“Sloth is the way of death!” Quote from our crew master!! LINKS We will be looking at a place to post the pictures that we took and did not include on this and future blogs So stay tuned Picture web site TRAVEL TIPS This is a day of rapids! ABC Alive Below Crystal!! We survived the Crystal Rapids. We were wet early on in the morning. It seemed chilly, but only briefly. Floating down the Colorado, a familiar sight came into view, the bridge leading into Phantom Ranch. The temperature was sweltering, 106 in the shade and 112 in the sun. We met folks doing a “rim to rim” in one day. WOW, in this heat I can’t imagine. The post cards we mailed from the ranch are brought up to the postal service by way ... read more

Aloha everyone! I hope that things are going well for you all. I am thinking of you all.....well...sometimes anyway. Just going to share a few things that I have been doing - I am not going to put every little detail or day down because that wont make you want to come and visit the places, it will just bore you! 24/05/05: On the day that I left for Hawaii someone asked me in the afternoon at what time I would arrive in Hawaii. I thought for a moment and found it very unusual saying "This morning". The 9 hr flight on a newish 747 was very pleasant and arriving in Honolulu in the morning of the night that I left Sydney was a little confusing. Now here is a question, if I stayed in the ... read more

I left Sydney at 3pm on the 23rd and after a 13 hr flight a few movies, Jim beam blacks ( you would have loved it Walsh) and a top sunset and sunrise (B, the sun sets behind you and you case it round the world and it rises when you get close to the Calli coast) I arrived in L.A.X at 11am the same day, 4 hrs before I left. I was met by the camp people and went to the crown plaza hotel for a night. We had a couple of hours to kill so me and a few other people doing camp went for a walk around d L.A for a look. I brought a new phone and guy told me it was a Tri-band phone I can use it anywhere. The number ... read more

This whole thing was written in the terminal of SFO waiting for the flight to Seoul / Incheon. It isn't all that interesting, but it is certainly representative of the kind of things that run through my mind when I'm under a lot of stress. I was listening to the Breeders' album, "Last Splash," which is an album I'd recommend to any one. Right now (June 9, 12:39 PM, Korea Time) I'm listening to the Distillers, "Sing Sing Death House," I think, sitting at a computer on a glass-topped counter in a PC-room in my hotel, smoking cigarettes and getting ready to run late for work. I haven't got any photos yet, because my phone is in Korean. I'll figure it out sooner or later. The following is, again, something you might not want to ... read more

Hey Everyone! Ciao tutti! Bok Svima! Andy, Nick and I are leaving tomorrow for Paris and I just wanted to give everyone a heads up if I haven't already about this website. It will automatically send you an alert to your e-mail every time I update my journals and photos. Just make sure to check and make sure it doesn't automatically send it to your junk or bulk folder. The three of us are very anxious to leave tomorrow. I will send you an update from Paris as soon as we have outlived the jetlag. Jeanette xoxoxo... read more

I set my alarm for 01:00 (yes, A.M.) so I could call München to make a reservation for the Euraide bus tour of Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Wieskirche. My first-ever international phone call! It wasn't any different from making a domestic call. My home phone didn't light up or play special music to celebrate or anything. ;) I've come several full circles on bus tours catering to Americans... there was a lot to love about seeing Scotland that way, but there's no question that we ended up isolated from real people, real culture and authentic experiences. Being one of a gaggle of gawking, giggling tourists belched from one of a vast herd of lumbering buses at the appointed visitor centers and tchotchke shops doesn't feel in-country ... read more

I haven't been home in almost two years and now calling it "home" feels funny. I have to say it's really nice to be at mom's house after so much time away. It's been great seeing so many friends. It sucks not having time to see everyone. New York is completelly different of course, I left in 2001 so I'm like a pre-9/11 New Yorker. The city is very different now. Everything is much more expensive but I did come here with Euros so I take advantadge of the Dollar being so low. New York is crazy and I see alot of things I don't like here. People seem completely preocupied with things I don't care so much about anymore so there's a little rift between me and everyone, specially my family. I hate to say ... read more

Cinnabon. Taco Bell. Mandatory eavesdropping. Relatively humdrum traffic. Box stores. 7-second limit on staring. Lack of 15th-century farmhouses (well, 15th-century ANYTHING). WAAAAY different food. American keyboards. The annoying urge to compare everything to Italy. These are among the millions of aspects of my home country that are swamping me right now. I knew it would be a shock, but could never have imagined how foreign my birth country could seem to me. Or how much I could appreciate the little things. Like friendly shopkeepers, or walking by a crew of construction workers and realizing that the knee-jerk inward cringe I have developed in Italy has become relatively unnecessary. On the other hand, it was a testament to another habit I've cultivated (espresso) when I took a swallow of drip coffee and realized it was completely indistinguishable ... read more

Hello from Destin's Barnes & Nobles coffe shop! I haven't written in a while so I will try and recap the last two days. We left off Saturday morning. April and I ended up heading to Destin Commons, once again we WERE going to rent a Pontoon boat, but the water was still a brownish color, so we decided to wait. We headed out around noon and went to lunch at The Hard Rock Cafe. This one is really nice. Not too big and lots of retro 80's music. The staff is also eclectic and down to earth. I ordered my usual...grilled chicken dinner and Ape got fajitas. It was such a gorgeous day out that after lunch we walked and walked (and walked) around the village area and then the strangest thing happened, I had ... read more

A cidade e totalmente diferente agora.
