i finally got out of oaxaca!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got to puerto escondido yesterday!!! the place is beautiful!! HUGE waves, nice beaches, good lookin women.... I LIKE....... anyhoo, my euphoria will probably be short lived. as it turns out the fish purveyor i was gonna work with isnt gonna be able to provide monkfish and sole all year. i therefore probably have to go back to oaxaca to solve this problem and probably change a couple dishes on the new menu. AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! goddamnit!!!!! just when i thought id be on vacation for a bit... oh well. so as it turns out (as you all may have deduced) im gonna be staying on another month. i know i know, its the third time i say this, but i swear it's last....maybe... ;) im gonna stay on to implement the ... read more

Puerto Escondido We arrived in Puerto a bit shabby after the bus ride and cruised around trying to find a hotel. We ended up picking one with 50 stairs up to our room...the office was all the way to the top. Dont know what we were thinking. Puerto is on the way to becoming the next Kuta. Theres heaps of photographers and dads shooting on the beach and a constant crowd in the water. Puerto Escondido means ´hidden port´but its not so hidden anymore. Should really translate to ´glorified close out´. After chilling in Nexpa, Puerto seemed a bit hectic, but at least we could eat some sushi and party for Michael´s birthday. We stayed on Zicatela beach, but there´s also La Punta on the north end. Zicatela is full of too cool for school kids. ... read more

Men ... read more

Ok, so my move to Mexico started as an adventure. I flew into Mexico City. However, I wasn't aware I had to go through immigration then and there. I thought I would do it in Puerto Escondido. An immigration officer made me aware and when I got to the line it was freakin' long! So, I missed my connection to Puerto Escondido. I had to fly to Huatulco then take the bus to Puerto Escondido OR wait until the next day. I decided to fly. When I arrived in Huatulco, my luggage didn't. It stayed in Mexico City. Fuck! They told me it would be sent to Puerto the next day. I arrived in Puerto late that night. I went to the airport the next day to pick up my luggage and of course, it didn't ... read more

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, and i have seen the pics of the party, looked fun...shame i cant really remember it..... We went out for a meal, which is considered a major treat, and drank some rum, (how funny that you can go to a normal little shop at 2a.m and still be served booze, the joys of Mexico!) though i drank some nasty vlod the night before as a warm up so wasnt really on it that much.....was the reason i didnt go surfing either, but made up for it today with a good effort, though i should start wearing my vest more as my nips are permanantly ruined and my back is verging on black. still, well worth it...... Have just done a silly thing though and wached some of Jaws, you know ... read more

Buenas Dias...its Tracey, Nick is currently attempting to top up his tan, apparently i have been banned from sunbathing as in Nicks eyes i look native, therefore i am going to do a quick travel blog in hope he catches up and we can stop having comparing sessions. Firstly i´d like to clarify something Nick mentioned in his last blog about him being "machine like" in predicting the weather. What actually happens is...Nick sees some darkish clouds in the distance, he will then go out on to the balcony to check the size and fierceness of the waves, then he takes the towels in that are airing on the balcony and declare a tropical storm is coming. I get sent to the shops immediatly for "provisions" and we wait...sometimes we have waited hours and sometimes days ... read more

On the 21st of April it was time for yet another bus ride but this one was not so funny, not for Kiki... The bus driver was the worst driver ever and the roads were terrible. All he cared about was getting to Puerto Escondido quickly so we were flying over the bumps in the road and almost falling out of our seats as he was turning on the curvas peligrosas. Kiki was all geared up with travel sickness tablets but they did nothing for her. NOTHING. She spent most of the 7 hour journey sitting on the floor next to the driver in order to focus on the road ahead. At least 4 times she had to lean out of the window of the moving bus and throw up... It was not pretty. Monia was ... read more

PUERTO ESCONDIDO! one of the surf capitals of the world! although I was terrified to surf these waves, I was in awe of the beauty of this place. The sunsets (atardecer) were some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Because Puerto is a small town with zero high rise hotels etc. there is a clear view of the horizon. Nishi, Tal, Nicole, Danielle, Luis and I all endured the 16 hour bus ride (each way!) It actually wasn't bad at all! I have the amazing ability to sleep anywhere so I slept for about 10 hours each way. The ride was all through the state of Oaxaca (pronounced Wa-ha-ka) which is filled with jungles and indigenous villiages and a lot of really cool sites) It was really awesome! We got there around 2:30 pm ... read more
