Hello, after NYE spent a few days with Ros and Eleanor’s family going the beach and round to peoples houses for lunch. Getting well looked after anyway and all the Aussies are really friendly and welcoming. . Catching the 'rip' is good fun and you just get thrown about in the waves . . been a bit cloudy and windy on a couple of days but still good fun. Went out to the local rugby social club with Ros, Sam, Eleanor and Nan. For 86 years old Nan gets round better than most! Was a good night but these people are addicted to gambling . . everywhere you turn you can have a bet - these are not normal social clubs like we have they're absolutely massive! Went up the Blue Mountains next day with Ros ... read more

After what seemed like a long flight for some reason, it was good to be back down under! The flight from Singapore to Sydney was only 7 hours, but it was an overnight flight, so maybe that was the problem. We arrived into Sydney at 6:30am with only about half hours sleep, and thought it was rather chilly 22 degrees after the temperatures we had been used to the last while in Sinagpore and Thailand! After almost 3 months of being away, Brett was extra glad to be back. Brett's Uncle Dennis picked us up, and we headed back to their house in Wollongong, which is about an hour and a bit south of Sydney. There were not many Christmas decorations in Thailand, and there were a few more in Singapore, but we definately didn't felt ... read more

It has been five long years, but I am finally back down under, like Dorothy I fell asleep one day (I happened to do it on an airplane) and arrived the next day in Oz. We spent the first week or so of our trip in Wollongong, a beach community about 1 1/2 hours drive south of Sydney. After a small bump in the road getting here (our plane was delayed 1 1/2 hours), we finally arrived to one customs official and a huge line of people, but managed to finally make it out of the airport and in to the fresh air by 11am (we were suppose to be out and about by 9am). We were immediately greeted by my good friend Matty G. Many of you will remember him from his trip to California ... read more

Wollongong is a really nice little place a little south of sydney. Whilst there we met up with Kirsty's relatives, one of whom lives in wollongong. Once we met up with them we went to the pub and ended up spending the next 8 hours there. This was really good as they are very nice people. We also did the city walk, a walk that takes a couple of hours and takes you past all the things to see in wollongong. This was good and gave us quite a few photo opportunities, it also helps you get your bearings. On christmas day we went out for a really big and tasty meal. Just to show you how much we got this is what we had: Aquas xmas set menu: Breads: mini tomato brushcetta olive tapanade grilled ... read more

20th December 2008 - EXERCISE TEMPLE AND CRAZY NIGHT OUT!!! When we arrived in Wollongon we headed straight to Woolworths for a stock up shop and then had a wander into town. I finally got my first 'not so secret santa' present and hoped that I was now on a roll........in any event I am cutting it fine!!! Later in the afternoon we headed to Nan Tien Temple for a look. Weird as set in the middle of an industrial estate but still good once within the walls. There were loads of buddhas outside the temple...cute ones doing all different exercises which we mimicked for some photos. One Buddha was bending over touching his toes and I so wanted to leapfrog it for a photo. Nat thought it a bit disrespectful so I held off on ... read more

19/12/08 = Cool Kiama Campsite Had a good sleep once I stopped worrying about van sliding off the banking and into sea. Nice to wake up in such a beautiful location and when did venture out of van, saw that 2 other vans had come and stayed overnight too. Looked like a really nice day again, so quickly did the breakfast and wash thing, then went to lay on and apprectiate beautiful beach for last time. Creamed up and was only there for 10mins when giant cloud came over and got really cold. So, drove on to Kiama. Not a far drive to Kiama and was still a little cloudy when got there, so had a look round shops. Nice town and some really lovely shops - v.quaint and old style. Glad I didn't find anything ... read more

I'm on the verge of leaving teetering on the edge of something not quite here not quite there ........................................ I have packed ridiculously light and may suffer hypothermia along the way as well as very bad fashion. I've not booked much in advance just the plane tickets and one internal flight form Delhi to Mumbai, which I think I'll try and change when I arrive. I have also booked online a train ticket to Varanasi from Delhi as I just want to get our of Delhi as fast as possible once I arrive. the Indian rail site is really great and even though I haven't booked my train journeys I have looked up the times so I have a good idea of what trains I do want to catch. And I've put all that info into ... read more

Ross: We managed to escape from Fiji with relative ease apart from a bit of a mix up with my iTrip that I’d carelessly left on one of the islands but, after some coaxing with the resort over the phone, had been successfully transferred to the Nadi ferry, only to be picked up by a Fijian do-gooder with the inability to stick to a pre-arranged rendezvous - bye bye iTrip. Bloody Fiji time! The flight to Sydney aboard a United Airlines 747 was fairly uneventful except for the fact that we’d been seated next to the galley and were therefore exposed to dangerous levels of enthralling air hostess conversation on riveting topics such as shopping and cosmetics. After touching down and passing through customs, we were finally set loose on the unsuspecting Aussie population. We had ... read more

What the hell has this guy been doin'? First he says he's going to write something else than party reviews and than he doesn't write anything for more than a month! Well,... after I was in Tasmania I had a few things to do at uni (first time since I've been here, really) and last week there were a few people couchsurfing my place (I moved closer to the beaches, the Botanic Garden, the trains, the city, ...and live in a house with some other guys now). One week ago a cool guy from Baden-Württemberg named Marc stayed for a couple of days and from Monday to Saturday two girs from Dresden and Munich surfed my bed and I was the one who had to use the spare matress. Marc is a teacher and is traveling ... read more
