Well I can certainly say Day 1 in BA ended with a huge BANG! Not long after writing my initial entry Nic and I went to a local bar for a drink and got talking to the bar man. We were asking him about La Bomba ( a really well known Argentinian percussion band who suposedly play on Monday nights. He got onto Google for us and wrote down the address and the next thing I know we are trotting through the park towards the main road, plastic beer cups in hand, (because in Argentina if you´re in a rush they´re like here have a plastic cup and take it with you, HOW FUN!). Mind you it was 6:30 and they were starting at 7. I don´t even have any idea which part of town we ... read more

Good morning folks. Well we got here safely. Arrived at about 10am and it´s now almost 5pm so needless to say it´s been a very very long Valentines day :) Getting into the city was a little tricky, I forgot to write down the address of the hotel we are staying at, I figured the name and suburb would be enough but of course there are 6 hotels with the same name in the city area. Typical eh! Anyways, after finally getting to email (whilst at one of the other 6 hotels with the same name) we got it sorted and turns out we are staying in a gorgeous little studio apartment directly accross from the cemetry in Recoleta. Best thing about it...... the shower. I always have an expectation that hotel showers are going to ... read more

Hey everyone, sorry i havent bloged for a while, i have so much to tell you so its gonna be highlights im afraid i hope you dont mind.....So BA was amazing, absolutely loved it. The first night our hostel had no water and the second day no water, but apart from that, everything was brilliant. Felt really westernised with the subte, haha one of the trains on a specific line had a really old train running on it, that was made of wood and had manual windows and doors, with victorian looking lights, was a hoot. Saw the Casa Rosada where Eva Peron gave her speech, saw Evitas grave, there was also a museum about her life which we visited and learnt about her work and her relationship with Peron. We also went to a tango ... read more

Day 9 - Dec 29 - Buenos Aires - Palermo, Recoleta & San Martin Areas. First of all, I had always read that Buenos Aires (BA) was the Paris of South America. I must agree with their assessement after a busy day of explore the city today. Statues and parks seem everywhere and the architecture of many of the buildings looks as it does in Paris. I woke up around 7:00 am this morning while Ken was still sleeping. I went down to explore the hotel to see what they had to offer and also had breakfast. I also spent time looking at their brochures the hotel had on what to do in BA. They are many thing to do and see here in BA. After Ken had breakfast, we sat out to explore Palermo where ... read more

We returned to Buenos Aires with mixed emotions. Dom was really quite excited and looking forward to going home, whereas I couldn't match her enthusiasm as I could have quite easily stayed another couple of weeks. All up we had travelled 9 weeks in South America and realistically had only scratched the surface, as it is such a large and diverse continent. But then again that is my excuse to return and visit all the sights and countries that we never had the opportunity to this time around. We returned to the Pangea Hostel in B.A. as they were so good to us when we stayed there prior to our Salta trip, but also because they had our suitcases. We left them stored at the Pangea so we could travel lightly to Salta. We did the ... read more
