Good Morning, This morning I woke up to the most beautiful sunrise! To be honest, I couldn't even see the sun, but the glow of the sun reflected on the clouds above the ocean and it caused this pink hue that bounced off the emerald water. The pictures I will list will never do it justice. It was so, so beautiful. I was up early. Around 5:30am. Around 6am....there was a dawn wedding on the ocean. A small, intimate gathering. Very beautiful and romantic! There is something just magical about waking up in this place. I could never grow tired of the beautiful colors that come to be once the sun rises. Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day in Destin. There was a VERY strong breeze which cooled temps off quite a bit. On a scale ... read more

Your true traveller finds boredom rather agreeable than painful. It is the symbol of his liberty - his excessive freedom. He accepts his boredom, when it comes, not merely philosophically, but almost with pleasure LINKS Colorado River & Trails Expeditions 801/261/1789 800/253-7328 TRAVEL TIPS A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it. After a meeting Friday evening, we had our “dry-bag” packed and an ammo-container (for important items to stay dry, like camera, binoculars, etc) ready to go. Our departure time was 6AM, for a 5-hour bus ride. Some breakfast was available on the bus and off we went to our first stop, CRATE home base. Here we received our sleep bags, numbered to coincide with our ammo-can and dry bags, then on to Lee’s F ... read more

Hello out there... I would have done this sooner, but my laptop power connection crapped out on me... ugh. So, when we are in Cheyenne I am sending it out to be serviced from the UPS store. We are visiting Jake's Aunt Nora and Uncle Mark. They have a son, Eric, who is six, so the girls are having a ball. We are staying the night at their house tonight. So, our trip started out slowly because Jake had forgotten to have our spare tire changed to the new size that we got put on. So, we drove up the highway to Tok through the night to attempt to get on schedule. We were on time when we left there. HOWEVER I did not account for the terrible frost heave conditions of the northern Yukon, so ... read more

Good Morning! I am writing to you all after a very alarming morning. The sock puppets got very out of hand. I don't want to get into it too much, but let's just say trash talking terry is back and is p.i.s.s.e.d.! She hitchhiked all the way from that Wendy's back near Orlando, FL to Destin and if she was trash talking before....she is foul mouth francine now!!! She tracked down naked sally strutters torso doll and threw her outside, almost 17 stories off our balcony!! Stained sock puppet is hiding somewhere with tootin tootie, but I just know trouble is lurking. She is scootin all over the place, swearing and puffin away!!!! She is looking for liquor, but I explained to her there is no mini bar here and since I don't drink and Ape ... read more

Started off the day by going to the gym again this morning… Then to Denny’s to try and get breakfast which was a mission and a half!! We crossed into the state of Mississippi, where the capital is Jackson and the population is about 200,000. There have been a lot of problems here over the years, especially in the 1950’s/60’s. You see the main economy was agriculture and therefore was heavily reliant on the slave trade. Hundreds of years ago Americans from the south used to take a boat to Africa and capture slaves to bring them back to the south and sell them off. As America gained more land and moved west there were designated “Slave States” and “Non Slave States”. When Abraham Lincoln was elected as President he put a stop to slavery. The ... read more

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined” . - Thoreau LINK Outdoor Outlet We had an early start on Friday and drove about 70-80 miles north to the northern end of Zion Park. It’s a little known and little used - it’s called Kolob Canyon, and we took the scenic drive up to the top and had our breakfast. We were the only ones there. Yes, there were mosquitoes; I couldn’t believe it. It was about 6,000 feet high. We tried to catch the sun coming up over the canyons, but it was the wrong angle, but still very beautiful. We did a hike on the Taylor Creek Stream and we had about 4 stream crossings. Wow, the water was cold, you could barely stand in it long enough ... read more

The rain has been coming down pretty heavy since the middle of the night. It's nice...different than Albuquerque! Wednesday, Me, Ben, and his Mom went to see the National Museum of the American Indian. It was phenomenal. Whoever the architect was--what a genius! It looks like a giant mesa, with waterfalls and streams outside. There are lots of pretty plants--native to the area. The exhibits focused a lot on the present--which I liked quite a bit. On the east coast, people seem to forget that Native Americans are still alive. There were really great displays--innovative. Anyways--go check it out. I will post some pic's of it tomorrow or sometime soon. The internet connection here is pretty slow and crappy. So it takes forever and then the pictures look yucky. Yesterday Ben and I went to Arlington. ... read more

Good Morning Everyone! It seems like I am always a day behind lately and that is just fine with me. That is what life is like down here in Destin. There is no rush. You find yourself talking things more slowly (even your talk becomes slower.....kinda a strange mix of Rhode Island and southern accent...whoah). At 6:15am I looked outside and saw the sun rising and about 20 fishing boats in the distance. I noticed them all coming closer toward the beach. It was an odd, cool sight. April and I think there were dolphins out there. She swore she saw one in the water below. This wouldn't be surprising. Destin has a large concentration of dolphins. There are dolphin sightseeing tours galore around here, however, who needs a tour when the resort you're staying at ... read more
