First time going to Switzerland my dad woke me up since I had passed out after my alarm ringing and I almost missed my flight, theres a first time for everything. Made it there and had a lift with a blablacar ride going to Aarau, it was a guy and his mom talking in their own language and in the end I passed out and slept all the way to Aarau. They dropped me off outside the city by the highway and I managed to hitchike into the center of the city. My friend was working all day at the tattoo studio there, but his friends brought me down to the river for a swim and for beers - its like a small piece of paradise, and I would never have found it on my own. ... read more

Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Granada July 3rd 2015

My friend moved to Granada for all of July month, so together with another friend we decided to rent a car, throw two bags in it with some clothes and go on the 8 hour drive from Barcelona to there a Friday afternoon after work. It was a long drive but the closer we got the more beautiful the views got. We arrived at night and it was impossible to find parking in the hills on the narrow roads where my friend lived, so we parked in the center and went up by foot. Theres a lot of climbing to do in this city, but the small roads, the stones and little details everywhere you look make you completely forget about it. We got to bed pretty late since we were talking like crazy - we ... read more

Europe » France » Languedoc-Roussillon » Gruissan April 20th 2015

I went up to Gruissan twice to visit some family friends - and did some stops on the way. First time I went with my dad - he rented a car and we left Friday after work. Really beautiful route - we decided to get off the high way. We went to visit his friends who had their boat Inuuk there, named after their new grandchild. They were ready with dinner and after some wine we went to bed. I slept like a baby on the boat. After this we went for a sail the day after. Really nice conditions, BUT freezing cold water and of course the two old men had to jump in the water for a dive, with only one bottle of air to look for a ship wreck that I to this ... read more

Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Sitges February 15th 2015

First time I went to Sitges was on a sunday - we still had a rental car from our snowboarding trip so it was fast and cheap getiing there. On the way we made a stop climbing up the hills finding some old ruins with a really nice view. It was beautiful and there was a really nice moment where no cars passed by, but then the noice from the highway took over again. We went for a nice walk along the marina and beach and then made it into the center. It is a small cozy city full of small nice small shops and cute little houses. After a nice lunch with live music, we walked up the the placa where there is a big cathedral. Then we walked while the sun set down and ... read more

Middle East » Turkey » Marmara » Istanbul February 5th 2015

5/2-15: Last day in Malaysia, got up around 9 and had some breakfast. Then we did some last gift shopping, and went around china town and central market. After that we went to the public swimming pool again, so nice to get away from the noise and get cooled down a bit. We went to Reggae bar for early dinner, quickly we met up with a friend who lives there before we had to go to the airport. Got there quickly and cheap with the skytrain and then airport bus. 6/2-15: Arrived early at the airport in Istanbul where we had to part again, waited with the family for their flight - my layover was 24 hours so I met up with my friend who came and met me and showed me around Istanbul. Started off ... read more

Asia » Malaysia » Penang » George Town February 1st 2015

1/2-15: Got up early and took the ferry to Penang, 3 hours very bumpy ride but it was over fast. We arrived and walked to our guesthouse Cintra Siam which is in a very old colonial building that looks really cool inside and filled with old antique furniture. 60 RM per night (shared bathroom) Went out for lunch, ended up at subway - we will make up for it at dinner. Then we went for a walk around the city, loads of cool houses and areas! Found a guesthouse where we could get rooms for 35 RM because it wasn't completely ready for customers yet - moving tomorrow! After that we went to a cat cafe but it wasn't that good, almost ended paying twice because the cashier was confused and the cats didn't have enough ... read more

24/1-15: Arrived in Kuala Perlis around 6 in the morning at got on the 7 am ferry which took around 50 mins. I slept all the way. Got a teksi (thats just how they write taxi there) to Rainbow Lodge on the west coast and got a couple of rooms for 50 RM. Nice relaxed place, the Turkish chef started talking Danish to us by surprise, he had lived in Denmark for 40 years. Next thing we hurried to the beach where I could not stay awake at all and slept most of the day in between some nice swims. We had dinner at a nice restaurant right on the beach, a big bbq plate for 30 RM with some fresh fruit for dessert while watching the sunset and listening to live music from next door. ... read more

Asia » Malaysia » Wilayah Persekutuan » Kuala Lumpur January 21st 2015

21/1-15: Taking the airplane from BCN, with connection in Istanbul where I was reunited with the whole Thamm family, first time I got to see them in a long while. Then connecting flight to KL, 9 hours - but I managed to sleep the whole way. After that a long hot walk around KL to get to the guesthouse. In this city theres no sidewalks og roadsigns so it turned out to be quite a challenge finding the place. But we arrived at our guesthouse Travelhub which is located in China Town. At that time (10 pm) it was pretty much dead. When we went to find dinner after a quick shower the local market was closing down and we settled for a bit pricy street restaurant where the chicken had more bones than meat. After ... read more

Europe » Spain » Catalonia January 17th 2015

We went down to Tarragona for just a single day trip which is just an hour on the train and very much worth it. We got their early on the day ready to go exploring. Went up the hills which had an amazing view of the whole city with the beach in front and hills in the background and really really cool graffiti art. Then we headed towards the center for some quick breakfast and wandered around a bit - before we headed on to the stunning old Roman buildings. We went to all of the roman sights - you can buy a ticket with entry to all of them - the most impressive one is probably the old amfi-theatre, you can be the judge of that yourself from the photos - OR when you go ... read more

Europe » Andorra January 10th 2015

So I ended up moving in with a Norwegian snowboard fanatic and since she would not stop talking about snowboarding all winter - a colleague decided to do something about it and plan a snowboarding trip with a few other friends. Since I had never gone snowboarding before I had nothing prepared but luckily my fanatic roommate had two sets off clothing, so I could borrow almost everything from her. Just rented the snowboard, boots and helmet in Andorra for around 20 euros which is so cheap compared to everywhere else in Europe. Ski pass was the more expensive part - 40 euros for one day - but that is very doable with everything else being so cheap. There were five of us and we rented a big car since the rest of them were all ... read more
