Okay, so it would have a lot quicker to just go to the Caribbean or Florida. The first leg of the trip was 14 hours. Left left Washington DC and few over Toronto, then across the Bearing Strait, across parts of Russia and China and then down to Seoul. It was really just a 24 hour layover, but I was a chance for a quick glance. Maniac taxi driver broke every conceivable law in the one-hour trip to town. Which cost 130,000 Wan. Still don't know what that cost. I made a mental note to check the weather before next trip. I knew that the weather in Malaysia would be about 90 degrees F every day, and as a result, I did not bring any shoes or socks, only sandals and sunblock. Turns out Seoul was ... read more

There's so much to say since last time but have run out of internet time so will have to do summary for now... PENANG Not our favourite place. Lots of ladyboys in the area we were staying and very seedy at night. The beach has broken glass and poo on it but penang hill was lovely. CAMERON HIGHLANDS So pretty and a temperature to suit me... like English summer. We did a 5 hour jungle trek where Yen our tour guide dragged us through unmarkes jungle paths. We felt like Tarzan swigning from vines and crawling under tree trunks. It was a highlight of the trip though, I loved it. The tea plantations are beautiful too. I'm starting anew here and yet I know not how to begin with. Plenty has happened, and a series of events happened one after another. All leading to one big adventure-the one that I've always been looking for. In short, Jowynne sponsored me to attend Incovar. Met several people who inspired me to further pursue Buddhism. With that interest, I attended several Buddhist talks over the weekend. Met Jeff Oliver. He became my pillar of inspiration. Admiration turned into friendship. Jeff convinced me that life is an adventure, there are many things you can do if you have the will to do it. Then, I got a job. Started working as a writer and then later, accepted the offer to take up the position of a PR Consultant. Corporate world didn't quite suit me. I was ... read more

After missing the bus from Krabi due to going out on the piss the previous night my 2nd attempt was thankfully much more fruitful so was on the minibus for 11am next morning. Met a lad from Blackburn on the minibus but he was only doing a visa run so he got off at Hat Yai. I had to get off there and all to wait for the coach to Kuala Lumpur and after a 2hr wait I thought I was on my way but oh no, the pickup takes us to another travel place on the other side of town for another 2hr wait there, thankfully there was a Sizzler restaurant across the road to recharge the old batteries on spare ribs though plus my mate Tony gave us a bell so it was nice ... read more

Since i have been travelling alone i have not always been that organised when it comes to securing accommodation. Many tims i have just shown up in a place and then looked for somewhere to stay. I really never thought that i would be like this, i always felt that i would need the security of knowing i had somewhere to stay instead of just showing up, but being in places without somewhere to stay now seems par for the course. It has usually not been a problem finding appropriate accommodation anyway. The only notable problm was when i was in Byron Bay Australia where every hostel was packd and i had to get a hotel room for one night before moving to a hostel. Anyway the above does have some current relevance because i have ... read more

I have been in KL for less than three days but its been really great here mainly because of the hostel and how the environment of this hostel has made it really easy to hook up with other travellers. The hostel is calld the Red Palm and it seems that its 94% rating on hostelworld.com is well deserved, its a small hostel but it has a dorm room and a really nice communal area where its easy to relax and chat to people. Its probably the best communal area of any hostel i have stayed at because the amosphere is so cool. I want to stay longer but i cannot because they are fully booked beyond the days that i reserved on the internet, so i can't stay here no more. I am sad but i ... read more

Well, i realise that that there have not been any entries for a while but this is more because my trip is about to end and the fact that i am somewhat down about this. Anyway, i currently find myself in the city of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, a place that i decided to go to just for the hell of it and the fact that it would give me another stamp on my passport. The hostel in which i am staying also gets a higher rating than any other (94% on hostelworld) go so i also thought that was reason to go. Whilst coming into the city (by bus) i caught my first sight of the Petronas towers, which have recently held the title of the worlds highest building. I think however that a building ... read more

Ok everyone... this is it, the ultimate test.. we're heading out for India tomorrow morning.. YIKES! We have a stop over in Sri Lanka for 4 hrs or so, see what we can get out of it for those few hours.. LOL then land in Delhi in the afternoon, where our mission will be to find a taxi that will not try and scam us... LOL kidding (well who knows) we'll be fine. At least we managed to find a room on line for the first nights to ease our minds. I can't WAIT!!! So today we finally were able to do some visiting in KL, but I'm on a tight budget so opted to back out of some things that really didn't interest me that much. WE went to see the Batu Caves, a Hindu ... read more

Well, Steph and I have spent the past three days in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I can't say that we have done much with our time and I can't say that I have much to show for being here. We spent most of the first two days trying to find a flight from KL to Delhi, India. It turned out to be much more complicated then we expected. We could not book online tickets ourselves therefore had to go through a travel agency. The travel agencies were unsure as to whether Steph needed a return ticket out of India in order to be let into the country. After some serious searching (Steph took a taxi to the India Embassy), we still have no definite answer but we have a plane ticket to India for Thursday morning via ... read more

Well we've just arrived in KL this morning. We ended up being in 3 different countries in less than 24hrs.. not bad. So we haven't done much in KL yet since we're on the hunt for flights to India, which is starting to get a little frustrating because agents are giving us conflicting info. Anyway hopefully by tomorrow we'll have some tickets and we can actually start enjoying KL. We'll only be staying here for 3-4 days, since Carolyn's on a schedule and would like to see more of India, which I don't blame her. I'll just come back after and travel more of Malaysia. I can honestly say that the hostels are definetely not as nice over here compared to other places we've been, but it's all good. Angkor was amazing in Cambodia... took way ... read more
