21/1-15: Taking the airplane from BCN, with connection in Istanbul where I was reunited with the whole Thamm family, first time I got to see them in a long while.
Then connecting flight to KL, 9 hours - but I managed to sleep the whole way. After that a long hot walk around KL to get to the guesthouse. In this city theres no sidewalks og roadsigns so it turned out to be quite a challenge finding the place.
But we arrived at our guesthouse Travelhub which is located in China Town. At that time (10 pm) it was pretty much dead. When we went to find dinner after a quick shower the local market was closing down and we settled for a bit pricy street restaurant where the chicken had more bones than meat.
After that a quick walk around the block, we found a reggae bar with a bit of life and then checked out the roof top bar at the guesthouse which had a really cool view of the city. 22/1-15: I woke up quite early and had the typical guesthouse free breakfast that tastes like air (the whitest bread in the world with fake jam).
After that
we took the train in to the centre were we saw the number one tourist attraction, Petrona towers. In the park in front we found a little fountain/swimming pool/oasis where we walked around in the water and cooled down.
Then we found some cheap malaysian lunch, really good and tasteful but when the bill came, it turned out that drinks were more expensive than anything else so be careful if you think the food looks cheap - ask for drink prices as well.
Then we headed to see Kuala Lumpur Tower which had a great view of the city. Here we found a small place we could lie down in the park and ended up all falling asleep for an hour.
Then we hiked down through a small patch of rainforest that was placed in the middle of the city - it was really bizzarre to be in the jungle but surrounded by sky scrapers.
We walked around a bit more before catching the train back to KL Sentral station, were we booked bus tickets to go to Langkawi the following night.
Hereafter we walked a bit around in Little India, the food around there smelled amazing. We ended up
randomly in a beautiful Hindu temple were we followed the munks around blessing several gods in an order that made no sense to us westerners.
Such a weird order - but a really magical and intense experience with the scents, music, bells, candles etc. - it ended up with us being blessed trying to follow whatever the rest of them did with the powder and other funny stuff they gave us.
Then we slowly and tired made our way back to China Town. Ended up having some delicious Indian and cheap food for dinner!
Then we walked through the streets a bit, there was all of the sudden way more life in the streets compared to the night before - but after a long day of walking around, we needed to go back and rest.
23/1-15: Woke up early again and had breakfast.
After that we went to another Hindu temple where a wedding was going on, everyone was dressed up in colourful clothes, the surroundings were decorated and in the back they had a big dinner party.
They invited us for the dinner but we got kicked out for wearing shorts - remember to cover knees and shoulders
when entering the temples!
Went for a walk around the city and the colonial area with old colonial buildings. Found a free museum with a lot of historic information about Malaysia.
After a quick lunch we went to an old outdoor swimmingpool, on a hill in China Town. The building looked like something from old communist china but the pool was big and got to swim a little. Plus the view was very nice as well.
After that we heard something going on inside the building and decided to check it out, it was some sort of coffee fair/competition, with very few people celebrating the wonder that coffee is
Then we went back to pick up our things on the guesthouse, went for some quick dinner and then we caught the bus to Langkawi.
