After leaving Juarez where we successfully attained a permanent Visa for my son's fiancee' - a Mexican girl. At the border into Mexico I anticipated problems as we had to register our car in our name and get a Mexican permit for it and we also had loaded it as full as was possible with goods from the States. Fortunately we got to the border at about 5 a.m. and whizzed through all parts of the permit process. But we did get the red light at the border which means an inspection of the car. The border person just looked in our car and asked if it was all for our house to which we responded YES and breathed a sigh of relief. We motored though Sonora (looks like E. Washington or most of Arizona) and ... read more

Well, I'm trying to put these photos on this blog, and hopefully I have a good strong connection, it will work. Before I do that, I will give you a little sampling of the crusing life....Not cocktails in the cockpit. Today we are getting ready to leave La Cruz, and it's non too soon. I think we overstayed our visit, but when Robin had to replace the steering cables, I knew it would be a few days. The weather is HOT and MUGGY in the mornings before the breeze fills in, but then when the breeze fills in, the seas become rough and we always get wet coming into the beach or back out to the boat. We are slowly learning to take care of business ashore in the morning. It's taken us ,, hmmmm, let ... read more

Just a quick note. I read over the blog and made a few typing, spelling errors. I'm sure you'll beable to figure them out. sorry, I was in a rush to put the photos on before my internet connection failed, so I didn't edit. I will be more careful in the future. Also, some of the photos are a little blurry...the boat is always moving, and it's hard to get a clean picture sometimes, but I will work on that also. Oh, yeah, Sandy...I DO NOT MISS SCHOOL, not even a little...ha! he, he, he!... read more

Hello everyone. Still haven't got all the photos on that I would like., so we have a connection on the boat right now and I will try to add a few more. We have some awful greasy photos too.,, not the nice Margaritas in the cockpit ones, but a big project that is being undertaken by sailorboy, Robin, replacing the steering wheel cables. We have had some really strong winds in the afternoon, and so every afternoon, we just hope that the anchor holds, it's a little unnerving at times, but that's life at anchor. Anyhow, today Robin had to go into Puerto Vallarta to get some cable, and he asked if I wanted to go, I said "no, I've had plenty of bus rides for a while", so I decided to stay on the boat. ... read more

Well we made it back to PV but not without some interesting experiences. After visiting my daughter (Laura) and family for a week, we headed to Green Valley where we visited with friends in an over 55 community for a week. I liked the area but Leon did not. You could buy nice stucco and tile roof houses for a song (about 3K sq feet) but they did look alike. The Santa Fe style houses were nice if you like flat roof and desert style. After one week we flew to Seattle which was a shocker in that the weather was windy, cold and wet. But AZ was also windy and it forced me to buy some new clothes which were warmer - a coat, long pants and tennis shoes. We enjoyed Green Valley but don't ... read more

Just want to add the rest of the photos. Had to leave the computer as we were heading to another marina to hear a talk on the single side band. Had a cruiser help me out this morning and now I can e-mail (only text) when under way, no photos, and can get the weather faxes on the computer. I now have a better idea of how to use the SSB also. Lots to remember, and I feel lazy sometimes. CanĀ“t be lazy when Robin is slaving away in the lasserett (sp?). Hope you like the last photos Robin & Jean... read more

Hello Everyone, Well, I thought I would wait a while before I write about our time here. The basic town is simple, somewhat dusty, like most small Mexican villages. They do have some streets that are cobblstone which definitely stops a lot of dust, but not all, especially the outlying areas. There are so many Canadians living here year round, the small Mexican town atmosphere (like Turtle Bay) is non-existent! There are some nice eateries catering to those gringos, but can be expensive. The food here is good, but the prices are a little like the US, I feel due to the influx of so many gringos. There are alot of whiteheads here. Robin says to me, "Am I like these people?" YEAH! I think so !!! We have met some nice people here, but for ... read more

Hello everyone. It's been a long and interesting 16 days to reach Banderas Bay, specifically we are sitting at achor in La Cruz, a soImewhat small fishing village with lots and lots of gringos living out their retirement here. I am on the boat and getting free wi-fi from a fancy hotel on shore, so I will write swiftly before the tide drops and I lose my connection. Side note: Yesterday I took the laptop into the beach to a resturant with wi-fi. Was writing along for over an hour, and as I was saving the text, the internet just turned off! I was quite upset, let me tell you. So here I am again, hopefully I can get in all the little stories before it gets dropped again. Ahh, the life of a vagabond. As ... read more
