuttle at 1:05pm to Magic Kingdom. We got there and went to will call to ... read more

After no sleep we got off the plane in Orlando hoping that our luggage was there and as it came out on the trolley there was the sweetest feeling of relief and excitement that they had actually made it. Thanks again Billy! We collected the bags, made time for a very excited ‘selfie’ and found the taxi rank to get to our hotel, by this time it was just before 7:00am. The drive to our hotel wasn’t too far and when we got to the Clarion Inn – Lake Buena Vista, even though it was super early the lovely lady at the counter still checked us in, amazing! I think grandpa may have been looking over us from above with all the luck we’d had in the last 8 or so hours! We dumped our bags ... read more

Check-out today was at 10:00amso we were awake at 9:00am, repacked our bags, washed our faces and put our bags in storage. This was really cheap, only 25c for the locker for the day. We used the wifi at the hostel to work out our day, which was to go out to Santa Monica to get some sun. This was to be done by catching the #217 bus heading west on Hollywood Blvd, get off that bus at the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd/Fairfax then jumped on the #704 bus all the way to the beach. We got off the bus and crossed the road and saw the lovely view of the world famous Santa Monica Pier. We crossed the bridge that goes over the freeway and made our way along to the pier, stopping to ... read more

After getting home after 11:00pm from the USA V Canada International Ice Hockey Series at Rod Laver Arena, I decided that I was so tired that I’d hit the hay and get a few hours sleep before getting up a bit earlier to finish packing and shower etc. I probably only got about 3 hours sleep before I woke at 3:20am and decided just to get up and get ready. The shower was longer then normal, trying to wake myself up. I finished packing, locked up the house and made my way to Alan and Maries to collect Nick at 5:50am. We got a brilliant run to the airport, got parked and ready to catch the bus in the long term carpark by 6:40am. We met Marnee at the Air New Zealand Check-in area. Nick made ... read more

We woke up later today, at around 9:30am. So we showered and packed our stuff before making our way to Gareth's room to leave our bags, he leaves tomorrow. We proceeded to the lobby before jumping on the train to Marina Bay for the Gardens by the Bay. When we got there we decided that we didn't need to go in to the park so we took some photos from the outside and we were satisfied with that. We made our way across the footbridge through the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and into the shops. We had some lunch, went outside and there was thunder and lightening everywhere. So we jumped back on the train bound for Douby Ghaut Station. We tried to find a place to get ... read more

We got a sleep-in today, didn't get up until 9:30, got ready and had a walked round CHIJMES, this complex across the road from our hotel. It was very quiet so we proceeded to the Blackbird Cafe for Brunch as they don't open until 11:00am. Breakfast was toast, eggs and baked beans.. All cold, and no milk for my English tea. It was still edible though as we were starving by that time. After brunch we made our way to Little Johns for our snail cream and then then met up with Linda and Jim (they are friends of Bec). We had a quick chat with them before making our way out and to ... read more

Today we were awake early, not by choice but in anticipation of the day. We were up at 7:00am and didn't and didn't have to meet until 8:15am for breakfast. As it turned out it was just Bec and I for breakfast as the other two didn't show. We wandered across to the place where we'd had breakfast a few days earlier, still just as delish! Then Bec messaged Garath who met us back in the hotel lobby to catch a cab out to the mountain to do the cable car across to Sentosa Island. While Bec had a smoke I went into the bathrooms and they had a big glass wall with the view of Sentosa. It was amazing. We jumped on the cable car ... read more

We were up at 7:40am to meet at 8:45am today to head out to the MegaZip at Sentosa Island. We walked down to Dhoby Ghaut Station, jumped on the purple line to Harbour Front Station where we had some McDonalds for breakfast then changed trains to the Sentosa Express. We got off on the island, got lost and then found our way finally to the Adventure Park. We started with getting our harness fitted then walked up the hill toward the ropes course. Well, it was all smiles until I started. I did two sections shaking like crazy before I got to the 2nd pit stop and could barely make myself go any further, only problem was there was no way down. Once you start, you ... read more

Throughout the night there was thunder and lightening galore so when the alarm went off at 6:50am I turned it off and stayed in bed for another 30mins before we got up and went to the gym. We were at the gym for about 40mins before heading back to the room, getting ready and headed off to breakfast at a lovely little cafe across the way. It was pouring with rain when we were leaving so we got a Carlton Hotel umbrella from reception. I had to leave my name and room number to make sure I returned it. After breakfast we were making our way out on the train to Changi Mall Outlets. While ... read more
