I HATE WOOLONGONG. That's pretty much the moral of this blog.. They had NOT ONE pet friendly caravan park and everyone I spoke to was SO unfriendly. Not only did they not have any pet friendly caravan parks, they didn't have any free camping either. What did they expect us to do? Stupid hole of a town. Stick it up yah' bum! B,L,M xx... read more

Alex, Jenni and I took a nie daylong drive to South of NSW to Wollingong area, with stops to Stanwell ParkTops, Bald Hill Lookout, a stop at the Sea Cliff Bridge. We had a coffee at Austinmer Beach. $3.50 for the Vienna. Funny story. I thought Tasha gave me Aussie money and I paid for coffee only to find out I had Maylasian coins, with the coffee clerk wondering what the heck I was doing. Oh well. I tried. We had lunch at Port Kimbla. Had another coffee with Jenni's mom, Lorna. See the nice jewellery from Bali that Lorna sells at markets!. On the way back we stopped at Carrington Falls and with a walk ar Barwal. Driving through narrow, 2 lane roads. A fun day of sights.... read more

Day 143-145 26th-28thJanuary The morning found us donning our Australia tops and covering ourselves in Australian tattoos. We loaded up the car in the morning with a serious amount of alcohol and other things we needed for the day and headed off to our location for the day. A field. With enough space for the lads to have their annual Australia Day Cricket Match and for the rest of us to set up a gazebo and spend the whole day sunbathing and knocking back the alcoholic slush puppies! We were joining lots of Wade and Melissa’s friends and we had a lovely day in the hot sunshine getting really rather drunk, which we were reliably informed is the best way to celebrate Australia Day. By the time darkness fell, Wade, Ellory and I were pretty well ... read more

Day 140-142 23rd-25th January We checked out of the Formule 1 hotel and psyched ourselves up to drive into the centre of Sydney and find the car hire place, without a sat nav or a very good map. It was a guidebook one! I still to this day cannot believe we managed it without too much trouble, the car hire place was in a part of Sydney we didn’t know and although we had to circle around a block when we missed our turning into the car hire place that was the only mishap. We returned the car and got our deposit back (yay!) and loaded ourselves up with our bags so we could walk to Kings Cross station where we were going to get the train to Wollongong. It wasn’t that far to the station, ... read more

15 January 2010 Today was one of our slow days making the majority of it less than interesting to read about. Truthfully, I think that we were enjoying the homeliness of Jeff’s pad which (together with Chris’) made such a delightful change to the various low rent accommodations that we have slept in over the last five months that we felt no real need for entertainment over and above that which it provided. Jeff lives a ten minute walk from the beach and Gregg was keen to get his board out so, sometime in the afternoon, decided to take Angus (Jeff’s dog) out for a walk in order to give him some exercise and also to check on the surf. A little later he disappeared out of the front door, board in hand, saying I ... read more

Writing this blog almost a week after the events, reminds me that we really shouldn't let things get so far behind as Lou and I have just had to both check the photos and discuss what we did to make sure we have the right days. 13 January 2011 Today after a lazy morning, we decided that we must get out of the house and explore the area a bit further on foot. So we left Jeff's place and, as we stepped outside and crossed the road, we walked around the Coomaditchy Lagoon, which I believe is a piece of protected Aboriginal land, there is unsurprisingly lagoon which has a large collection of pelicans living upon it and its little island. After walking past this and going over the crest of the hill, the vista of ... read more

Well, soon I was sitting on the plane, on the tarmac of Christmas Island airport, the Pilot pushed the throttles forwards and we were hurtling down the runway and as we gained height, we banked to the left and I took my last look at Christmas Island for 2010. The flight to Perth took 2.45 Minutes and I arrived in the international side and I had to head to the domestic terminal which was a taxi ride which was about a half an hour away. I had travelled back with two of my colleagues, Rob and June who were having there Christmas break off the Island in, Perth with their family. They were supposed to be collecting a rental car from Budget rent a car at the international side, but were told that the car was ... read more

After volunteering at the Sydney to Wollongong MS Bike ride, I headed down to the Nan Tien Temple to see what it was all about. I've driven past it many times for work, but never had the opportunity to actually go in and have a look around. The entrance gate is quite nice, with a very well kept landscaping around the driveway leading up to the shrines and other buildings. The gardens were well kept, and I just loved all the statues of the children! Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take photos inside the buildings, but they are well worth the trip. I hope you enjoy the photos I took when I was there........ read more
