We are at Bundaberg after a night at Tannum Sands, just past the very industrial town of Gladstone. It is very dry around all north Queensland, they could sure do with rain and the air is a bit hazy from bushfires. We will be here another night before heading to quiet and pretty Burrum Sands. We called into the twin towns of 1770 and Agnes Waters on our way to Bundaberg. A thrill on the way out there, we saw two more Brolgas - the first time I'd ever seen them was at Geike Gorge so a rare sighting. One day I hope I'll see them 'dancing'. We were glad we hadn't booked the night at 1770 - although it's a very pretty spot, the caravan park looked choc-a-block. At Agnes Waters I chose fabric to ... read more

We have only a week to go before we leave Bundaberg to do the Aussie dream of travelling around forever???We have spent the last 2 years planning this trip and now were about to start this adventurer. We have just used up 3 months long service travelling to Melbourne down the coast road and back through central N.S.W. and parts of southern central Queensland just to make sure we have everything we need.Needless to say we came back to Bundaberg with a shopping list of need to get items and a throw this out attitude of things we dont need to have.So we set off in a week with a 15ft.caravan,twincab Holden Rodeo 3lt. Turbo diesel and a 11ft.tinny on top of the ute.Lets see how this adventure unfolds. We have no real set plans on where to ... read more

After a weekend spent in Gladstone, it was time to journey to the city of Bundaberg, via the Town of 1770. Wow... its a very pretty spot.... flat water, beautiful houses, cliffs, beaches and it screams out at you...." spend a week here!!!" The camping ground looks awesome...and so busy for this time of year...dont u people work? I just cant believe that the average asking price on a house is about 1.2 million....wont be investing here.... Its about 1 1/2 hours south from Gladstone, and the same north of Bundaberg ( Bundy ) Dont expect phone service from Vodafone.... until u are within a stones throw of Bundy. Bundy has always been the magical word thrown around from drinking adventures....The Famous Bundaberg Rum..... i love it! So its special to me and my liver....this is ... read more

Well, its been a while since we last wrote and you are probably thinking that we have just been having too much fun to let you know what we have been up to......however, you couldn't be farther from the truth as we have spent the last 6 weeks "fruit picking" in small town and backpacker hating Bundaberg! It really hasnt been the romantic ideal that you (and we) imagined! From day one we have more or less spent the whole time tending to the needs of the sweet potato (veg.....NOT fruit!!) and have picked, planted (which, to Alice's dismay was not sprinkling seeds, but pushing dirty great vines into the mud!), weeded, packed and vined the buggers! And these are no ordinary sweet potato either, they look like they have been on steroids as some are ... read more

Sophie had last been to Bundaberg on her previous visit to Australia in 2004 when Debbie & Rich had just moved into their new house. Since then Debbie (Sophie's friend from the UK) had been keeping Sophie up to date with the 'rennos' on the house and we were both looking forward to seeing what had been done, catching up with the new family member and swimming in that pool that had been promised to be in situ for the next visit! Debbie picked us up from the coach station on the 23rd December after our 16 hour journey from Mission Beach and we were very excited at the prospect of spending a few weeks in the luxury of a 'proper' house. From the moment we got into the house we were made to feel right ... read more

Hi everybody! I'm still in Bargara and I'm still working in the tomato buisness. But I'm on the picking machine now and the work is even harder but the money is so much better. I don't think I'm really good because I'm not fast enough, but I hope they'll keep me for the next 2 weeks. Yesterday we worked 12 hours in about 35 degrees! Theres not much to do after work, because normally I'm so tired and exhausted. All the fun stuff has to wait until Christmas. Hope you are all well. Seeya susi ... read more
