Wollongong: 17th April. Hi there Bloggers (love that talk). Phil has asked that I send a message to talk about the W'gong weather so he can see if it works. I can see that Phil, Sue and Greg, Geoff Failes have registered and I know that Keith & Leonie have responded. Phil, the weather is wet, wet and more wet and it will apparently be this way for another week. You might as well stay in NZ. Fingers crossed that you all receive this... read more

Yep, they're here and causing trouble. Arrived just in time for Easter, which seemed a tad suspicious, but we were mug enough to fall for it and bought them chocolate blibies anyway. They were so damn cute it seemed a crime to break into them, although Crum soon changed her tune the second the fruit 'n' nut ran out, caving the poor little thing's head in with out blinking. The monster. They've discovered the joys of the all day City Rail ticket and like to spend their time zipping back and forth across the bay watching the world go by. A very fine thing to do too. Think they've done just about every square inch of it now, even going all the way up to Parramatta. They've been round the Opera House and even a pornographic ... read more

... read more

Day 16 So today since we have a whole week left before classes begin, we decided to travel around a little bit. We went to the zoo the other day and decided to travel to Wollongong for a one night trip. We took the train there which was really nice and surprisingly not that expensive ($20 round trip for 1 ½ hr trip) so that was good. Only problem was that when we arrived there was a crazy storm. We met a really cute old couple on the train and they said that there has been really weird weather and that it had rained more in the past week then it had in the past month… prefect. So we decided to settle into our hostel and go to a Mexican restaurant (yea!) and to see a ... read more

4 days to go- Everything is coming up so fast. I had my farewell on Thursday night, it was really good to see everyone who came, bit saddening to think I won't see them all for at least a year. The plan- 2 months in Asia, 2 months in Europe and 8 months in North, Central and South America. Departing 30th January 2008 Returning end of January 2009 unless something comes up and I manage to stay longer... Things I will miss most: My family, my friends, people from work, and my new nephew Cooper (he is only 3 weeks old and I won't see him again til he is 1 year old and will be walking around and everything) Things I won't miss: Studying, working, that pretty much covers it. What I want to get ... read more

Although it didn't really feel like Christmas, we managed to stuff ourselves, drink and be merry and all of that. We picked up my parents at the airport in Sydney on Christmas Eve, and headed back to Wollongong to Brett's aunt and uncles, who are the perfect hosts, and were nice enough to allow 8 of us from Canada all stay with them! Not to mention provide us with enough food and beer to last us until February. Brett's parents flew in on Christmas Day and it was nice for them to be with their family here in Oz for Christmas, it's been awhile. My friend Tarra, a.k.a. Teepee (bugbite and swollen eye and all) and her friend Rebecca who are both Canadian and living and teaching in Melbourne came up as well for Christmas. So ... read more

We spent 2 nights in Wollongong. Mainly as we realised our cars tyres were bordering on illegal and also because the 250km drive from Bega took a lot longer than we had expected it would. We stopped at Batemans Bay on the way up for lunch, Which had a great beach, but the weather wasn't to good and we wanted to get on. There isn't alot there in fact writting this now a few days later I find it's hard to remember.... The main reason I thought we could stop there was because the map we have said it has the biggest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere...Fokuangshan Nan Tien Temple. Not that we wont see enough Temples in Asia!!!!! We spent a lovely few hours there, and if you are stuck in the area I ... read more

All down to them misspelling the railway station sign, apparently, a story that obviously instantly endeared me to the place. It's beautiful spot too: the beach is formed by a break in the cliffs and is lined with pine trees with the hills in the background. You drive down these on the way in - about a kilometre of mad gradients with fantastic views of the ocean on the way down when the trees don't get in the way. All very tantalising. It's one of those beaches where there's always plenty going on. The sea was packed with surfers, the south end had paragliders and there was a man fishing off the rocks in the north. Couldn't resist a paddle of course, just wished I'd worn my swimmers so I could have got in properly. It ... read more

Well after days of running around and endless trips to Bunnings (the Australian equivalent of Home Depot, althought not quite the same....), Kmart, the Big W, camping stores, insurance places, banks, etc. we are finally ready to hit the road. But before hitting the road, one stop at the pub to meet Chris and Felicity and her dog Dudley. A few beers, some sunshine and an amazing view from a cliff overlooking the ocean - definately one of the nicest pubs we have been to. The Scarborough Pub is in Stanwell Tops, which is about halfway in between Sydney and Wollongong. We called it an early night as we were hitting the road the next morning with no real plan, just have to be in Brisbane next Sunday to pick up my brother Dennis and his ... read more
