Spent one week with my girlfriend and two amazing friends from back home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It is truly one of the best trips I have ever been on simply because people still at my age mostly go on trips to drink heavily and not do much other than that. I was able to do a lot, see a lot and take a lot from the trip and for the first time I feel very content with my vacation.... read more

This past weekend, we had a blast in Sayulita, Mexico!! A group of 16 of us from the University of Colorado and Georgia State University rented a house called Casa Agave in the mountains of Sayulita. The 5,000 sq. ft. house was completely covered in tile and adobe...and the bedrooms had A/C! Ah, the luxuries of air conditioning. We decided to go to Sayulita because we heard that it wasn't as touristy as somewhere like Puerto Vallarta. It is small and quaint with mostly dirt roads. However, there were plenty of tourists, Mexican and USians, and tons of haggling on the beach. It was still very beautiful, though. When we arrived on Thursday night after six grueling hours of nauseatingly windy roads through mountains, there was a hurricane-like storm on the West Coast of Mexico. The ... read more

This was my first trip outsie the US besides a short stint at Niagra Falls. I took this trip with my Swedish friend Erik, my sister Lindsay and my parents. This city is truely amazing. I am still invigorated by the energy of it as I remember it. We stayed at a resort called Villas Vallarta in the Marina Vallarta area. Adventures here included, bus into town, and my first success navigating in Spanish. There was also talking with beautiful Mexican girls on the beach and making friends with some Mexican boys at the hotel, who I kept in touch with for a year afterwards. Drinking tequilla for Eriks birthday, his throwing up and then getting harrassed by the local po po's and a wet t-shirt contest, an E "Wild On" type experience. . Unbelievable food ... read more

Alright well i haven't updated in quite a while so I've got a lot to catch up on. I'll be doing about 3 or possibly 4 posts, and later a picture gallery because my camera's being stupid. So go on grab a snack and drink because this may get a little ugly. Also, women and children may need to leave the room due to intense typing. Just kidding but seriously i'm just stalling because this is going to be long, I might have to take a nap a third of the way, two thirds, and at the end. Alright enough Lolly Gaggin around time for business. So, let's start with my travel during the American Spring Break! I'll start a couple days before my trip. The friday before the American Spring Break my sister came down ... read more

Greetings from Puerto Vallarta! It really feels like I'm in a foreign country here (gag). I have arrived during Semana Santa (holy week) and it is absolutely packed, big fiesta! This will be my home for the next 6 weeks. I have spent the first few days getting orientated and practicing what little Spanish I know(in addition to lounging around in the sun!). It's suprising how much you pick up during the day just from walking around...I even got asked directions to the shops by a local in Spanish! (i'm sure I sent her the wrong way!). Ha I thought, I must be blending in with the locals already...not so, the next guy I met wanted to show me some pretty ladies!! I also plucked up the courage to get on a local bus back from ... read more

Our adventures in Puerto Vallarta rarely slowed down. One of the next adventures was out to Yelapa, a small beach town that is only accessible by boat. Our form of transportation was a water taxi. They are just like street taxis, except they are rickety little boats. Our water taxi was able to get us in front of our hotel, but trying to get onto the boat with out getting taken over by the force of the tide was very challenging. There was not a dock, just the boat on the water. Once we were finally on and picked some people up at another stop, we took off at a great speed over the choppy waves. At one point we even saw a whale blow a mist of salt water into the air. We finally made ... read more

I have a big heart for the Puerto Vallarta area. The way the tropical hills pour into the sea is simply breathtaking. I couldn't wait to get out and explore with Ronnie and our friends Joellyn and Grant. We arrived at our hotel before noon. We stayed at one of my favorite inexpensive hotels right on the beach and at the end of the Malecon (the long walk along the beach) Hotel Rosita has a bad rap on Tripadvisor, but I think it is just perfect. It was one of the first hotels in Puerto Vallarta and it holds that old Mexican feel I adore so much. Our room was huge! It faced the pool and the beach. We quickly unpacked and decided to take a stroll around the town. It was so fun to be ... read more

We arrived in Puerto Vallarta airport at 11:00am and a day before our friends. We were able to get some great flight deals by flying in a day early and so we decided to leave it up to the fates as to where we would land and live for 24 hours. We used Hotwire and picked a hotel that was the cheapest for a 2 star rating. We were destined to spend the day in Marina Vallarta. Our hotel turned out to be the Flamingo Marina Vallarta Hotel and it was just what we wanted. Some place clean and roomy, with a pool, a palapa, a bar and views of palm trees. Right after checking into our huge room, we decided to hang out poolside and get some lunch. After several Coronas and reading time in ... read more
