Unser Lieblingsviertel ist San Telmo,... read more

Buenos Aires is often compared to Paris, and it’s easy to see why… you can barely walk 100m without pointing at a beautiful European style building with lovely balconies or stopping in a cute little square. At the same time, it still feels a bit manic and South American, a little rough around the edges, which makes it original. It's also far and away the best place we found in South America for GF food which was a welcome change! We liked it a lot. We had three full days in Buenos Aires, which was long enough to see all the key sights, but not really long enough to leave any time for relaxation. We lucked out with our AirBnB studio and were greeted by Ernesto and Silvia when we arrived, possibly the two loveliest, most ... read more

So the journey back to BA from Torres seemed to take for ever - about 5 hours on 2 private buses was fine and border crossings straight forward but we arrived at El Calafate airport about 4.5 hours before our flight....and there's not a lot to do there! That's where things started to go wrong... While checking in, I managed to trip over my backpack and twinge something in my back, to the extent that I could barely walk at first. We queued up to go through departures with me in quite a lot of pain, only to be told once we got to the (single!) bag machine that we were too early and couldn't go through yet. Back landside we went to the only cafe for some greasy empanadas and I tried to walk off ... read more

Nasce come piccola città di porto Buenos Aires, almeno ... read more

More than 24 hours door to door spent in that no man's land of airports and planes (apart from a brief foray into Frankfurt) finally brought us to this lovely little apartment in Buenos Aires. It's a new building and the architect is also an artist so there is whacky sculpture everywhere - I will try to get some photos put on! There's a tiny pool and jacuzzi on the roof too but they've only been open since 1 November so the water hasn't really warmed up enough yet for us to try them out. For those that don't know/remember we stayed in Buenos Aires for a few weeks during our last long trip. Being back is quite strange - everything looks familiar but is not quite the same. We keep thinking we know where we ... read more

Hey Party People, Buenos Aires is literally a city that never sleeps! It is also expensive along with the rest of Argentina. We were lucky enough to be offered a room from the couch surfing website for a total of 6 nights by this lovely couple (Romina and Pablo) who are in their mid-30’s. When we arrived into BA airport, Pablo had offered to pick us up from the airport, which is a good 1h30 from their house! When we arrived to their place in Lomas de Zamora they gave us a whole house to stay in by ourselves-amazing! They have their own house at the front, which is divided with the house they gave us by a small garden and swimming pool. That night they cooked us a traditional Argentinean BBQ with wine that we ... read more

Hello All, Today we had an early wake up as we had to walk to Los Heroes to get the airport bus into the airport. The hostel we are staying at offer a deal to the airport for $15,000 peso for 2 people, but the bus is a 15 min walk and 1,500 each, big saving. We were flying to Buenos Aires today and very excited to be going there, we are couch surfing here so hoping it will go well. Our direct flight is at 1230, it takes two hours and was about £110. The bus would have taken 24 hours+ via Mendoza and is about the same price as the flight. The flight, like most things in South America was delayed, only by 2 hours but we had to find Internet to let our ... read more

Days 10 to 14 01 March until 05 March Buenos Aires On the Monday morning I woke up in BA, looking forward to exploring and seeing the town. I got a map from the hostel and walked around the town, I ended up on the Plaza de Mayo, where I saw the Casa Rosada (the pink house) - this is the mansion and office of the President of Argentina, the Catedral - which is a lovely building that house the remains of General San Martin who was the prime leader in the South America struggle for independence , Cabildo - which housed the first government of Buenos Aires, and the Legislatura a central part of the govenment of BA. I wandered around for a few hours, enjoying the sunshine and warmth then headed back to the ... read more

Day 9 & 10 28th Feb/1stMarch 2015 Buenos Aires So after four airports (Newark, Toronto, Chile and Argentina) 3 flights, 2 buses and what’s felt like an eternity, although I only left Newark at 9pm Saturday and was at my hostel here in Argentina before 5pm Sunday, so it wasn't really as long as I thought. I arrived in Buenos Aires. It’s very warm and humid, which is a nice change from the snow and ice I left behind me in New York. I met some friendly people on each flight and the time passed quick enough, although I am looking forward to sleeping in a bed tonight and not an aeroplane. Here is a brief summary of my day so far, After the misdirection going to the first airport, in Toronto only having 20 minutes to ... read more

PART TWO Once I’d arrived in Buenos Aires airport I found that none of the cash machines in the entire airport had cash in them after spending 4o minutes walking around with my luggage trying them all. I wanted to make sure I had more than enough money for the taxi to my hostel in case a taxi would take me round the longest routes possible, which one did. I managed to change some dollars for a poor rate but I had enough for the taxi, just. Once I got to the taxi a porter was waiting by the taxis lifted my rucksack and put it in the back of a taxi for me. Of course as it is the custom I had to tip him money. Grrrr. Three minutes it took for me to realise ... read more
