Lots of great videos, photos and stories at: www.svlavie.blogspot.com Well it’s been over 2 months since the last update and we have had a complete change of plans. Instead of going to the Solomon Islands for Cyclone season, we decided to head to Australia. We had a wonderful 7 day passage getting here (caught a white tip shark on the way!). We got here last Friday and are in the Port of Bundaberg, the rum capital of Australia. But that’s lost on us as neither one of us care much for that particular poison. After leaving Port Vila in September we tried to get to the very north most remote islands of Vanuatu, the Banks, at a rapid clip. There was an indigenous Festival there that we wanted to get to. It took us several days ... read more

About 120Km to Bundaberg today. Population around 48,000. Went to look at a cooperage where they are salvaging old oak casks and turning them into small barrels for home use. Then went to ginger beer factory where they now make lots of different soft drinks, 14 I think. ... read more

Well, now we are the east coast and heading down there is so much to see and do I don't really know where to start. From Rockhampton we went to Lake Monduran and Trevor enjoyed a day fishing on the huge lake with a fellow camper we met, he was fishing for Barramundi but sadly it was sausages for tea that night, again !!! Next we made our base at Hervey Bay and travelled out from there. We had an interesting visit to the Bundaberg Rum Factory with a tipple at the end of the tour, only a small one mind you!!! The beautiful places we visited are almost too numerous to mention so I will just pick out a few with the reasons they were special. Maryborough was fascinating, the town is clean and settled ... read more

The Last Supper Okay, so we arrived in Bundaburg thinking we were going to carry out 3 months agricultural work, which would enable us to extend our Working Holiday Visa for an extra year. That plan didn't quite work out! All five of us rocked up just before dusk to a dingy run down hostel, called Blue Dingo. As soon as we arrived we had an icky feeling. Once we were booked in were told stories about the place, which didnt help either, and found out that we may not make it through the night! We would definately be keeping our doors locked! Under one of the bunkbeds a note was etched into the wood..."...I just want to be at home with my mum..." To escape we decided to go out for dinner, our "last Supper" ... read more

We left at 10:00am for the long Journey to Trinity Beach (near Cairns). We stopped over night, after 630 kilometres, at a very expensive hotel in Mackay. We had to stay there because otherwise we would have been driving for a whole day!... read more

Another early morning today! Today we were going to Lady Musgrave Island, which is part of The Great Barrier Reef (on a boat of course). We left home at 5:40 and got a coach/mini bus ride to the Town of 1770 and got on the boat to Lady Musgrave Island! Lady Musgrave is an island that is part of the Bunker Islands. We got to the Island at 9:15 and had a tour around the Island. It was mainly trees. After the tour we got back on the boat and had a lunch break (only 10 minuets long!). Then we went for a nice long fishing trip (we meaning me, mum and Lewis) while dad went and did some scuba-diving. While fishing, mum caught a hussar, which we are having for dinner tonight! We got some ... read more

Woke up at 5:00 this morning, too early if you ask me! So we woke up early got ready and went on a boat cruise to Fraser Island, which is the biggest sand Island in the world! We got there and had a coach tour around the island and the driver/tour guide told us some information on the Island, things like why the Island was called ‘Fraser Island’ and what the names of the trees were and lots of interesting things like that! Then we were taken to Eli creek for a paddle, the water was freezing! We also looked at an old shipwreck called Maheno. It was 1/3 under the sand and rusty from the sea-water. Then we got on the coach and drove to another part of the Island which was a lake called ... read more
