Hello Again, As the sun sets on the last full day here in Puerto Vallarta, we have had a great time here at Casa Velas. The service is something else and the rum punch is muy bien. Yesterday we took quite the trip via Taxi out to the Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens. The photographer came out in me as we hiked the grounds looking at new plants: vanilla, coffee, etc. Butterflies were all over the flowers and were willing to pose for my lens. A wild parrot had made himself at home and was only afraid of one thing - the squirtguns given out by the waiters to the people sitting enjoying the scenery as well as the food. I was in 7th heaven shooting photos of all the flora and fauna. Very enjoyable, other than ... read more

Hola from Puerto Vallarta again. Monday was the wedding. Wonderful on the beach as the sun set against the pacific ocean. Cake, champagne, then dinner downtown at Cilantro's and I cannot tell you how muy bein that was. Then drinks at Hard Rock Cafe with "Something" by the Beatle's as our little dance song. A wonderful evening. We only wish our children could have been here to share it with them. Love you guys!!... read more

After that thunderstorm of Friday night we awoke Saturday morning to clear skies and decent humidity. Breakfast at the hotel rest. and then I allowed us to get conned into a trip over to Villa Vallarta for a 2 hour tour and sales pitch on "Fractional Ownership". Won't fly with us but it was interesting in that the 4th person we went thru - the main seller - just got up and left us sitting there when we told him it really wasn't for us. I couldn't help but start laughing. We returned to the pool at our place "Casa Velas" and sat by the pool, reading, a few drinks, swimming. Kathi and Buster got here about 430 pm and they joined us poolside. Buster got a big kick out of seeing a lizard in the ... read more

A very good day indeed - wedding planner, tour of wedding site on the beach, tour of the penthouse at his hotel (3500p per night), walk downtown, cervaza at hooter's, lunch at bubba, gump pool, nap, doesn't get much better -- and then later on the beach a romantic dinner with sprinkles from above and sunset from beyond and I will tell you the honest truth - Words cannot describe this day and especially the dinner we just had. Muy Bien!!!!... read more

you know - a funny thing happens in pv this time of year. the clouds they blacken up and the rain it comes down and the wind blows and you have some of the most ferocious weather this side of willapa bay in december. I mean to tell you it doesn't stop, once it starts. thunder and lightning, lightning and thunder, some near some far but all is wet and windy. blows under our door so much that we had to get towels to keep it outside. The poor mr. and mrs. peacock are soaked. I am videotaping this to prove to the folks back home jsut how bad it really is. Later...kevin and dorothy... read more

A really good day as I sign off - We slept really well last night and got to hear and see one heck of a lightning/thunder display. The man/wife peacock family were out on our porch roosting and seemed a bit frightened by it all. We had breakfast at the hotel this morning - I had something with chips, cheese, beans and lobster - very tasty. Dorothy had eggs benedict - pretty good too. This place treats us like royalty. Took a taxi all the way to the "Flea Market" where we shopped for a while buying a few little things from the sales people. Dorothy was a little anxious about "negotiating" deals while I had a field day. Then we walked up town stopping at the Cigar Store where I bought a nice hand rolled ... read more

well, here we are finally in the lovely (and steamy) Puerto Vallarta (PV). Nice flight in from LA via Portland. We arrive at the airport and leave the plane to be blasted by 95 degree and 95% humidity. Make it through customs okay, even after having our luggage searched. And then we had to run the gauntlet. Many, many time share sellers. I couldn't wait to get to a taxi and some air conditioning. We got cornered by one dude and Dorothy finally told him that she was getting sick from the heat. I figured she was actually getting sick because it was hot. We get to our taxi, a white van, and find that the fee for our 4 mile trip was 23 dollars. First and last time that will happen. He takes us into ... read more

Friday 21st September After an early start we arrived at the bus stop before 8.30am which took us to the harbour. Of course we were early and almost went on the wrong boat! We started chatting with another fellow who had the same ticket as us. His name was Mark Oman and he was here writing a movie script set in Vallarta during the fiesta for the Day of the Dead. The working title for this is “Always not Forever”. By the time we boarded the boat we still only numbered a dozen and this included only 7 gringos. It was glorious cruising south along the Bay of Banderas, the breeze blowing gently, the sun masked by some clouds and the captain taking us close to the land to explain the various sights. Our first stop ... read more
