Arrived in San Diego safe and sound at 1830 hours after a 5 hour journey from Las Vegas. Thanksgiving traffic was busy so bit slower than what we expected. Didn't get to the hotel until about 2000 so have had dinner and a hot tub and a few glasses of vino tinto to go with it before settling down soon. Apparantly there's a place in San Diego called something beginning with B where everything happens so we're visiting there tomorrow.... read more

We set off this morning for the 120 mile drive to visit the world famous San Diego Zoo. We made good time until we got close to San Diego where the traffic was quite heavy and slow moving. The weather was great and we were both looking forward to the zoo. After paying the entrance fee we first visited the reptile house where there were numerous snakes and lizards on display. We then took the 'Skyfari' to the far end of the zoo where the Polar Bear plunge is situated. This is where you can watch the Polar bears both on land and underwater. From there we made our way past numerous exhibits towards the Monkey trails where there is a treetop cafe and viewing platform. With lunch out of the way we wandered around some ... read more

Madison Wilson and Austin Evans grew up together in North County San Diego. Friends since birth, they have been given the opportunity to go on a working trip to the Galapagos Islands as a way to experience another culture and a different way of life. Madison is a frequent traveller, and has lived in Nicaragua for up to one year at a time. Austin has been to Buenos Aires, Argentina to visit his family and would love to travel more. However, the cost of the trip is not one that every family can afford. We decided that developing a website would be an excellent way to raise money so that it is beneficial for both the environment and our trip, they say. We hope that through your generous donations, whatever they may be, we can ... read more

We arrived in San Diego on Friday after having caught the Greyhound bus from Hollywood. Our hostel was really cool and a lot more chilled out than Hollywood. It is located in Downtown San Diego in a part of town called the gaslamp district. There are loads of bars and restaurants around which is good if you can drink. Unfortunately though James is underage and our room was at the front of the building so we got most of the noise from the pissed up Americans on Friday Night! To be honest we haven't done or seen a great deal of San diego. We've just been chilling out and met some really sound people. Got a couple of email addresses already! Been giving some good advice about Fiji and an Australian couple have given us their ... read more

After four solid months of travelling around Europe, I was beginning to grow very weary of living out of a bag, using shared bathrooms, shared bedrooms, eating out, and constantly being on move, leaving a city just as you start to get a hold of where things are and how to get around. It was for this reason that I headed back to California for a 'holiday from my holiday'. I left Amsterdam and after 37 long hours of travelling including an 11 hour flight, a 12 hour overnight bus, a ferry and and many other buses and trains along the way, I finally arrived in San Diego where I am writing this. It was really great to get back to some warm weather, see some familiar places but most of all have the chance to ... read more

First stop before I leave for Korea is San Diego, California to visit my buddy Jack from college and to see my buddy Justin who is living and working in Los Angeles right now. Jack is currently working for a program that trains dolphins and sea lions for the Navy. One of his friends out in San Diego is allowed to have friends and family come out to the Navy Base to actually see and play with the dolphins up close. This isn't a Hawaiian dolphin tour where you can suit up and swim with docile dolphins in a small clear blue estuary. This is a private tour to see how smart and useful dolphins can be when they receive US Military Training. The pier isn't crowded when we arrive so Jack's friend actually lets Jack ... read more

San Diego was the last stop of our journey down the Pacific Coast Highway and as we passed the city limits sign it triggered a feeling of nostalgia and sadness as it also signaled the end of our tour down the west coast. It just didn’t seem that we have spanned the length of America in these short amount of days. We found our accommodation pretty quickly, well after a couple of the customary u-turns anyway! The motel we were staying in had a pool, so after dumping our stuff we made for a relaxing afternoon at the pool reading up on the local tourist guide to plan our next days activities. Our base for the next 4 days was Mission Bay, a 10 minute drive from Downtown San Diego and home to a long sandy ... read more

Where to start. Having left my home and new copado amigos in San Telmo, BA i passed quickly thru Salta in the north of Argentina and San Blas on the west coast of Mexico. I am now sitting in my new share house in San Diego, Cali. After nearly 8 months, a lot of bife de chorizo and even more communication problems, i am now back on english speaking soil in the land of knarly surfers y pinchy cabron mexicanos.(es una broma chavos, los quiero todoooo!) It trips me out hanging in north america, not the same feeling as when i was in disneyland mode 14 years ago. After more than 3 weeks walking down the street and hearing the accent i still feel like im an extra in a episode of the OC. The accent, ... read more

I am ready to go home now. Last minute preparation for the trip home included ...uninspired huge luggages ...I was shock at how much goods I have taken with me home. Nothing fancy. Just souvenirs for my sisters and extra "merchandise" from my cousins from home to their relatives in the States. I was sweating trying to stuff everything into the 2 suitcases I was allowed to accompanied me. Did not need a taxi since a friend of mine who work at the airport would give me a ride to the airport from his mid-shift break ... Once I arrived at the airport, I was whisked directly to the Korean airline check-in desk and be proceeded immediately. I then was given boarding pass and my friend got a surprise for me ...to spend my pre-departure time ... read more

Hello all you impatient Blog readers out there. America may be the land of Plenty and the land of the Free but it certainly isn't the land of Plenty Internet Cafes, Free or otherwise. We have had such a wonderful time since we left you (and San Francisco) behind that what follows is but a condensed version of our time between there and our current place of San Diego. Where to start? At the beginning I suppose. We left the bright lights of SF and headed towards Sacramento. Having found a reasonably cheap motel we went for a walk into downtown. To say we were underwhelmed is to put it politely. We mooched around a shopping mall (well,Linda shopped, Ken mooched!) We spotted a sign for 'Old Sacramento' and thought anything must be better than the ... read more
