Hello all, After 3 great days at Disney we headed south to San Diego. We stayed at a lovely park in Mission Bay which had trees and picnic tables (some of these RV parks are just carparks). The afternoon we arrived we went to the supermarket, we were there for an embarrassing length of time but our efforts were rewarded with Vogals bread and Cadbury chocolate! (We were very excited). Cabrillo National Park: The next day we went to explore the city and found a national park quite by accident. Cabrillo Nat. Park is thought to be the site were the Spanish first set foot on American soil in the 1500s. It has a small museum which tells you the full story, a huge monument and a lighthouse from the 1800s. The lighthouse is decorated inside ... read more

Okay so it's finally starting to settle in now that I have A. FINALLY graduated from college B. Am getting married in a year. and C. I'm going to Europe! It's 2am and I've decided to stay awake all night in order to prepare myself for the time change when we get to Paris. I can't believe I am going to Europe. Never, in my life, did I think that I would be backpacking across Europe; France, Italy and Spain to be more accurate. And it's all thanks to Dave, my fiancee, who is giving me a graduation/birthday present. Pretty nice huh?! Earlier in the day my family threw me a graduation party in La Jolla right on the beach. It was awesome to be able to spend time with my family before we left for ... read more

Hi again. Well I have now experienced the famous Greyhound bus system - I have to say It could do with a lot of improvement! The bus from Anaheim to San Diego was dirty and had some of the weirdest people on board, but I made it here safely. My hostel seems ok. A bit old but cosy. There's 3 others in my room but I haven't met them yet, so we'll see I guess. Tomorrow I plan on checking out the zoo, the hostel offers cheap tickets which is good. I'm saving money all over the place! I'm using internet at the library which means it's free! Only 6 minutes left now so must go...... read more

Philippine Travel Journal (Updated from an earlier version) We made our way up a crude earthen walkway to the top of Mercurio Hill. Looking back over my shoulder was Olongapo City with its newer modern look, its bustling commerce, and fleets of speeding jeepney drivers hell bent on reaching their next stop. With the Nalica household now in sight, we walked further up the flattened stones buried in the packed earth. We saw hollow block houses with wooden louvered windows and old men sitting on benches drinking beer. The gumamella shrubs along the pathway, with bright red blossoms, struck me as beautiful. Some errant chickens foraging nearby for specks of discarded rice stopped eating to stare at us. On this trip we would pass through Pampanga with stops in Manila and La Union. Visions of ... read more

Went to strange little bit of coast today - full of military shops, barbers & very little else, although did get a decent pizza and bottle of peroni, and big plus saw dolphins off the pier, a pod of around 4/5. Just never gonna get over the thrill of seeing stuff that belongs in the sea there. That was the one good thing about Cook, we saw whales - quite a long way out, but v. lucky as they don’t usually get sighted till June. Yeah, Oceanside was an odd bit of seaside, it’s near Camp Pendleton which apparently is a bit of a prime posting. Military influence is overwhelming, I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere where there are so many barbers. Despite the numbers there were still queues coming out the door. Hundreds of ... read more

We're in San Diego, visiting Brian's sister, just about ready to leave tomorrow to cross the border. And very excited to do this at last. Here's what we've been up to: Monday we got some electrical things checked out on the bus, got the temporary registration permit at DMV (closest thing shy of passing smog, which is out of the question), and crossed out a record-breaking amout of items off our many lists of to-do's. Tuesday we made some last-minute modifications to the bus, packed and left. Brian managed to leave his passport in a drawer, safely at home. On our way out of town and starving, we decided to get burritos and a couple margaritas (at Cactus Cafe, of course). Before leaving the parking lot, the muffler fell completley off the back of the bus! ... read more

Well well well, funny this life thing is, is it not? 8 months and a few days on and another beautiful chapter in my life has been written, and I could not be happier with the contents of it. First off a thank you to any and every one that I met whilst on my travels, from the guy at the top of Taksim who worked at the donner shop to the friends that will last a life time. Thank you, thank you. Most of the people that I spoke to before I left would always say to me, "wow wee, this is a trip of a lifetime, enjoy it to the full" I always thought that was a bit strange because it is and was just a beautiful trip, but certainly not a trip of ... read more

It was my birthday on saturday and managed to have quite a fun-filled weekend. I should really be studying at the moment but thought i'd put that off for a while and post another entry in the blog. I'd been studying a lot lately so this weekend it was good to just kick back and get up to some mischief. Friday i was invited to go Tijuana (TJ) in Mexico with some of my newer friends. I wasn't told that i'd be the only guy with five 18 year old girls but guess i wasn't complaining. Drove down to the border in one of the girl's 7-series BMW and walked across the border. There was meant to be a big night at a club with cheap entry and all you can drink for Cinco De Mayo ... read more

So i'm here in San Diego.......aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I know that I have been home for almost five days now, but I had to let it sink in before I wrote. The last few days of tour were awesome. WE had great shows and it was warm, and we stayed in the same hotel room for 3 days. The teachers and students adored us, and we got to enjoy the small town of Clovis, New Mexico. We went to a park and fed ducks. That was loads of fun. The we had 2 shows and drove 11 hours to Arizona. Luckily, I knew we were headed westward.....(ho), so that kept me going. Then our last show could not have been more......well, there's not really a word to describe it. It was unexpectedly at a Montessori school, os basically ... read more
