Oh...........My............God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive just got back from Fraser Island (yesterday) Its the biggest sand Island in the world and is also the most beautiful amazing place I have ever seen! I had such an amasing time there. We went for 3 days and 2 nights. There were around 40 of us in total, 10 in each car. Its not safe to swim in the sea cos of sharks and other killer things, but ther have a lot of natural lakes that you are safe to swim in. When we first got there we went straight to Lake Mackenzie. When I saw it I was lost for words. The water was so clear, completely beautiful, and the sand was so fine, I think about 10 cameras broke while we were there, because the sand is so fine it ... read more

We arrived early in Bundaberg and it was not looking good as we had to wait for anything to open for 2 hours!! We found a hostel called the Cell Block so we decided to stay there. It was very funny as we literally slept in a cell with bed covers that said cell mate haha. We also had our first tv which was great!! We explored the pretty town which looked like we had gone back in time! We visited the free Zoo (always good!) and visited an art museum which displayed aboriginal art. In the evening we went to Mon Repos Turtle Santuary where we got to see 104 baby turtle hatchlings appear from their nest in the sand and we got to hold them. A few lucky individuals including Neil were picked to ... read more

Hey, so here is a summary of my life over the past 3 weeks or so, I hope people are still reading this... Flew into Sydney where one of Renee's friends picked us up at the airport and took us over to his parents beautiful house which had the most amazing ocean view. She served us 4 different kinds of salad, eggs, toast, juice, fruit, it was amazing after eating 2 minute noodles and spaghetti for the last little while. Later on that day he drove us around, we saw some sights and then just layed on the beach, went out for singles awareness day that night, didnt meet any cute ladies like usual so I still hate the holiday. Next day we checked out the Sydney zoo, saw some cool creatures, Kangaroos look hilarious when they bounce around... ... read more

12th February 2008 Today the weather is just warm rain. It rained very heavily in the night so everywhere is steamy. We had a quick look round Maryborough but it got too wet for pictures so we set off for Bunderburg in case there was any serious flooding on the way and we couldn't get through. We stopped at the information centre in Bunderburg and booked our turtle watching trip for Wednesday when the weather is forecast to have eased a little. We are in the wet season here and there is the tail end of a cyclone going through so not much hope of sunshine for a bit. We drove to Turtle Sands caravan and camping park (recommended in the Lonely Planet Guide) and have a little cabin on the beach. It is very clean ... read more

Well lots of changes going on over here! Dave and I have been brainstorming, thinking, planning, researching and thinking again on how we can keep this dream alive. So our conclusion is to sell La Vie, buy a nice catamaran and do some charters in the Caribbean for a few years to keep the bank account topped off. Charter/Cruising season in the Caribbean doesn't start until October/November so we have some time to get the boat, get it up to snuff and get familiar with the cruising grounds. We are still working on our business plans and putting up a website but rest assured I will let everyone know about it once it's launched and will be begging for your business!!! Keep it in mind for your next all inclusive luxury vacation! I'd love some feedback ... read more

Heading down the East coast we opted to stop off at Bundaberg, not a normal stop for travellers but being turtle egg laying season we fancied taking a trip to see them. When we arrived it was peeing it down with rain so we decided to take a trip to the bundaberg rum distillery where we were able to take a tour of the factory. It was really interesting to take a walk around the processing plant to see how it's made, from the raw materials to the finished product. In 1936 the factory burnt down after it was hit by lightening, it was then rebuilt and taken over by the government so they could supply the troops and keep morale high - a fair decision we feel. Once the process is finished the liquid goes ... read more

We set off down the coast again arriving in Hervey Bay with intentions of travelling over to Fraser Island ( the world's largest sand island where they don't let you on without a 4 wheel drive), for Andy's 30th birthday. Unfortunately we arrived too late to arrange this so Andy spent his birthday getting the air con in the van fixed (for the 2nd time), watching the safety video explaining how not to get your 4x4 washed away into shark infested waters on Fraser Island, and spent the night in a caravan park in Torquay, having had a slap up meal of fish and chips. The next day though we set off bright and early to pick up our 4x4 (a Hilux, naturally) and caught the first ferry over to Fraser Island. We commenced our ve-ry ... read more

After a few days hanging around Maroochydore, we are heading north to go to either Fraser Island next or the Whitsunday Islands. Not really sure. We stayed in Bargera, which is on the coast about 15 minutes from Bundaberg. It was a nice campground across the street from the beach, with a skatepark there too. Definately not to busy right now. We have been just rolling into most spots and not having a problem getting a campsite which is good. Weather was pretty windy, and more bugs here. You could hear the screams from me and Maggie in Brisbane as we crossed the grass field at night to go to the bathroom. Here we are thinking it some killer snake wraped around our ankle, then in the daylight we see it is just some dried up ... read more

We set off very earlie today as we need to be in town to meet a lady about picking tomatoes. Bad has a swollen mouth so the drugs he is taking does not allow him to drive, so yes its girl power all the way today, the weather is miserable none stop rain, so as you can imagine we are so not up for camping. On arrival we headed straight for a camp site to ask if they had a cabin, and as luck would have it they did so we stayed the night in comfort, just as well as it rained solid all night long. We headed over to Elliots Head to set up camp, which was beautiful, the camp was on top of a beach which was small but quant. Then we headed into ... read more
