Hello again, thought I'd add one more entry while I'm in Whistler, just a few words on the other things I've done besides snowboarding and some of the people I've met while I've been here. The first week I spent with one guy from Japan, one from Los Angeles, two from London and one from Melbourne. All great guys who appreciate a few beers after a day in the powder, so as you can guess we all got along quite well. One of the guys showed me a lot on the mountain and we had some great days together. The second week two guys from Sweden moved in. I got along with them the best, really my type of people, I boarded with them every day for the last 4 or 5 days and have promised ... read more

Thought I'd start up this travel blog as it's easier this way. I've just finished my two weeks of snowboarding here and what a great time! We've had heaps of snowfall and some really great powder days, just the other morning I woke up to 20cm of new snow on the balcony! No injuries and I managed to snowboard for about 6 hours a day for 12 days. It's been an excellent experience and I'll try to come back in the future. Iam a bit sad I'm leaving already but at the same time can't wait to see Kim and travel Holland/Germany. Now it's back to Vancouver for a day and then I'll be meeting Kim in Amsterdam, where we will then meet Tracey's good friends Frans and Tina and stay with them in Holland for ... read more

Ok so we have been a bit slack in getting a site/blog together but finally we had done it after much frustration (and money) at various Internet cafes! So as all our friends and family know we left for our travels at the end of February and spent our first week in Vancouver just basically sussing things out. We did some touristy things like going to Grouse Mountain (Vancouver's local hill) for Em's first snowboarding lesson and other general city sight seeing. We then made our way up to the 'White North' of Whistler to try and become snowboarding bums. To our surprise this happened more easily than we thought and we scored some jobs and accommodation in the first few days- too easy! We stayed there for about 5-6 weeks and then decided we would ... read more

We checked into our hostel which was a few miles outside of town. Little did I know that some of the lads we were with had a condo central in Creekside. 3 levels of pure luxury and this practically became our home for the weekend. Drinking beer in a private spa in Whislter village is not a bad way to start the evening. The nightlife was lively although I felt Whistler was like Disney World. Very expensive and people were of course up their own ass. I started to ask around for accomodation with not much prevail. The mountain was awesome and had great snow on top although it was turning to shit already at the base. This season has plenty of snow (in fact a record year), however the mild conditions is also bringing rain. ... read more

So here we are in our third and final week here in what has recently become rainy Whistler. Last week brought heaps of fresh snow along with temperatures of -17 C, while this week a lot of the snow has tuned either icy (sore to fall on!) or slushy (wet to fall on...), however a storm is a brewin' and our fingers are crossed for a big dump of powder for our final few days of boarding. Other than boarding almost every day, we have been have been sampling the local beers and falling asleep very early (Di, sometimes at 7PM). We also went to see the weekly "Fire and Ice" show in Whistler Village where very brave (crazy?!) boarders and skiers jump through a hoop of fire, do some spins and usually wipe out (see ... read more

Wow - it’s hard to believe it’s been well over a month since I last wrote, in which time we had little if any fresh snow. So I’ve just scoured back through all my photos to remind myself of everything that’s happened, and there’s a fairly common re-occurrence of food, snow, more food and the occasional visitor. I’m not sure if I’m just becoming used to the surroundings and am therefore less inspired to take original photos, or if my days have really become that predictable… perhaps a bit of both. There were however a few definite highlights worth noting… We’ve had lots of visitors come to stay, which always spices up life in Whistler: Sara’s parents came to visit for a few days on the 21st Jan and although it rained most of the time, ... read more

We arrived in Vancouver on the 11th and spent a few days shopping for snowboarding stuff (lots of bargains to be found!) before heading up to Whistler. Apart from the shopping and Stanley Park we didn't discover any other highlights in Vancouver just lots of mice (which lived in our hostel room!) and hobos. We may give it another chance after we've finished boarding in Whstler. We headed up to Whistler on the 14th to be welcomed by Donuts (a uni friend) and some rain..... which eventually turned into snow. We stayed with Donuts for a few days, in which time we wandered round Whistler hobnobbing with the rich Yanks and Ausies. We got a couple of lift passes and headed up the mountain for a test drive of Di's new board boots and bindings. They ... read more

Well here we are again.... How time flys quickly when your having fun. We last left off with Chris promising that she would head to the hill shortly, or was it maybe or even probably not! Can't remember now.... but either way you will find out shortly. December appeared before we knew it and Bridget (Chris' sister) was knocking down our front door to take control of our day lounge (or now know as the Den) for the next month. Bridget kindly travelled over for 4 weeks to spend Christmas and New Years with Chris. During the end of November Chris decided that seeing as though she was going to spend as little time on the mountain skiing as possible she would spend her time working, and working is what she did. Chris started working at ... read more
