Valencia is just a 4-5 hours trainride from Barcelona, we didn't succeed to leave Friday night because we were bringing my friends dog, and they wouldnt allow him on without seing several papers - but the day after we succeeded with a smaller regional train instead. This meant we only had 1,5 days there - so we had to make the most of it. Short and cheap train ride - definitely an easy weekend trip to do while in Barcelona. Then arriving at a small cute bed and breakfast called Balcon Al Mar, really nice standards for the price (60 euros for a double room), which would have been at least twice as expensive in Barcelona. We went for a long nice walk around the city, at the marina then to the beautiful beach, this part ... read more

Asia » Thailand » South-West Thailand » Khao Lak January 10th 2014

Bangkok 9/1-14: Stayed two nights in Bangkok, arrived around 1 in the night, found our pre booked hotel room at Sawasdee Bangkok Inn, which was a cheap but fine standard hotel. Got some street food and walked around for a bit before passing out in bed. Next day we changed to our old hotel Khao San Palace Inn so we could use the roof top pool, where we stayed most of the day. In the night we booked bus tickets for Khao Lak the next day at 4:30, 850 bath and 11 hours in bus. We went for dinner with our friend Pe who found a small Thai food restaurant for us, great food but long waiting time, enough for him to start making food out of the napkins. Then we went for beers at two ... read more

9/8/2013: Arrived in Lima and went to the Point hostal in Barrio Barraco around 13, got a nice room and some good breakfast/lunch while waiting for the girls who had taken the plane instead. When they came we went for a walk and found a starbucks on a small plaza. Walked a little more and had dinner at a nice burger place. Really delicious. Back to the hostel where we had some beers in the patio and tried to teach some Brazilian guys Danish and they ended up writing a not very understandable song. 10/8/2013: Got up a little late and went for a walk downtown around Plaza de Armas and the city center - the city is quite quiet for it's size but very pretty. In the evening we had dinner at the hostel and ... read more

4/8/2013: Got of the bus really early in the morning, found a hostel called "Point" for 28 the first night and 22 the next night. We brushed our teeth and a guy came in to take some drugs and left again so we concluded that it was a party hostel. After some sleep we got up and took a shower and had some breakfast. Later we used the wi-fi and got all of the things done we couldn't in Bolivia and skyped a little. Then we went for a walk, booked a tour to Valle Sagrada and had lunch at Plaza de Armas. In the evening we walked around a small market and Plaza San Fransisco and bought some more gifts. Then we went for dinner at an "italian" restaurant, a little dissapointing food - guess ... read more

30/7/2013: We spent the first part of the day relaxing in Rurrenabaque before catching our flight back to La Paz. Arrived early in the evening and found Hostal Solario for 20 bolivianos per night. Really cheap and an okay place - no luxury though. We went out for Thai food, really good food but it took a long time before it came. Then we met up with our friend from Valparaiso and her two friends who were travelling the opposite way. 31/7/2013: Got up at 11 feeling a little sick.. Spent all day relaxing with Maren who I studied with in Chile and her two friends from back home. We went to Cafe del Mundo which became our favourite spot in La Paz - and later we went shopping and for a walk downtown. We had ... read more

25/7/2013: Slept almost all busride, the bus was better than expected but the roads were really bad and I woke up once in a while jumping up from the seat. We arrived at 7 in la paz. We found a hostel for 50 bolivianos and got a well deserved shower. Then we went for a walk around the city, found lunch at a small restaurant for 25 bolivianos (4 courses) and Iia and I walked to a mirador with a beautiful view over the city. We booked a tour into the amazonas leaving the next day, a little expensive but it will be worth it (2000 bolivianos). Then we went for a cheap burger for dinner and walked through a small local market. Then early home and pack and go to bed. 26/7/2013: Got up at ... read more

22/7-2013: Got up at 5 to leave San Pedro. We headed towards Bolivia at 6:30 and on the way we had the most amazing view of the Andes. Just before the boarder to Bolivia we saw a beautiful laguna with a couple of alpacas and a lot of flamencos around. It was really easy to cross the boarder and before we knew it our time in Chile was over. First stop was a viewpoint to see Volcano Ollaque from the Bolivia side. We also saw Laguna Negra where we stopped to have lunch but the wind was really hard so we had to eat in the car. Next up we saw Valle de Rocas, a valley full of volcanic rocks. All sights where really beautiful and all along the way we could see dessert with the ... read more

15/7-2013: We went to La Serena with our friend Cristian by car. It was though to say goodbye and now know if you will return again. Slept a lot of the way and arrived at midday - we had some lunch with the other three girls who were already there and Haroldo who we were staying with - had some really nice seafood at a restaurant at the beach. We booked a tour to Isla Damas the next day and went home to relax before dinner and a night out. We went to a reggae bar called Tsunami with live music and it was really fun. 16/7-2013: We got up early to go to Isla Damas, and got on the wrong bus cause the busdriver chose not to check the ticket.. We found out real ... read more

South America » Argentina » Buenos Aires June 5th 2013

5/6-2013: Arrived at the airport around 16 and it didnt take to long time to go through customs and everything. I took a taxi to Calle Armenia in barrio Palermo where my friend Guri lives - it's an area with a lot of small pubs, cafes and stores. In general after my taxi tour I was very impressed already, a beautiful city and very nice and talkative taxi driver - only minus was him telling me he didn't like Chilean people. They have the same love-hate relationship we seem to have with Sweden. It was so nice to see Guri again! We stayed in her room for a while talking and then went out for some really tasty tacos at a small cool restaurant. After that we went to the movies, we wanted to watch Hangover ... read more

South America » Chile » Valparaíso Region » Valparaíso April 14th 2013

I have been wanting to write a small ”in general” update here from Valparaíso since all the experiences happen non stop and I will not be making updates per day like on my usual travels. I’m so in love with this city! Every time I leave the house I see something new and exciting, graffiti, new cool houses, and interesting people etc., there is never a boring day in this city. We’ve been lucky enough to find a house in Cerro Carcel just next to Plaza Bismarc, which according to Lonely Planet is a must see spot because of the amazing view. We can see all of the coast and the sea and during nighttime we can see all of the beautiful lights that glow up. It is one of the most colorful neighbourhoods and placed ... read more
