Hello… well, my name is Hadas, and I’ve been travelling around Australia for about 3 and a half months now. It all started in July when me and my friend Adi flew over to Sydney from Israel (that’s where I live), we spent 3 months in the east coast, travelling from Sydney all the way up to Cairns, then Adi had to go back home and I flew to Perth. In Perth I met this really nice girl called Ester, she was my room mate in my hostel and we really hit it off (I guess I’m not the only nut around), Ester’s been staying on this cattle station that’s located in the middle of the outback (or “the bush”, as they call it here) I thought it was the coolest thing I’ve heard, since coming ... read more

Went to another Perth Glory game on the weekend, and deano finally managed to chip in with a goal. He was brought on after 15 mins becasue the striker on the pitch couldnt get his wedding ring off and had to be subbed. However, even though deano scored, he was then taken off again at half time, much to my dissapointment! Anyway, i went to the Royal Perth Show, its a bit like the kirkstall Festival, but not pathetically small, and then we were too skint to go out so got some dvd's in. We watched the local hero, which was absolutely absymal, literally nothing happened in it at all. Then the Plank, which was a Tommy Cooper film, about this piece of wood that gets nicked and they chase it around. Yeah, i wasnt impressed ... read more

An ode from Lloyd: Yesterday we finally caught a fish, It was more than anyone could wish. We cooked it at camp, Right under the lamp, And served it on a big dish. Pest In Peace Threadfin Salmon. Died: 29th September 2005 Where: Barn Hill Beach How: On the end of a No: 2/0 sized hook. Epitaph: **** Excellent crumbed. Lloyd pretty much summed it up. The Coral Coast is fantastic for fishing and we have bee lucky almost every time we put the line in the water. At the moment we are in Denham which seems to be one the best kept secrets along this coast. Warm water, great beaches, excellent fishing (even if you don’t have a boat) and a Telenet centre next to a coffee shop and opposite a park so that as ... read more

I have now made it to Oz and after some heavy questionning at immigration was allowed into the country! My first stop has been Perth. So far I have found it to be a lovely city. Easy to get around especially with free buses and friendly people. Spent a day at Fremantle or "Freo" as the locals call it. A really nice, relaxed port where I enjoyed walking around the famous markets and eating fish and chips at Cicerello's on the harbour. The museum was also really interesting and I enjoyed learning all about the immigration policies and the 10 pound ticket to Australia. Spent the evening watching Pride and Prejudice at the cinema and today I have been to Kings Park and the Botanic Gardens. Lovely with breath taking views of the city. Great to ... read more

So after spending a few weeks in perth i got myself a job on a farm, it was about four hours east of perth. The family were called Panizza's, from italian descendents and the job was farm labourer and header driver. For the first few weeks i helped maintain the farm, build fences and help with the sheep. After that they gave me a header or combine harvester as we call it and i harvested the crops for about six weeks from 6 in the morning until around 9 at night.... read more

Hello everyone, id just like to tell all you folks back home how hard life is out here. Basically i wake up, stroll to work for 10am, do some tennis coaching for a few hours then walk 5 minutes from work down to the beach, where i spend my afternoons. The kids are absolutely abysmal at tennis, so its all the more easy for me. At least they cant beat me. The head coach makes me play left handed against them, which makes me fell like a right retard. I was talking to my boss about how hard it was to get tickets for wimbledon, then he goes "yeah that didnt matter for me considering i was playing in it" which made me realise hes quite a good player. He also used to play for PSV ... read more

October 6th Deb Shuttle back to Sydney airport and catch our flight to Perth. Our vegtarian meal request did not follow our flight change. Stewardess helpful but irritating hole in their system. This was followed by a hole in Steve's rucksack. Picked up at the airport by the hostel 4WD, the boys are impressed. The weather is cool and wet. Very unseasonable we are told. The Shiralee hostel is between the city and the suburbs. We search for a supermarket but in the end make do with one of the hundreds of small asian shops. They sell everything you would expect to find in a far eastern market including chicken's feet and bird's nests. Large, clean kitchen at the hostel but there are a lot of people trying to use it at the same time. October ... read more

02.10.05 After a long, hot drive, we arrived in Broome, checked out the campsites but by then we were pretty fed up on them, so we checked into the cheapest hostel - $15 for the 1st night. Knowing that you get what you pay for, it was ok... but not many people around, kitchen was upstairs and our qualified bed-checker, Joe, found the odd bed bug... We stayed anyway. For a week at least. Joe booked his ticket back to Perth for a week's time, the girls and Hayden started job hunted. As did I, but half-heartedly as it was too tempting to be as lazy as Joe was being! We spent the week lazing, swimming and beaching, along with a visit to the local croc farm, the local outdoor cinema and a few (much needed) ... read more

Continuing our journey up the coast, we discovered that Pardoo Station, the roadhouse we wanted to stay at had closed down. So we ventured along a bumpy track, to Eighty Mile Beach. This is basically a campsite with many holiday makers, with only a beach for entertainment! A very relaxing place to spend the evening but by now we are tiring of campsites and having limited activities to entertain us once the sun has set! Bring on the bright lights of Broome!... read more

In convoy, we headed to Karijini National Park, after stocking up on food, checking tyre pressure etc! We tried to drive the bumpier route for a little while, but as Sian and Hayden took it the their (4X4) stride, little miss Tessie wasn't enjoying herself one bit. So we turned back, took the road route and met the 4X4ers at the Visior's Centre, where we paid for 2 nights in the 'campsite' ($5 per night per person). The so-called campsite was simply a piece of bumpy red ground, which I was glad not to be camping on! Oh and there was a bush loo (tin can with a hole in the ground)! What with the most annoying flies, we were all glad to head off to the gorges for a refreshing swim. We spent 2 days ... read more
